Aamir Khan rebuts ‘purposeless’ allegation linked to his cameo in Rajinikanth’s Coolie

Aamir Khan recently appeared in a cameo role in Rajinikanth’s blockbuster Coolie. Soon after, social media was abuzz with a screenshot allegedly quoting the actor, where he appeared to call his role “purposeless.” The screenshot went viral, leading to debates among fans and sections of the media.

Aamir’s team issued an official statement to clarify the matter. The note dismissed the viral content as “fake,” stressing that the actor had not given any such interview. His team stated, “Mr. Aamir Khan has given no such interview and has made no negative comments about the film Coolie. Mr. Khan has the highest regard for Mr. Rajinikanth, Mr. Lokesh, and in fact the entire team of Coolie. The film has done over 500 Cr at the box office, which speaks for itself.”

The clarification came after screenshots circulating on X (formerly Twitter) alleged that Aamir had downplayed his appearance. The so-called interview suggested he said: “I accepted the cameo for Rajini saab. To be honest, I still can’t figure out what my character was meant to do.” The same post further claimed Aamir added: “It felt like I just walked in, said a line or two, and disappeared. There was no real purpose, no thought behind it. It was badly written.”

The viral text also included further comments, where Aamir was quoted as saying: “I thought it would be a fun appearance, but clearly, it didn’t land… It was a big mistake and one that I’ll be very careful about in the future.”

While these words spread widely online, Aamir’s team has firmly rejected them, reiterating that the actor never made such remarks. The timing of the clarification is significant, as Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has already emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of the year.

Featuring Rajinikanth in a commanding role, the film has collected over Rs 500 crore globally, winning praise from audiences and critics alike. Against this backdrop, Aamir’s team has sought to put an end to what they describe as “unverified reports,” underlining his respect for both Rajinikanth and Lokesh.

With this clarification, the actor aims to silence unnecessary controversy and redirect focus back to the success of Coolie.
