Chapter 38: Walking Menace

He stood at the bar waiting for Khushi; she had excused herself to the ladies room before leaving.

Just as he turned to the bartender to ask for a glass of water, there was a commotion from the restroom area and he thought he distinctly heard...

Shit!

He rushed over just in time to the crazy little Raizada push at a man's chest with all her might. The man looked at her, spitting mad and pushed her with significant force, sending her crashing against the wall. Just as Rajeev felt his legs pick up running speed, he heard Khushi's gasp and noticed that she was standing against the wall, the back of her hand against her mouth, shocked out of her wits.

His attention returned to Vaibhavi just in time to see her straighten away from the wall that she had hit. He could tell that she was hurt from her posture, but before he could reach her, she launched herself at the guy again, knocking him backwards. She was also cursing at the top of her lungs in full-blown English. As much as she could speak Hindi and pretty fluently too sans her accent, she reverted immediately to English when she became emotional.

He reached her side within moments and pulled her off of the guy, but she started kicking and flailing, which had enough force to loosen his hold around her.

"Calm the hell down!" he told her as he tried to pull her off again, but she yelled back, "f**k you! And f**k him too! f**k all men who think that women are their chattel to use and abuse!" the little speech agitated her even more and she tried to go after the man again. Rajeev turned her around and picked her up and threw her over his shoulder before straightening and backing away from the man.

Khushi rushed over to his side but before she could speak, he asked her to go get Arnav. While she rushed off, he looked at the man who was still on the floor, but slowly starting to get up now.

"Get the hell out of here." He told him, but when the man appeared to be moving in slow motion, he spoke again, now in a harsher tone, "Seriously, get the f**k out of here before I put her down!"

The man had stood up just then and finally looked in his direction. Vaibhavi was still kicking and screaming and hitting at his back. The man pointed at her and said, "She needs to be put away in some mental institution before she is beaten and publicly killed like the rabid bitch that she is!"

To say that he saw red would have been an understatement. He preferred to do without violence, but there were moments when it was absolutely necessary. But the thrashing bundle in his arms didn't let him do any such thing as she yelled, "I will show you a rabid bitch, you f**k. Put me down so I can show him! Put me Down I said!!!"

He restrained her by tightening his hold around her calves, which were quite bare. The stilettos that she was wearing before were missing as well. He noticed that her short tight black skirt was riding up on her thighs with how he was holding her and turned around to give her some privacy before he let her slide down his front. Before she could be free though, he tightened his arms around her so that she was still within his hold. He couldn't trust her yet to not jump on the guy.

He heard a sound then, almost like something breaking, and turned back around, all the while clutching Vaibhavi back against him.

Instead of the man, they found Arnav. Vaibhavi quieted.

The man was on the ground. There was blood coming from both his nose and his mouth and he appeared to have blacked out.

"Shit!" Rajeev muttered. This was turning out to be a fine end to a fine night.

Arnav looked back towards them before walking in their direction.

"Get your hands off of her!" Arnav barked out and Rajeev opened his hold and put his hands up in yielding.

He saw Vaibhavi look up at him briefly in surprise, stumbling as he suddenly let her go.

"You're seriously a walking menace. Accusing yet another man, huh? Is this your life's mission?" he asked her then and the brief vulnerability in her eyes receded until her expression was blank again.

Arnav was by their side then and Vaibhavi turned around to face her cousin. "I was handling it." she said, albeit in resignation.

"Yes,V. I could see how well you were handling it! The man was yelling out that you needed to be put down like a rabid dog and you had to be physically restrained by one of my employees." Rajeev noticed the extra emphasis on the last word and mentally shook his head. 4 years of rapport down the drain in one single night.

"Next time you want to play savior, do it with your own girlfriend. Don't touch my sister!" Arnav finally said, looking up at him.

"Noted, sir." He answered and saw Vaibhavi turn to look at him one last time.

And then Arnav walked out, taking Vaibhavi with him, sparing no glance to any of the people clustered around to watch the spectacle, including Khushi.

oh that was unexpected...i thought evrything will be fine and the bar chapter was over..i think arnav is still not recoverd frm what he saw between rajeev and khushi...cant wait for next chpter
