Ekata Kapoor definitely redefined Indian tv, but it was for worse. If she thinks, she contributed towards the betterment of society, she needs ummm...I am at a loss of an suggestion...but she needs something. Something strong.

As someone who used to watch those serials and loved them for whatever I can't help laughing at how delusional Ekta is. I thought she was smarter than that. Or maybe she's saying it for the heck of it.

Yes plenty of women sought validation through these serials. The sacrifices of the bahu, evil sisters in law , callous husbands, infidelity ,all that addressed along with lots of masala and suspense. Validation and dopamine . Not bad. It is true that a lot of women felt seen after watching these shows, as ironic as that sounds because the Viranis and Aggarwals couldn't have been more far removed from the reality of the average Indian woman. It was like there was a mainstream conversation on cable about daughters in law and how they struggled in the sasural to live up to the ideal bahu who never existed. And Ekta is a good businesswoman. She knew what to make and how to sell it. She dished saas bahu and sanskaar for as long as she could milk it . The moment she realised there's money in sleaze anc perversion she switched to soft p*rn with Alt Balaji.

Her serials were undeniably regressive and sexist. Promoted misogyny and superstitions on top of being DUMB. She knows this . Anurag knows this. Anurag knows that she knows everyone knows it. But there she is ,with her 'research ' . 😆

Full of extramarital affairs, one brother marrying another's gf. Justifying EMA through your Alt Balaji shows, women falling for Mihir Virani when he was 60, Baa playing at 200+ not out. As Sarabhai vs Sarabhai aptly named all saas bahu shows 'Uska Pati Sirf Mera Hai'. That is what you make.

You are dumb, but Anurag K is insufferable. You are both different kinds of evils. So by all means continue abusing each other on our behalf.
