Part 7
Hours past and Bani is still captured in Jai's office. She has walked it up and down and inspected every corner of it. It was tidy, neat and extremely cold. 'Just like your character.', thought Bani out loud. She was dying to know how her sister was doing, but the guard standing at the door prevented her from walking out. Every time she opened the door to peek outside he would give her a grumpy face and shout out her to get in and close the door.
Bani is standing in front of the window admiring the thousands lights that decorate the Mumbai skyline. She walks back to Jais desk and checks what time it is. 9.30 pm and still no sign of him. She sighs and wonders what would happen to her and Rano. She drops herself in his comfortable chair and picks up the phone and puts it back. She very carefully touches the computer with her fingers, afraid to break it. She wonders how that thing works. After inspecting the computer Bani attention is caught by the drawers of the desk. She tries to fight the temptation, but her curiosity wins and she opens the drawer. There are just files in the first one. The second one is locked. She tries to open it, but it doesn't give in. Suddenly she remembers the small key she found hidden behind a book in the shelf at the right wall of the office. Without hesitation she gets out of the chair and goes to get the key. She walks back to the desk and when she is about to open the drawer she hears voices at the other side of the door. She quickly walks away from the desk and gets herself seated in the chair Jai left her in. The door is pushed open and an exhausted looking Jai walks in.
'Get up!' Bani looks at him, but keeps sitting while trying to hide the key in her pocket. Hoping Jai wouldn't notice it. She curses her curiosity and wonders why she wanted to open that draw so desperately. 'Where is my sister?' Jai rolls his eyes in irritation. After being on the verge of loosing his company he really wasn't in the mood for arguments. Without saying a word he walks towards Bani, grabs her arm and pulls her out of his office, out of his hotel and right to his car. He opens it and pushes a screaming and furious Bani inside. 'If you want to see your sister again, I suggest you sit and keep your mouth shut!' he slams the door in Bani's face who is totally worried about her sister and wonders what the creep has done to her. Jai gets in the car and drives off. Bani tries to ask him about Rano, but he completely ignores her. She watches him as his eyes are fixed on the road and his face doesn't show any emotion. After a 20 minute ride the care drives up to a huge mansion, slows down and eventually stops. 'Get out!' Bani is about to shout back at Jai but controls herself and walks out of the car. Jai gets out and walks towards the mansion, when he reaches the door he screams to her. 'What the hell are you waiting for? A red carpet?! Get inside!' Bani swallows a couple of times, takes a deep breath and follows Jai. She is so amazed by the huge and beautiful house that she doesn't notice where she is walking. She bumps into a chair hurting her leg like hell. A scream escapes her lungs and as she tries to reach for her hurt leg Bani feels how a hand is put on her mouth and an arm around her waist. 'Are you out of your mind! It's past midnight and everybody is sleeping!' Bani nods her head and Jai releases her from his grip.
She looks at him with tears in her eyes. Her leg is hurting her, but all she can think about is Rano. She asks Jai in a suffocated voice where her sister is. Before he can answer Rano comes running down the stairs. 'Didi!' She runs towards Bani and the girls hug tightly. When they let go of each other Bani notices that Rano is actually clean and wearing some nice pyjama's. 'You look very nice Rano.' Rano giggles, but Jai doesn't give her time to explain to Bani that Jai had taken her to his house two hours back and given orders that she was taken care off. They had given her a nice warm meal and she had taken the best bath ever. 'Rano, go back to your room. This is no time to chat.' Bani is surprised at Jais tone. He almost sounded brotherly, but what surprised her more was the fact that he knew her sisters name. Rano looks from Jai to Bani and back. Jai notices that she is worried. 'Don't worry Rano, just go and take some rest.' His words seems to work like magic. Rano kisses Bani goodnight and walks back upstairs, leaving a stunned and most confused Bani behind.
'Can you please tell me what is going on?' Bani gets just a short and cold 'Nothing!' as an answer. Jai starts walking towards the stairs. Bani decides to walk behind him. She bites her tongue to suppress a scream of extreme pain. She could barely walk. After two steps she sits herself down on the ground holding her hurt leg and cries silently. She suddenly feels how two strong arms lift her up. She blushed when she realises that she is in Jai's arms. He carries her upstairs without looking at her once. They walk past a couple of closed doors before Jai enters a nicely decorated bedroom. He puts her gently on the bed and in a business like tone tells her he will send a maiden to help her take a bath and bring her something to eat. Bani is too shocked to say a word. She keeps starring at him while he walks towards the door. When he is about to disappear from her sight he turns around. 'Be careful with that leg. I'll have a doctor over in the morning to look at it.' Bani pinches herself to make sure she is not dreaming.
