A supposed tweet by filmmaker Siddharth Anand has shifted attention from Dhurandhar’s box office run to an unexpected online debate. The film continues to power through a dull year for Hindi cinema, yet a screenshot shared on Reddit has triggered fresh chatter about whether Anand took a dig at South Indian producer Naga Vamsi.

The screenshot shows an X user posting a picture of Vamsi with the question, “Where is this guy?" Siddharth Anand’s alleged reply reads, “Somewhere not getting sleep.” The Reddit post claims the director deleted the comment soon after, which only added to the speculation around it.

This point comes at a time when Dhurandhar has been drawing praise across industries. Before this controversy flared up, Anand had already spoken highly of the film on social media. He wrote, “DHURANDHAR is nasha. It clings to you. You want more of it… propelled by @AdityaDharFilms’ conviction and passion… I’m going again. I don’t remember the last time I wanted a theatrical rewatch this badly.”

His note of appreciation joined a chorus of reactions from actors and filmmakers. Anupam Kher called the film powerful and well performed, crediting the team for its clarity of craft. Akshay Kumar also extended warm praise, saying Dhurandhar reminded him why audiences still crave strong theatrical stories. Both comments helped widen the conversation around the film without leaning into rivalry narratives.

The sudden resurfacing of Vamsi’s old remark is what fuelled the latest discourse. During a 2023 roundtable, he had told Boney Kapoor that South Indian films changed how Bollywood viewed cinema. “This might sound harsh… You guys were stuck making films for Bandra and Juhu,” he said, adding that titles like RRR, Baahubali, Animal and Jawan reset expectations. The comment drew backlash at the time, and Vamsi later said his intent was to point out how event films revived interest in Hindi cinema.

With Dhurandhar’s strong run, the old clip is back online, leading many to interpret Anand’s alleged reply as a response to that larger debate. Whether intended or not, it has added another layer to an already heated discussion on regional influence and shifting box office trends.

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar continues to perform strongly. The film has collected Rs 180.25 crore in six days and is expected to cross the Rs 200 crore mark by the end of its first week.
