And yet chose better and classier roles than rest of his contemporaries. Nailed them and still remained under-appreciated.

yes i am calling Kashyap as boot licking .. his own statement that Adi or KJO can make career but can't destroy makes it very clear ...

all of us know how these biggies can break someone in BW .. So Kashyap's own statement gives out a very clear and loud message about his own agenda of covering it up and diverting the narrative .. Like earlier said there is no difference between kangana and him ..

No.. sushant was not licking anyone's boot , otherwise he would not be ignored, targeted or mocked, or bullied like anything .. in fact he was one of the very few rare ppl who believed in fighting for the injustice that was meted out to him ... His showdown with biggies just says about it ..

I only disagreed with one aspect where he said that people like Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra can only create careers but cannot destroy careers. Absolutely not. They can easily destroy careers and they definitely have the power and clout to do that. Any newcomer who wants to become a star eventually has to act in big films, and all the big films are produced by these biggies. If they boycott the newcomer, where will they act? Agree with you there. I feel like the interviewer should have also asked him about all the blind items and how the PR machinery CAN sometimes dampen careers if not ruin- Kashyap is a straight shooter. Maybe he wouldnt have taken names but we wouldve gotten some insight into how the negative press around SSR came about and put out by whom?

But there are systematic issues that need be sorted out within the industry and if you can't bring yourself to acknowledge that then your whole argument falls flat.

Everyone and their brother knows how much the media these days plays a part in making a star. A lot of the buzz surrounding these star kids is manufactured to the point where it ain't just about the media giving the audience what they want. It's also about the media pretty much shaping the opinions of the audience out there. The more you hear about someone, the more you will start to believe that their hype probably is real. That's how propaganda works in any darn field.

I agree with you, the media definitely disadvantaged him. This can be seen in interviews where he was present with other co-actors but barely asked any questions. But as you say, buzz or hype is also manufactured and propagated then that was on him as well. After Chicchhore, his co-actors did success interviews but I didn't see any for him. He and his team needed to put him out there so that his success could be visible and validated. Media is almost always willing to prop up successful actors - as soon as Kartik, Ayushmann, Siddhant saw success in a big way, they were on front pages, walking ramp shows, magazine covers, etc. In fact, even Sushant had done all of this back when he saw success after KPC and SDR but then over the years, he was much less visible so why?
