Day2- #Boss has collected approx 7Cr. Final figures will be given tomorrow morning.
BOSS Holds Well On Day Two
Akshay Kumar starrer "Boss" opened on Bakri-Eid festival with 2,750 screens across the country and faced almost nil competition at box office. The film did well but to be fair was disappointing with below average figure.
Film managed only 14.35 cr nett on day one which was not great considering marketing and release. Film was super strong on day two in single screens and north heartland pushed the film in safe zone. But then film was hurt badly by poor show in multiplexes in west and south.
As per early estimates, film should collect close to 8.5-9 cr nett on day two taking 23.25 cr nett which is good but not great. Good news is that film did not fall badly on day two like OUATIMD and "Besharam". But bad news is that start point is so low that film needs to hold too well in order to meet humongous expectations.
Below are the collection for the film -
Domestic Collection | |
Wednesday | 14.35 cr nett |
Thursday | 08.90 cr nett |
Total Domestic Collections | 23.25 cr nett |
Total Overseas Collections | 04.50 cr nett |
Total Worldwide Collection | 27.75 cr nett |
Akshay Kumar's Boss extended its excellent run at single-screens on Day 2, but the cause of concern continued to be its multiplex business where the film has dropped by 40-50% on its second day.
As per early estimates based on collections from a few centres, Boss has collected around 7 - 8 crore on its second day at the domestic box office.
Friday is a holiday in some parts of the country for Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, but Saturday and Sunday will be crucial in deciding the film's fate at the box office. So far, the response at mass-centres has been fantastic, but way below-the-mark at big centres and multiplexes. If these centres manage to pick up over the course of the weekend, then Boss could get close to collecting 50 crore in its 5 day extended weekend.
After the failure of Besharam and now with Boss not opening as well as it was expected to, the big topic of discussion in the trade is about extended weekends. Are 5 day extended weekends too risky? Is it a safer bet to release films on a normal Friday, thereby avoiding the risk of word-of-mouth killing a potentially good 3 day weekend?
If Boss doesn't show adequate growth in business on Saturday and Sunday, producers might think twice before continuing the trend that started with films like Ghajini and 3 Idiots.
hmmm might give it a miss then... thanks for letting me know. 😃Originally posted by: DB_reloaded
