Hello lovely readers,

Firstly, thank you for stopping by to check out this FF/SS. If it's to your liking, please do stay and contribute (we are a talkative bunch), but if not to your liking, well... (you know what to do J).

I have been writing FFs for a bit now, and I have realized that there are some ' shall we call them 'suggestions' ' that are good to put forth and get out of the way so that we can make this experience as enjoyable as possible for all of us. Admittedly, many of these are to make this easier for me ;), but I do hope you can cooperate.

Onto the Suggestions:

A) Please Do Not ask for longer chapters. At times I write 5 pages, at times I write three paragraphs, but usually they average to about 2-3 pages per update. I update at least once a week (for some of my stories, more often), so hopefully this will not pose a problem.

B) Please Do Not ask for specific scenes (i.e., More scenes on couples that you like!). I have tried to be the sort of writer who accedes to such wishes, but have found out the distressing truth that I am not (alas!). So, I request you to refrain and let me tell the story as I wish.

C) Please Do Not ask for updates if you do not comment other than to say, "Update please!"

D) And lastly, I have to address the growing number of buddy requests. While I am flattered and thankful, the PM-ing is a bit of a torture for me as I can only do 20 at a time and I have 4 ongoing stories. Thus, I have decided to do the following.

- I will only accept buddy requests from readers who have commented (read comment, not like) at least three times on any of my threads.

- I will delete readers from my list who have stopped commenting for a month or more as I will assume that you have stopped reading my stories and do not wish to be bothered with PMs.

- There are a few readers who offer their comments via PM to me; while I quite enjoy your feedback, I request you to post it on the thread itself, as my PM box tends to become crowded as is.

Even though it doesn't seem like it at times, I do read every single one of your comments and cherish them. I show my gratitude by usually updating more often than to leave a note saying 'Thank you". I hope you will take that manner of Thanks instead of my "Thank you's" anyways J

Lastly, I do encourage you to comment. In the past, the best FF threads I have had (i.e. REEL, The Oldest Story, Love and Despair, Eden) have all had healthy and prolific discussions on the characters, situations, and the like with my readers becoming quite friendly with each other; they have become something of a reader group that travel together, I have noticed, even checking in when a key member is missing for a few days. That sort of camaraderie and engagement is the greatest muse for a writer and the best reward as well.

Chapter 43: Hell Hath No Fury...

There were moments when he was angry enough to throttle his boss... today had many of them.

Khushi had called him last night to let him know that she had sent in a request for leave to ASR to be effective as of today. He had told her that Arnav was not likely to accept any such requests and she had indicated that she had offered to resign if he did not grant the leave. He had told her that Arnav did not respond well to ultimatums, even modestly worded ones. She had come back and said that she fully expected ASR to ask for her resignation. He had asked her whether this was necessary, if she couldn't wait for just a few more days when things wouldn't seem so dire. She had replied that she had been thinking of leaving the company for a while and that this just gave her an excuse to do so even if under less-than-optimal circumstances. He had asked her what she planned to do and she had told him that she had already booked a ticket to Lucknow for two weeks. She wanted to get away; clear her head. Evidently the long-overdue conversation with Lavanya had gone just as anticipated, which was to say, not that well. He had agreed with her then. She needed a break. And some TLC at her family's bosom seemed just the thing.

He had woken early this morning and had seen that she had sent him an email after midnight. As expected, ASR had asked for her resignation. She had said in the email that she was relieved. That she was taking the 5 am train to Lucknow. And here he was in the office, just 3 hours later. He felt like shit, although his boss looked none the worse for wear for all that he had singlehandedly managed to make someone like Khushi resign overnight. And that last dig about Veronica! As if he was groveling after the chick like he was some love-starved mongrel. And what was up with how ASR treated the girl like she was some princess who needed to be shut away in some tower somewhere! She did need to be shut away, but it was hardly because men were losing their sleep over her!

He pulled at his tie as he closed ASR's office door behind him. He had half a mind to take the rest of the day off, but of course, this meeting had taken care of that wish. Just as he started to walk down the hallway, he heard the click of heels and looked up to see...

"Bhabhi?"

Lavanya put her hand up and stopped him and without breaking her stride said,

"I am not talking to you yet, Rajeev! Hato!"

"Bhabhi..." he made his voice conciliatory as he tried to reach for her hand.

She pushed it aside before saying, "She, I can understand. She is vulnerable. But you?? How could you?"

"How could I what? Date her or keep it from you?"

That seemed to make her stop and consider for a moment, but then she caught his hand in hers tightly as she said, "Dating a woman marked by that man inside is like asking for your heart – not to mention, your ego - to be shredded to bits. Are you that masochistic?"

"She told you that I know?" he asked her, surprised.

"No, I guessed that you knew. You're one of the most perceptive guys I know, and she is not exactly subtle in how she feels."

"Then how come you didn't figure it out?" he asked, hoping she would forgive his temerity. She was a force to be reckoned with when she was upset, although he had never met a more fair woman in his life. When Sohan bhaiyaa had announced that he was in love, the rest of the cousins, including he himself, had actually been quite amazed that he was even interested in matters related to women and love. Sohan bhaiyaa was the most brilliant of the lot of them, had been scouted by any number of universities before he was done with his bachelors at IIT-Kanpur and had finally gone to MIT before returning to India to start on own start-up. Through all that time, until he found ASR to invest in him, he had shown no real interest in women or anything remotely related to romance. And then he had shown up with this seriously hot chick... errr... Lavanya bhabhi... and they had all been seriously impressed...

IIT, MIT, and Lavanya bhabhi... surely that was too much blessing to shower on one man? It had been his wedding toast to them, which had gathered quite a bit of laughter from the good folks attending the wedding...

"She has been hiding out from me for the past two months, telling me that she has been working every weekend! Evidently, she was with you all that time! But that's for later. Right now, I need to see that man inside to give him a piece of my mind! Unprofessional bas***d that he is!"

He felt the first inkling of a smile since the time when Khushi had told him that she was resigning. If anyone could talk to ASR without caring two hoots about his temper or power, it was Lavanya bhabhi.

"A cad, bhabhi." He told her before she turned to leave.

"What?" she looked back at him in confusion.

"A cad, that's what he is. Don't insult his paternity. Insult his behavior."

For a moment, her expression was blank, but then she smiled and raised her hand to his cheek. "Why couldn't she fall in love with you?"

"Wrong timing." He told her with a wink.

She smiled again and started to turn away, but then stopped him by grabbing his arm.

"How long have you known that you are not upset by this news?"

"Known what?" he asked even though he knew perfectly well what she was talking about.

She raised an eyebrow and he sighed as he answered, "The whole time."

"You have known that she liked someone else the whole time and you still went out with her. What is wrong with you?" she smacked him on his arm.

And suddenly all he could see was Vaibhavi crashing against that wall when that man had pushed her and how she winced before she straightened and went back at him. Her back must be all black and blue now...

He blinked to will the image away before he looked back at Lavanya.

"I am not as masochistic as you think, bhabhi."

On impulse, he took her hand and kissed the back of it and when she looked surprised, he smiled again.

"Give him hell." He said before he walked away.

That bhabi-devar(i'm assuming he's younger, although I'm not sure) scene was awesome. That was brilliant! And when Rajeev told her to not insult his paternity, but his behavior; I laughed, earning some odd looks from people... La-Rajeev's relationship and his relationship with his cousin was portrayed beautifully, through Rajeev's thoughts.

So Khushi had already told Rajeev about all the happenings? Awesome.

I can't wait for Arnav-Lavanya's "conversation."
