Hi everyone
This just came to me and I thought I'll try my hand at writing.
Hope you all like it.
Part 1
At the age of Eighteen when your major worries were only about which University you ought to pick or which major you ought to follow if unexpected things happen for no apparent reason Manvi Choudhary would always say that "Everything happens for a reason", it had been her philosophy in life and today was no exception.
Manvi continued to stare at the computer screen and she could not believe that Virat Vadhera had sent her a friend request on face book. At first she had jumped up at the chance to accept his request but at the last minute changed her mind. She did not know if he had sent it because he remembered who she was or because she had just been one of those random "people you might know". Manvi wanted it to be the first because for the past few years all she had done was stalk his profile.
"Oh to hell with it," Manvi said, and clicked the accept button after debating about it for almost an hour.
"Why should I worry he's the one who sent me the request after all."
She finally had complete access to Virat's life. She wanted to go through all his photographs, see who his friends were, who he hung out with. To the naked eye Manvi may have looked to be an insane love struck puppy but Virat Vadhera had the looks and charm to bring about that insanity.
Manvi sighed as she was going through his recent photographs. "He doesn't seem to have a girlfriend" she thought.
"That's a good sign" she thought to herself.
"Who am I kidding Virat single, I doubt it girls are probably dying to be with him".
Manvi had not seen Virat since she was fourteen, he was two years her senior. They had instantly connected when they had first met and from what she could tell from the pictures he was still the charming personality she had known as he was the life of all the pictures.
"I still can't understand why he sent me a request. Does he really remember me?" Manvi thought again.
"Maybe I will send him a message." She started to click on the message box when she heard her mother calling from downstairs.
She wanted to ignore it first but she could hear her mother calling again.
"I guess it was for the best," she said as she started to log off from Facebook and shut down the computer.
"It's about time; you're going to get lost in your cyber world one of these days." Mrs Choudhary started.
"Here we go again" Manvi thought to herself and said, "Mom, I had an assignment".
"I'm sure you did." Mrs Choudhary said with a knowing smile.
Manvi was an outstanding student in school and because of it Mrs Choudhary didn't bother too much about her spending time on the internet because she knew that Manvi knew her limits and will not ignore her studies.
"Now come help me set the table, your dad should be down soon for dinner."
Manvi went about absent-mindedly setting the table thinking about Virat. She had spent the best vacation of her life with him, he had felt the same three years ago but unlike her she wondered if he still felt the same.
"Hello princess!" Mr Choudhary said while giving Manvi a kiss on her forehead. "How was your day?"
"Interesting" Manvi said with a smile.
She was very close to her father. Mr Choudhary was her confidant, her friend. The fact that she was an only child made sure that she was the apple of his eye. It doesn't mean to say that Manvi was not close to her mother but when she had a secret she found it easier to confide it with her father rather than her mother.
"Care to fill me in" Mr Choudhary said.
Manvi was about to tell her dad about Virat's friend request when her mom came in from the kitchen carrying a bowl of pasta in one hand.
"Nothing much, you know the usual," was all Manvi said and decided to change the subject.
"So have you decided on the University? "Mr Choudhary said.
"Dad, why do you want to send me away?" Manvi said.
Mr Choudhary smiled and said "you're an intelligent girl and you deserve the best. I know Xavier's College is far from home but it is the best college for studying Management."
"I know dad, it's just that I still have to get my head around staying away from home and living in the hostel." Manvi said.
"You will have to learn eventually darling, after all you will leave us eventually." Mr Choudhary went on.
"Dad, it's not like I'm going to run off and get married anytime soon."Manvi protested.
"I know my princess but I only want what's best for you." Mr Chaudhary said.
"I guess there's no getting out of me going away to University," Manvi thought to herself.
"Manvi, can you clear the table and wash up after dinner" Mrs Chaudhary said.
"Sure mom," Manvi answered.
Manvi cleared the table after dinner, and started washing the plates in the kitchen.
"I guess dads decided that I'm going to Xavier's college," Manvi said and sighed. "Dad knows what's best but I don't see the bigger picture as yet."
Manvi switched the lights off and checked the front doors as always and climbed up the staircase to her room. As she was going past her parents' room she gave a small knock. "Manvi" she heard her dad call out.. She opened the door and peaked in "Good night mom, Good night Dad, I'll be up till late, my physics final is on Monday." Manvi said.
"Don't be too late" Mrs Choudhary said as Manvi closed the door with a smile.
Manvi switched on the lights of her room and logged on back to her Facebook. "Just a little peak before I start with physics". She said to herself. She had about fifteen notifications including two personal messages; she clicked on the message box to find that one of them was from Virat.
"Am I dreaming" she said to herself.
The message was just one line saying "I still remember you cheating at cards".
Manvi's face felt flushed she could feel her face going red. He does remember me after all. Manvi wanted to reply to him but she didn't want to seem too eager, after all Virat was one of the cool guys he probably was just trying to be nice. She decided against replying Virat tonight and thought to open her physics book but all she could think of was the vacation she spent with him three years ago.
So how was it. Any good ?
