You know someone had linked me this thread when it was still an OS with Silly Twit, and I had loved it. I haven't still managed to go through all the parts yet though...but just want to say I've really enjoyed reading everything so far. I hadn't read your previous works, and now I realize what I was missing out on. Will try to catch up with the rest of the parts soon.

Ladies,

I have had an extremely hectic week and thus FF-writing had to go on hold. So, I am restarting with a light chapter. I know we all want Arnav-Khushi moments, but everything has to move at its own pace... ;) On that note, here's Chapter 19.

Chapter 19: Naakka Mukka

"You want to throw a party for the twins at my house? Why?" she heard Lavanya's surprised tone and looked at her as she popped the orange slice in her mouth. Lee was looking at her with a confused expression and she walked over to her side.

She gestured to her in question and Lee shook her head just before she said into the phone, "Yea, but Arnav, why?"

Arnav? He wanted to throw a party for the twins? What the... Dear Lord, now she sound just like him... well, that wasn't really true. She had been saying that particular teaser for a few years now... the only difference from her boss was that she said it in her head rather than out loud.

"Alright... I will hold you to it." Lee said before she hung up.

"He wants to throw a party for the twins here?" she asked when Lee turned to her.

"Yea, it was so weird. He says he wants to introduce us to somebody, but that he doesn't want it to be contrived, or else the other party wont' really go for it. So, he wants to throw this party and I get to invite all the guests... whoever I want... and he is going to come with whoever this person is. How weird is that?"

"What sort of charity case needs his backing to meet people?" she asked as she popped another slice in her mouth before extending the orange to Lee.

"I know, right! It has to be family. There is no way that ASR would even bother otherwise. I mean, since when does the man have time to facilitate social interactions for people? Since when does he care?" Lee answered as she too took an orange slice.

"Vaibhavi." Khushi said automatically.

"Vai-who?" Lee asked, throwing a questioning look at her.

She hadn't told Lee about all the happenings of the week as yet. Neither about her outburst at ASR nor his response, not his meeting with her on Friday evening, not the calls that came from Vaibhavi, certainly not her thoughts about it, and definitely not her introduction to ASR's bizarrely unique tiny pixie of a cousin from the US. She hadn't told only because she didn't even know where to start... but she would though... they had the rest of the afternoon.

Just as Lee reached for another slice of orange, they heard someone running down the stairs. They both looked up to see Sohan, who now paused dramatically at the foot of the stairs and cleared his throat to say...

"Ladies, if we could have about 5 minutes of your time."

Khushi and Lavanya looked at each other and then looked back at Sohan and leaned their elbows on the counter side by side, all exaggerated attention.

Sohan winked before walking over to grab the tv's remote.

He turned it on along with the DVD player and everything turned on a slight beep. He looked back at them to give another wink before looking back up at the stairs.

As they watched, he put his thumb and index finger between his lips and produced an ear-splitting whistle.

The women drew back and looked to the top of the stairs.

As they watched the twins sauntered over almost as if in slow motion. They were wearing tiny little boxer shorts that came to their knees. Over the boxer shorts was a long cloth wrapped around and folded up, south indian 'lungi' style. They each had on a red and black plaid button-down shirt that were wide open with black t-shirts underneath. Jai's tee said, "Naakka" and Nikhil's said "Mukka". If that wasn't enough, the women's gaze moved up to find that they each had neon red rimmed kiddie sun-glasses perched on their nose. Khushi unconsciously moved up her glasses that had slid down her nose.

Before they could get over the twins' attire, they heard Sohan turn on the DVD and the video came on with a deep male voice booming out, both the twins' lip-syncing to it,

"Everybody! This Is A Song Which Is Gonna Be A Massive Hit Of The Year! Thank you." They took a bow before running down the stairs.

Just as Khushi's eyes widened and Lavayna's orange slice paused at her lips at this introduction, the twins broke out into some kick-ass moves while their lips rapidly moved along with the rapid-fire Tamil coming out of the TV.

"Something something something something... Naakka Mukka Naakka Mukka Naakka Mukkaa"

Khushi and Lavanya looked back and forth between the video on the massive TV and the twins, and sure enough they were almost perfectly reproducing all of the moves in the video including one where they pulled back their shirt and jumped up hit each other with their chest.

"What the..." Khushi heard Lavanya say in wonder while she felt herself accidentally swallow an orange seed.

Now the twins were lifting up their 'lungis' to show their little boxers and Naakka Mukkaa raged on with the most frenetic steps Khushi had ever seen.

She coughed as the seed went down the wrong pipe and Lavanya slapped her back automatically without taking her eyes off of the twins.

"Laaari Sona Laari Sona Laari Sona Ree..." the twins sang the interludes now as they looked at their father. He winked at them and it seemed to be the signal that the twins were waiting for because they ran over to their side and dragged them by their hands. Lavanya finally put the orange slice in her mouth while Khushi left the rest of the orange on the table before allowing the boys to pull them along.

"Come on Mama..." Jay said just as Nikhil pulled Khushi's hand and said, "Like this Bee Maasi!"

She looked at him stumped as he pulled on the edges of his lungi and did what looked like a frog jump.

"Come on! Come on!" They both backed up and did the pulling-on-shirt-and-jumping-up-to-hit-each-other-with-their-chests move.

Khushi and Lavanya looked at each other and burst out laughing. They looked at Sohan and saw that he too was trying to contain his laughter.

"Come on.. come on.." They were insistent as they stuck their tongue out the side and did a side jerking movement with their hips. Khushi had always been 100% certain that 'cool' just ran in the Vardhan Twins' genes and this last move just confirmed all her conjectures.

She looked at Lavanya again and they winked at each other before they both joined in with the,

"Laari Sona Laari Sona Laari Sona ree..."

They did their best to mimic the moves from the TV that the twins apparently knew like the back of their hands. Sohan joined in as well. The got the hang a few of the moves and moved along, inhibitions begone...

And that's how the Vardhan family's Naakka Mukka tradition was born...
