Television actor Ankita Lokhande and her husband, businessman Vicky Jain, have recently found themselves in the spotlight following developments linked to Jain’s family business interests. Ankita, a well known face in the television industry, and Vicky, who comes from a business background with investments in multiple sectors, have often remained in the public eye due to their professional and personal lives. Their association with business ventures in Chhattisgarh has now drawn attention after action taken by tax authorities in the state.
The focus turned sharper after the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax department carried out raids across several locations connected to coal trading businesses linked to Vicky Jain’s family in Bilaspur. According to officials, the operations were conducted at offices, residential premises, and coal washery units as part of an investigation into alleged tax irregularities. The inquiry is examining possible misuse of input tax credit and compliance with GST regulations, with authorities attempting to assess the full scale of financial transactions involved.
Following the raids, firms associated with the Jain family reportedly deposited a significant amount toward GST dues. Mahavir Coal Washery deposited Rs 10 crore, Feel Coal Group paid Rs 11 crore, and Paras Coal and Beneficiation contributed Rs 6.5 crore, bringing the total amount deposited to Rs 27.5 crore. Officials confirmed that these payments were made during the course of the investigation and clarified that the probe has not concluded.
Sources within the department stated that teams are continuing to scrutinise transaction records, invoices, and tax filings linked to the companies. The aim, officials said, is to determine whether there were discrepancies in filings or irregular claims related to input tax credit. Authorities are also reviewing documentation collected during the raids to establish compliance levels and identify any potential violations under GST law.
Given the high profile nature of those associated with the businesses, the case has drawn wider public attention. However, officials emphasised that the investigation is being conducted strictly within the framework of tax laws and procedures, without special consideration for the individuals involved. They added that further action would depend on the findings of the ongoing review.
As of now, neither Ankita Lokhande nor Vicky Jain has issued a public statement regarding the raids or the investigation. The GST department has reiterated that inquiries of this nature are routine when discrepancies are suspected and that conclusions will be reached only after a detailed examination of all financial records.
