The clock ticked on and on all night as they both lay in bed wide awake. She would not turn to even look at him, while all he did was switch his focus from her to the ceiling fan. To the naked eye they were lying right next to each other but their hearts knew how far apart they actually were.

As she noticed the dawn befall them she slowly turned on her back to look at the ceiling. He noticed her shift but did not utter a word. Her hands lay on either side of her body right next to her legs. Without saying anything he moved slightly and tried to hold her hand which she softly shrugged off.

"Virenji Please."

There was a pain in his heart. All he wanted to do was reach over to her, hold her in his arms and kiss her. The distance between them felt physically painful to him. He looked at her. At her perfect face, her soft hair, her flawless skin, and her lips which looked more dry than he has ever seen them.

"Mujhse baat karo, please!"

She turned to look at him. Their eyes met for just a second before she looked away. She didn't have anything to say, neither did she have it in her to hear the truth. She knew what the truth was. She had heard Sheena's version of it so many time with so many details already. There was nothing new Viren could say. Except when he would tell her his version of how he fell in love with Sheena it would hurt her more.

"Tumhe woh necklace yaad hai? Joh maine tumhe tumhaare birthday pe diya tha? Jab maine woh necklace khareeda tha tab Sheena meri zindagi mein thi. Mujhe poora yakeen tha ki main shaadi usi se karoonga. Kayi baar maine socha ki main use woh necklace dedun, lekin harr baar bass soch ke hi reh gaya. Lekin jab main tumse mila tab ..."

Before he could continue she stopped him.. "Main jaanti hoon aap aage kya kahenge. Aap woh feeling describe karenge jo uss din uss balcony se girne ke baad aapko pehli baar dekh ke mujhe hui thi. Woh feeling jo harr baar aapko dekhke mujhe hoti hai, jiski wajah se mujhe poora bharosa tha ki aapse shaadi karna hi sahi faisla hai, woh feeling jispe aaj mujhe doubt ho raha hai"

"Nahi Jeevika Please." Viren sat up straight on the bed. "Main jaanta hoon tum naraaz ho lekin.."

Jeevika got up and fixed her position to meet Viren's. "Naaraz? Nahi, main naraaz nahi hoon. Bass aapmein mujhe mere Virenji Nahi dikh rahe jo hamesha dikha karte they."

She could see pain and anguish appear on his face. She could see that her words were hurting him. But she wasn't saying this to cause him pain. She was being honest with him, reciprocating the favour he never did her.

"I don't love her. I don't. And I never did. Aur tum jaanti ho mujhe yeh realise kab hua? Jab tum duppatto se latak karr apne ghar ki balcony chaddh rahi thi. Tumhaare ghar aane se pehle I was sure ki main iss rishte ke liye mana kardunga. Sheena se breakup hue ek mahina bhi nahi hua tha lekin tumse milne ke baad se maine Sheena ke bare mein kabhi socha hi nahi. Jiss din tumse pyaar hua uss din ehsaas hua ki Sheena se shaadi karke kitni badi galti karrleta main."

Jeevika got up from the bed in an attempt to walk away. But before she knew it Viren had caught hold of her hand and spun her around in such a manner that she was on the bed and he was lying on top of her. Her hands were on his chest as she looked into his eyes that had nothing but hurt in them right now, a pure reflection of her own eyes she was sure.

She could not bear to see him like this. This man was the love of her life. He had stood by her through thick and thin. Everything that she had today including her sister was because of him. She knew that no matter what she could never stop loving him. He was the reason she breathes. He was the sunshine of her life. Lines from a book she had read flashed into her mind.

"Before you my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars, points of light and reason. ...And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn't see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason, for anything."

This was the perfect description of her love for him, her life without him. She lifted her hand from his chest and placed it on his cheek, hoping that somehow it would lessen the pain on his face.

"Toh phir kyun Virenji? Kyun mujhe nahi bataya?"

"Kya batata tumhe? Jab tumne mujhe Manan ke bare mein saara sach bataya toh apne aap pe sharam aarhi thi mujhe. Tumse nazrein kaise milaata tumhe yeh bataane ke baad ki jisne tumse rishta ek doubt ki wajah se todna chaha usne ek mahine pehle kisi aur se almost shaadi karli thi? Kaise batata tumhe?"

Jeevika slightly pushed him and got up from the bed. "Mujhe maaf kardo Jeevika."

She turned to him and said "Iss waqt mere pass aapko dene ke liye kuch nahi hai. Maafi bhi nahi!"

Wow I don't even know what to say!
