Part 6
Bani feels how her heart is beating in her throat. She is shivering all over her body and tries her best to keep her cool. She hears how Jai slams the door behind her and walks up to her. He blasts to her to sit down. Bani keeps standing and looking up at him with thunder on her face. 'Don't raise your voice! I'm not your maiden.' Jai is not at all pleased with Bani's tone and attitude. He grabs her forcefully by her arm. His breath passes her face like a cool breeze while he whispers loudly to her to sit down and shut her mouth. A firm push from him makes Bani fall back in the leather seat. Jai seats himself in a relax position in front of her. His legs spread and his hands crossed with both his index fingers on his lips. He looks up and down Bani with a frown on his face. He makes sure to picture every inch of her in his mind. He couldn't but notice that the dust and dirt couldn't camouflage her beauty. He wonders how she would look if she was clean. He tells himself to cut the crap, but his gaze refuses to let go. Bani is nothing less and she keeps blowing bubbles with the gum in her mouth while she looks constantly at Jai. The gum didn't taste that good anymore. It must have been a month old by now. Every time she was done with her gum, she would save it in a small paper and chew on it whenever she felt like it again. Most of the times she chew her gum when she was nervous. Her eyes were fixed on Jai. Not once did she look away from him. She was ready for anything. She had no idea how much time passed. There was an ice cold tension in the office. The silence started to get on Bani's nerves and the urge to look away from Jai was growing by the second, but she refused. She refused to let him win. He should look away first. Jai was thinking of what could have happened. He wonders if he had really lost his wallet or had it been stolen by the powerpuff girl in front of him. The sound of him clearing his throat startled Bani and she looked away from Jai. Jai gave her a mischievous grin, while Bani cursed herself for letting him win. 'So who of you girls had the nerves to steal my wallet? Was it you or the other one?' Bani sat up straight and started to make curl of a pluck of her greasy hair. Bani tried to remember when was the last time she actually washed her hair. It used to be always clean, silky and shining. Now its all dirty and greasy. She sighs deeply and blows another bubble, before she replies to Jai. 'Look sir. I've told you before. I found your wallet after you left. If I wanted to steal it why would I bring it back?!' Bani tried to sound as convincing as possible. Jai bent fore over and put his hand on her knee. Due to the cut trouser she was wearing he could feel her skin. 'Tell me one more time and now the truth!' He gave her a fake you-can-trust-me smile. Bani jumped out of the chair. 'How dare you touch me!' Her voice was high and furious. She gave Jai killer looks and her hand was itching to slap him. Jai go up himself and grabbed Bani's face with his right hand. Squeezing it, while he brought it close to his. Bani had tears in her eyes. She put her hands on Jai's arms, trying to pull herself away from him, but he was much stronger. His nose was touching her by now, while his furious eyes were looking deep down in hers. 'Don't you dare to raise your voice again. This is a respectable office, not one of the down market streets you grew up in! Sit down!' His voice was trembling with anger and Bani closed her eyes, trying hard to fight against her tears. She felt how her face got released from Jai's tight grip. She quickly sat down and looked at his shoes. He kept standing looking down on her for a couple of minutes. A ringing phone broke the deadly silence. Jai picked up and blasted at his secretary. 'I told you not to disturb me!' Jai was surprised to her Adi's voice at the other end. 'Cool down Jai. There is a major problem and we need you down here right now. Someone is trying to buy us out on the stock market.' Jai answered shortly that he is coming. He hung up and without saying one more word walked out his office. Bani could hear him telling his secretary to get a guard to prevent her from running away and to not let the girls speak to each other under any circumstances. When she was sure he was gone Bani let her tears free. 'I hate you Jai Walia!' She picked up a picture of him and a lady she assumed to be his mom from his desk and smashed it to the ground.
