Kajol has now spoken out about how Salman Khan and Aamir Khan handled questions regarding the age gap between actors and their younger co-stars in Bollywood. This revelation occurred on her show "Two Much," co-hosted by Twinkle Khanna, adding another layer to the conversation about industry dynamics.

Kajol admits Salman and Aamir avoiding age gap questions

In conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kajol admitted, "No they went around the topic quite nicely, ki humne toh nahi kiya hain… achha kiya hai kya? Really? Humko toh nahi laga (I don't think we did, did we really do that? We don't agree). I said really? Apko nahi laga? They beat around the bush a little bit but they kind of did not answer it."

Elaborating further, she added, "You can't get mad about these things. You genuinely can't. Not for any other reason, but its something out of your control. It is not something I can control."

What exactly happened

During the first episode of "Two Much," Kajol posed a thought-provoking question, "When a hero romances a younger woman, it's called ‘cinema magic’. But when an older heroine romances a younger man, it's called 'bold'. Why do you think that is?" This query set the stage for a discussion on the differing perceptions within the film industry.

Aamir's response focused on casting based on the story's needs, while Salman explained, "Ab itna kaam kar liya hain hum sab logone ki wo jodi purani lagti hain (We have worked together so much now that the pair looks old). So, for freshness in a film, you bring in someone you haven’t worked with much.” Kajol then pointed out, "It doesn't work the other way around, though," highlighting the imbalance in industry perceptions.

Examples of older actors paired with younger leads

The trend of older male actors pairing with younger female leads is prevalent, with examples including Aamir, Shah Rukh, Salman, and Sunny Deol in films like Sikandar, Sitaare Zameen Par, and Dabangg.

Concurrently, Kajol's recent work includes The Trial Season 2.
