Foreigners of desi origin se kya matlab hai...I am technically a foreigner but dil poora Hindustani hai❤️...and I like the movies which entertain me...warna mere pass apne khud ke itne gum hain ki poori movie ban jaaye...for me movies are an escape from reality...education ke liye schools hain na.

Not everyone is an NRI here since some are also from Bangladesh and Pak etc. Hence I used that term. People living abroad are indeed foreigners of desi origin. At least those with other citizenships since India doesn't give you dual nationality.

Desi's watch masala flicks and NRIs watch critically acclaimed movies.
I would say NRIs too watch masala movies there's no collection of critically acclaimed movies masala genre are top earners in NRI areas as well.

And one more thing, shows like Naagin and Simar ka sasural too tops in NRIs area just like desi areas.

it is...NRIs made the critically acclaimed dilwale a super hit it didnt do well in India

To be honest, I love masala films they're just so fun and they make you forget your life problems for a few hours😆 Can't watch things that are close to reality anymore they just make me more bored as I grow older😳

Just like a section in foreign origin watch these movies like masan lsd lunchbox etc. same wise a large section of people do watch them in India. Important question is will they watch in movie hall by paying say rs 300 ? may be negative becoz most of them watch these critic movies online. so no difference here 😆 . Infact we have more and more melodramatic masala movies as movie makers trying to cater more and more business from overseas. If critic movies popular there than they would have eagerly grab that market of say 100 crore foreign market with a paltry budget of say few crores like massan If these critic movies viewers are more among desi than they would have specifically try to cater that market but that is not the general case. so yes a section may watch critics movies in both side and more in online.
To have a better perspective compare overseas business of masala movies vs. critics movies. ( distribution or number of screen play lesser role here as less demand result in less distribution ) . If critics movies are popular ( preferable ) among desi than massan would be a blockbuster and dilwale , sultan , dhoom etc. etc. would have disaster collection in overseas , which is not the case.

Isn't it the other way around? NRIs generally prefer masala movies because most of them are family-oriented and we watch Bollywood with family. If we were to watch quality.. we would prefer buying tickets of Hollywood flicks instead.
