Khaike paan nakli-wala!

gimme a new leaf: Gaurav Chopra performing at the Gold Awards in Mauritius pic/ viral bhayani

Gaurav Chopra chewed on a suspicious-looking leaf instead of paan for his tribute to the Big B at the Gold Awards in Mauritius

tushar.joshi@mid-day.com

Gaurav Chopra is a huge Amitabh Bachchan fan, and so he was mighty excited to pay tribute to the Big B at the recently concluded Gold Awards in Mauritius. The actor performed to the Khaike paan Banaraswala and Jumma Chumma songs as a part of his tribute, but little did he know that the paan he chewed on stage would leave a rather bad taste in his mouth!
Chew on this!
Staying true to the original song, Gaurav chewed on what was supposed to be a Banarasi paan for the Khaike song. However, sources revealed that it was actually a random leaf that someone plucked off a tree and gave to him!
A backstage source says, "During rehearsals, Gaurav was told he would be chewing on paan to get the act right. However, minutes before going on stage, someone gave him a leaf that definitely wasn't Banarasi paan. He spat it out as soon as he realised it wasn't paan."
Talking about the incident, Gaurav says, "I was supposed to chew on a paan, but was given something else instead. As soon as I chewed on it, I realised my mistake, but I couldn't do anything as I had to go on stage seconds later."
The actor adds that such incidents happen at award ceremonies and is happy that he didn't suffer any kind of poisoning. "I am a huge fan of Mr Bachchan and am glad I got an opportunity to dance to his songs. As for the paan incident, thankfully nothing serious happened, so I was lucky."

,TNN
Rajesh is craving for attention.
Rajesh Khera is very high on social networking sites. He regularly gives updates on his life. Just recently he wrote about the supporting actor award he got for Left Right Left. Actually it's not a bad way of promoting one self, we must say. Let's hope there are enough takers!

Link for the pic, as it doesn't appear, I don't know why, thought it does sometimes:

Are Gaurav-Narayani together?
30 Sep 2007, 0422 hrs IST,TNN

At Ekta Kapoor's recent party, Gaurav Chopraa and Narayani Shastri walked in together... yet again! It seems like the two cannot make up their mind whether they are seeing each other or not. Their chemistry worked well on-screen, now it remains to be seen whether off-screen it will continue to do so or not.

No shaving for Vikas Mankatala

Vikas Mankatala aka Hooda of Left Right Left has grown a beard so that he looks like a real detainee in the show.

Reveals Vikas, "The track shows that all the cadets are in custody and Hooda has been kept in isolation. To get that realistic look I have not shaved or cut my nails for a month. To add to it, I am skipping two meals per day and to look weary, I sleep for just 3 hours so that the dark circles are visible. I am happy that my efforts are being appreciated though."
Vikas has also had to sacrifice his workouts. "I have not done any workouts for a month and I'm really missing it," he laments.

For how many days will this continue? "I think it will end this month. It will be a relief as the beard is irritating me now."

Well, hope to see a clean shaven Vikas soon.

    Jhoom Rajeev Jhoom
Dancing to someone else's tunes now? Rajeev Khandelwal
There was a time when he was called the Casanova of the small screen, but things have changed dramatically for Rajeev Khandelwal. A source reveals that the actor was spotted partying late on Wednesday night at a suburban restrobar and his antics sure got him the attention he was seeking.

"He was wearing a white shirt and denims and dancing to songs like Jhoom Barabar and Kajre Re. Funnily enough, the place wasn't a nightclub so it was weird to see him behave like that!"

The source adds that the girl dancing with him wasn't on-off girlfriend Aamna Shariff but former SAB creative head, Priya Mishra. The buzz is that Khandelwal and Mishra are more than just good friends. Hmmmmm!

Rajeev is a snob or a loner?
    8 Oct 2007, 0218 hrs IST,TNN

Apparently Rajeev loves his own company.
Recently at a TV event in Mauritius, telly actors had a blast. They enjoyed their stay in the exotic location. For once they were not shedding tears and crying on each other's shoulders as they always do on the sets. But while all TV actors were staying at the resort where the organisers had put them up, Rajeev Khandelwal was staying somewhere far away and all alone!
In fact, he paid for his own accomodation and dining too. Just on the last day when the event was happening, he turned up. Of course he then mingled with his TV clan, who by now, surely were whispering into each other's ears about Rajeev's snobbishness! So was he being snobbish?
"Not at all," says a close friend of the actor, "Rajeev loves the place and wanted to spend some time by himself." Well, what do we say now?

    Career-wise

    < content=10/16/2007 name=date>
Shveta Salve's boyfriend Rodney Barnes is now Rajeev Khandelwal's business manager
Back to Section Stories Posted On Tuesday, October 16, 2007

    Kavita Shyam

Rajeev Khandelwal has got himself a Business Manager to manage his career. Shveta Salve's boyfriend Rodney Barnes is set to get the best out of Rajeev's Bollywood ambitions. Rodney will manage Rajeev's work dates and finances. Rodney who started his career with Wizcraft started managing his girlfriend Shveta's career. Besides managing Rajeev and Shveta's career, Rodney also provides technical production help for events.

Says Rajeev, "I am hoping that my association with Rodney turns out to be a fruitful one. He is a very intelligent and sensible guy who knows his job well and he's the right guy to manage my career."

When contacted, Rodney said, "I am a very media shy person. If you think I am getting there, it's because of Shveta who pushes me to face the camera. The fact that I should get into this profession hit me half way through my career in Wizcraft. After Shveta's success in Jhalak Dikhhla Ja I was flooded with calls from corporate houses to get Shveta to perform at various events. But she could not manage the dates with her work schedules. That is when I started managing her dates and finances."

Talking about managing Rajeev's career Rodney said, "Rajeev is a good friend. Both of us mutually decided on managing his career. Shveta and Rajeev great potential and both are doing films now."

'Rajveer Sir' makes his bollywood debut

    Suruchi Mazumdar
Posted online: Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 0000 hours IST

Rajeev Khandelwal, sorely missed on the popular LRL, is now making his big screen debut with UTV.

Rajeev Khandelwal has already conquered many hearts as television's most adorable hero. Now, he takes his first step to don the big screen. The small screen star, who a few months back opted out of SAB TV's popular Left Right Left, will act in debutant Raj Kumar Gupta's film Amir.

"I've been getting scripts for the last couple of years. This is the most exciting project that I came across," says Khandelwal, who celebrated his birthday on Tuesday.

"It's a realistic story and I'm playing a very believable character."

Amir—to be produced by Spotboy, an arm of UTV Motion Pictures—tells the story of a Muslim professional who lands in Mumbai from London, only to be entangled in a series of hassles.

"I'm playing a middleclass guy who faces the most unexpected situation. The movie is a fast-paced thriller," adds Khandelwal, who had signed Amir even before UTV was roped in as a producer.

The shooting of the film will begin in the next few days. "For the time being, I won't consider any TV offers because I do only one project at a time," says Khandelwal.

Amir has no heroine and song-and-dance sequences. "I never thought I would act in such a project as my debut. But I went for it because of the script," Khandelwal adds.

Eijaz Khan, Shveta Salve, Dharmesh Darshan, Sangeeta Ghosh and Manav Gohil at their 'Bhanvraa' launch

Every telly star cherishes the dream to someday be seen on the big screen and it was a dream come true for Manav Gohil, Eijaz Khan, Shveta Salve and Sangeeta Ghosh as Dharmesh Darshan is all set to launch them in his forthcoming movie 'Bhanvraa'.

A party was hosted at the JW Marriott hotel at Juhu in Mumbai to launch Manav Gohil, who looked stunning in his skull cap and also danced a few steps from his 'Nach Baliye' days as wife Shweta cheer him.

Shveta Salve has previously acted in movies but, this one will be her biggie, she is known as the Madhuri Dixit of the tube and was excited to be part of the big screen in the lead.

Eijaz Khan joked that only he could see himself in the role in Dharmesh Darshan's next. Sangeeta Ghosh had mentor Aruna Irani to support her and the actress was super thrilled to work in a big banner movie.

It still remains the big question whether the audiences will be excited to see the TV stars give a 'Darshan' on the big screen.
