Vandana Sajnani and Rajesh Khattar to tie the knot

MAKING IT OFFICIAL: Vandana Sajnani and Rajesh Khattar

Though Vandana Sajnani and Rajesh Khattar are always spotted together, any questions about marriage have been evaded. Now after four years of togetherness, the couple has finally taken the decision to walk down the aisle around March-April next year. It is learnt that both the families met recently and a ring ceremony was performed.

Says an onlooker, "The couple have always been open about their relationship.

They have now decided to exchange vows. Vandana has met Rajesh's family in New Delhi and everyone is happy. The couple is looking for a house to move into post-marriage."

We are family

Interestingly, Rajesh is the former husband of Neelima Azim and they have a son, Ishaan. After her break-up with Pankaj Kapoor, Neelima went on to marry Rajesh. Neelima and Pankaj's son Shahid Kapoor is extremely fond of Ishaan.

It is learnt that singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya played Cupid and set them up. Rajesh, who is seen on both the big and small screen, is also a writer and dubbing artiste.

At present he features in the SAB show Left Right Left and will also be seen in Bheja Fry director Sagar Bellary's next project.
The couple met during Vandana's play Please Divorce Me Darling, which stars Rati Aghinotri.

New drama

When asked about the big day, Vandana still prefers to be cautious. All that she is willing to say is, "Yes, lots of good things are happening together and I am extremely happy. We are even getting Lions' Club of SOL awards together this weekend!"

At the moment she'd rather talk about her new drama, ironically called The Perfect Divorce that opens in Mumbai at Rangsharda on Sunday. "Anupama Varma will make her theatre debut and it is a follow-up to my earlier venture The Perfect Wedding." Needless to add, Rajesh is part of the drama!

By the way, he's also upbeat about his personal life right now.... ina few months time he will tie the knot wih fiancee Vandana Sajnani

Now, Gaurav Chopra prepares for Bollywood debut

Gaurav Chopra, who plays Lt Abhimanyu Rai in Left Right Left, has finished shooting for his first Bollywood venture. That apart, he also has another international project on hand. We spoke to Gaurav to know more.

"I have finished shooting for Humne Jeena Seekh Liya, which is being directed by Milind Ukey. He directed Hanuman and had earlier assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali," says Gaurav, "The film is narrated through the eyes of a 14-year-old boy. It is a completely non glamorous, real story and an honest attempt. My role is of a social activist and this boy wants to be like me. In short, I am playing his ideal man, though he does not understand what I am doing or what social messages I am giving. It also has a very sweet and innocent love angle."
The actor proudly adds, "The film has already got 50 thousand advanced bookings. We want this film to be seen by the right kind of people first. It is a two-hour film and has been shown to some NGOs, schools and social workers. It will release worldwide on January 4."

About his other international project, Gaurav, who was seen in the Hollywood flick The Blood Diamond, only says, "Some people from Los Angeles are coming to train us for this action flick. There are three protagonists and I'm playing one of them."

We wish Gaurav all the best for his filmi career.

Godfather scene in Left Right Left

Left Right Left will have a scene which has been inspired from the movie Godfather. We spoke to one of the actors Gaurav Chopra to know more.
Gaurav Chopra, who considers himself lucky to be playing Lt.Abhimanyu Rai, says:" I recently shot a scene where my father is being killed by the main negative lead. After that my revenge sequence will start in the show. The scene was inspired by the movie Godfather where I was trying to save his life but in the end the person manages to kill him in the hospital. I think it was really great that I got a chance to play Al Pacino in the scene. It turned out to be a very nice shot."

About the scene, he adds, "There was great drama and it was really memorable. I did it without using glycerin. I was crying the whole day while shooting for that scene which will come on air soon."

Gaurav says he is proud to be part of the show. "I am really enjoying it as it is not like other shows on TV based on saas-bahu drama. It inspires youth of the country. You are actually going through the lives of soldiers and the everyday problems and politics they face in real life. I am getting a chance to feel all that through this show."

Gaurav is going to be seen in two dance performances at the end of this year. Apart from that he is also doing a couple of films.

    Hi friends,

This is an interview for DJ banner, where Left Right Left & Rajeev Khandelwal are mentioned 😳

    ON A ROLL
    Chaya Unnikrishnan
The DJ banner has an impressive track record on the small screen. While Banegi Apni Baat and Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin have been channel-drivers, serials like Just Mohabbat, Jab Love Hua and Left Right Left have proved to be a refreshing changes from the regular fare. Only Jeete Hai Jiske Liye didn't live upto expectations but that's more of an aberration. In a freewheeling interview, Deeya-Tony share their plans and anxieties

With three shows on air and one more scheduled in January, do you feel this is the most exciting phase of your production house?
Let's say it is a phase we are looking forward to, since the entertainment industry is growing and it is exciting to be a part of it. Zee Next and NDTV Imagine with whom we are working have a vision and together we are trying to create something that will break the clutter on TV. How we go about it and how will it be received is something we have to wait and watch. However, the heart's in the right place and our fingers are crossed.

But won't it be tough to handle so many shows simultaneously?
It will be tough but we have had a reasonably good lead time before the shows have come on air. We have been working on the Zee Next's show Jhoome Jiye Re for the last one year. For our NDTV Imagine show, Radha Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi, we have been working closely with their creative director, Shailaja Kejriwal, for eight months. Left Right Left is already going on for almost a year now and Annu Ki Ho Gayi Wah Bhai Wah has just started on Star One. We are giving our 100 per cent to the shows which is why I think, we will be able to pull it off.

A Tony-Deeya show is usually different from the regular fare on television. From where do you source your ideas?
We are lucky to have a good set-up of writers who have been with us since the beginning. Creating new ideas is a team effort. We regularly brainstorm and from one show, another idea is born. For a long time we wanted to do a show on an academy but at that time nobody was interested. When SAB TV envisaged an interest in the concept we developed it and Left Right Left happened.

Didn't you have problems with the lead actor Rajeev Khandelwal?
Not really. He had a one-year contract with us and we knew he would quit after that. We were always prepared for it. He did stay on for four more months before moving on.

Over a decade ago, your Banegi Apni Baat launched with Zee and now Jhoome Jiiya Re is the launch show for Zee . Does that make you nostalgic?
Absolutely. I am feeling like it's the first day of school. Everything has become a challenge. There's a non-comfort zone and you have to develop a rapport with the company. I love challenges and being pushed to come up with something new. The brief for Jhoome Jiiya Re was that we have to create a show that is youthful and fresh. The concept of Jhoome .... is highly inspired from personal experiences we have had with our children in their growing-up phase. The serial is about why nice guys always have to be last. It's about how everyone is special, irrespective of whether they dream of becoming something big or not. Like our protagonist Dabboo says, 'Mein aankhen band karti hoon par sapna nahin dikhta'. She, however, doesn't give up trying. She is good in dance and music but has no clue about it because her father is close-minded and unencouraging. Actually, he's been a loser in his life and the fear that the daughter will be like him nearly kills him. The daughter, then decides to be something in her life and with the aid of her grandmother she finds her calling in dance.

That's completely different from your other show Annu Ki Ho Gayi Wah Bhai Wah on Star One where she's shown to be a chef.
Yes, it's completely opposite to Jhoome... It's about a Punjabi family that is happy with whatever they have. They take setbacks in their stride and lack of money is never an issue. Fame is transient to them, what's important is being together. I have seen such a family from close quarters. The show has a slightly exagerrated style, though. Annu, the protagonist of this show is skilled and confident while Dabboo has to find her calling.

What is the inspiration behind Radha Ki Betiyaan...?
I am highly impressed by people who have come to Mumbai with nothing in their hands and earned everything here, including a home. That's what the serial is about. Radha is a widow with three daughters who land up in the city of dreams for some reason. She comes with little money but is always positive. It's about these three girls who have different personalities but are true to each other. It is about having faith and believing in oneself. The story, which is extremely positive, leads from Radha's perspective. I want to bring a lot of romance in this show and give little nuskas to viewers.

Having worked on almost all the entertainment channels do you think each one has a different profile?
They do, but I wouldn't be able to tell you on a macro level. For instance if I am doing this show for Star One in the 8 pm slot, I know it has be a lighter show as kids will be watching it.

You had a superhit show Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin on Sony but Jeete Hai Jiske Liye on the same channel nosedived.
Like Jassi..., Jeete Hai was also a tele-novella. But somewhere around the way, a creative decision was taken to deviate from the original story-telling. It ended up being a regular show that wasn't accepted. We are just the producers who deliver what we are told to.

    LRL gets a new look

eft Right Left aired on SAB has donned a new look with a fresh cast. Producers Deeya-Tony are are introducing a new set of actors with Harsha Rane as Rummy, Saurav Chakravarty as Peter, Mohit Daga as Malla, Deeya Chopra as Vidya, Shikha Singh as Akriti and Swati Taldar as Sanjana as the new cadets of the academy. "The template of the show is the same, but the academy has been up-scaled and become more youth-oriented," says the creative head.

Naagin talkLooks like naagins are in vogue, at least, on the small screen. After Aroona Irani's Naaginn who is avenging the death of her mate on Zee , it is the turn of Sahara One's icchadari naagin to ensnare you. Neeli Aankhen is the story of Vaishali, an icchadhari nagin who is forced to face negative elements. She falls in love with Rahul who has an intense phobia of snakes and has nightmares of hundreds of snakes crawling over him. Rahul's stepmother Kanishka has a cunning son Vinod. Kanishka's brother Dhanraaj is yet another vicious character. This trio is plotting to grab Rajan's fortune whose sole heir is Rahul. They scheme to get rid of Rahul and are partly successful as they are responsible for Rahul's car accident. Rahul is jolted out of his car into the forest, and lays unconscious and bleeding profusely. Rahul opens his eyes to find the enchanting girl, Vaishali nursing him with great care and he eventually falls in love with her. He is unaware that she can turn into a snake at her will! Directed by Shyam Ramsay the serial has Rubina playing the naagin. The others in the cast include Sonia Kapoor, Deep Dhillon, Dellip Thadeshwar, Shahbaaz Khan and Faraaz Khan. It will be aired every Saturday and Sunday at 9.30 pm starting February 9.

Ankur Nayar must be the only actor who finds cameos far more exciting than lead roles that go on for years. He has done both family dramas and action-adventure shows. But his personal favourites are the latter. "the problem with family dramas is that they go on endlessly whereas action. I am keen on doing anything that excites me. But I find it difficult to carry on with one role for a long time," he says. He also doesn't mind stepping into someone's shoes as a replacement as long as the role is meaty. "Replacements are the 'in' thing today. It doesn't bother me whether the character is negative or positive as long I get to play a good role. In any case, these days it's difficult to have a long vision about any role because TRPs determine the colour of the character," he says.

He was enjoying his innings as Captain Randhawa in Left Right Left. But with the show going for a new set of characters in its third season, Ankur is back to doing a daily family drama. "Well, I started my career with Kasauti and in the last seven years have done quite a few family dramas. But I have had a great time working in Kohinoor and Left Right Left because action and adventure shows are more exciting," he says.

So how does he find his role in Ghar Ek Sapna where he has replaced Ujwal Rana in the lead role? "The channel and producer were keen that I do the role after Ujwal decided to quit. Since I enjoy a certain comfort level with the channel I agreed," he says.
