Priya Sachdev Kapur shares Sunjay Kapur’s birthday tweet, says the day feels especially heavy

Priya Sachdev Kapur marked her birthday this year with a deeply personal note, calling it a hard day as she remembered her late husband Sunjay Kapur. This is her first birthday since his death earlier this year. Priya shared her thoughts through Instagram Stories, offering a quiet glimpse into her grief and healing.

In her post, Priya shared a screenshot of an old tweet written by Sunjay, where he had wished her on her birthday. The message read, “When I count my blessings, I count you twice. You are the heart of our family, my best friend, and the most incredible mother to our children. Thank you for filling our lives with your warmth, love, and endless joy. We love you more than words can say. Happiest Birthday to my forever partner. (infinity symbol) @PriyaSKJ.”

Alongside the screenshot, Priya wrote about how the day felt without him. “Today is a hard day for me. I always looked forward to my birthday cards and wishes from you. They were filled with your love, affection and appreciation for me. I cannot celebrate my life when I have lost the love of my life (red heart emoji)!” she shared.

However, Priya also spoke about finding comfort in small moments shared with her children. She added, “But in the smallest moments, I feel you close. Azarias made me a birthday card and Safira wished me at midnight. That is enough for me. Through the children, I see the same love and appreciation you had for me and I know you are still here with us.”

Sunjay Kapur passed away on June 12 in London, United Kingdom. He reportedly suffered a heart attack while playing polo. His last rites were held on June 19 at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground in South Delhi, attended by family members and close associates.

Sunjay was the chairman of Sona Comstar. He was earlier married to actor Karisma Kapoor in 2003. They have two children, Samaira and Kiaan. The couple filed for divorce in 2014, which was finalised in 2016.

After the separation, Sunjay married Priya Sachdev. They welcomed a son, Azarias. Safira is Priya’s daughter from her earlier marriage to hotelier Vikram Chatwal and is Sunjay’s stepdaughter.

At present, Karisma’s children and Priya are involved in a legal dispute concerning Sunjay Kapur’s multibillion dollar estate.
