Even Madhur bhandarkar makes some really good movies but it usually has some mature content so you may not like it but in the end they are still griping and worth a watch.

I have watched most of Madhur B movies,😆 I liked Chandni Bar and Fashion, LOVED PAGE 3, but he has lost his touch now with Heroine, didnt even watch his last 2...Jail and Calendar Girls.

I dont mind mature content as long as it is handled tastefully, its the CRASSNESS and vulgarity that offends me!

I dnt really care for the numbers game and means f**kall to me really.I'd rather have quality over quantity any day.I've watched Aligarh and thought the screenplay was brilliantly written and Manoj was effortless as ever.Just recently I watched Manoj's Buddiya Singh and he managed to leave me spellbound yet again with his brilliance.Bolly film makers do underestimate the intelligence of the audiences somewhat I'd say, as films are seen as more for entertainment than a form of art.Its more about how well can an escapist venture be crafted as it's escapism that Indian audiences seek more in comparison to audiences abroad.

What a stereotype lol
Desi's watch masala flicks and NRIs watch critically acclaimed movies.
I would say NRIs too watch masala movies there's no collection of critically acclaimed movies masala genre are top earners in NRI areas as well.

And one more thing, shows like Naagin and Simar ka sasural too tops in NRIs area just like desi areas.

Off course they do hence why Im wondering if there is any truth to that statement or not. I myself watch everything but this "we have enough going on in our lives that we see daily that we dont want to go and watch the same again in theatre" does hold some value. It is no different let me give you examples. I dislike pizza hut, burger king anything and would prefer some birynai or even some sasta cheap restaurant anyday. My friends in India are exact opposite they love going to kfc or nandos or pizza hut or star bucks its their favorite places to hang out. Why? because they are tired of eating same food so they go out to eat something else. Im tired eating at mc donalds and would prefer desi food anyday.

Kinda same

I'm an NRI and I watch all kinds of genres and enjoy them all. Again, the movie/content should be really good, thats all that matters.

Btw if you like these kind of movies, watch Trishna of Freida Pinto, its gud 👍🏼.

I get you.
Since there's too much tension already so people prefer to watch something away from reality.
But then figures says that close to reality Hindi movies aren't hit on other bollywood consuming countries either. So I think most people take cinema as a medium to take a break from real life.
I think the same goes with HW as well. The biggest hits are fantasy based movies
