tabu is good plain and simple, even in commercial cinema like hum saath Saath hai, hera peri, do can't say she just did non mainstream she did both, but was recognized more in the latter.

to be honest for me tabu wasnt much of a good actress .films are not only about acting its also about entertainment something which u can sit back watch relax .unfortunately none of Tabu's movies were able to do that for me .Since everyone is referring her "time" let be frank i was quite young at her time whatever movie i have watched her on TV she is not that great actress for me .most of her movies were all preachy kind be it astitva chandni bar .The problem was not the time she just cant hold the audience .her movies may be the story set up pace used to bore after a certain point of time .i mean i wanted to watch chandni bar for all the not obvious reasons 😉 .i even did but after some time i just couldnt watch it in spite of having all those things which i wanted to see .she just bored me .She doesnt have the thing to hold u .may be i m not intelligent enough to watch her movies

as far as comedy is concerned she sucked in it be it saajan chale sasural or biwi no 1(all i can remember ) .Karishma was better than her in this department any day

as far as the movies are considered where she played -ve roles like Jaal or DNPYK there was nothing much appealing about her infact what she could nt do in such movies kajol did in just one scene of Gupt .kajol carried that movie on her shoulders she was outstanding in the movie .Tabu didnt appealed me in such movies

As far as the movies she is known for trust me its boring .i m not saying that movies have all to be commercial potboiler or mindless entertainer but it should have some entertainment even if its offbeat or not so commercial .i havent seen namesake tried once it was on TV but couldnt watch more than few minutes even there i felt it was more of preachy .most of her intense movies were more or less same i didnt find much difference there .long story short She can just hold those who want entertainment .The only movie of Tabu which i completely watched without dozing off was cheeni kum to be honest even there it was more because of the dadi ,AB paresh rawal and the little girl .i never found tabu versatile

As far as vidya is considered she has that pull that compel the audience to watch her .I dont understand y do people consider Vidya 's movies like Hey baby and KK flop

HEY BABY WAS THE SEVENTH HIGHEST GROSSER MOVIE OF THAT YEAR (was a hit) and KK WAS NOT A FLOP it did average business .vidya job was appreciated in the movies .She got flak for her costumes.if some say vidya didnt do much even Vidya agrees ,but if kareena can claim to be a best actress box office queen for her not so great roles in movies like Ra1 bodyguard i think we should give Vidya some credit .

^ I actually like Kismat Connection. It was set in my city. No matter how her movies did, Vidya is consistent with her acting.

As for Tabu, I never connected with her acting. She didn't have the draw to pull me in.

^ that's 1 movie in which she has not much scope to perform. It's not like Katrina Kareena were all that great in Ra.One, Bodyguard, MBKD, etc.

she wasnt that bad in the movie .there wasnt much great acting there even Vidya accepts it .if u ask me the definition of bad here it was something acc to me what kareena did in ra 1 and BG

Tabu is way better actress than Vidya, but Vidya has more screen presence than Tabu..

Hey Baby was more bearable that the atrocious MBKD, Ra.One, Bodyguard, Ready, and TMK. This coming from someone whose patient is weary of slapstick Akshay starrers.

Other than the time factor, I would say Vidya can connect to the audience in a certain way which Tabu could not... not denying the fact that Tabu is a fantastic actress but yeah like I said Vidya connects more somehow... at least that's how it appears to me...
