Why Vidya but not Tabu?

Tabu doesn't have dirty picture

Most of tabu films are very serious and no hit songs. Only good script (sometimes not entertening if not all the time) and good peformances. But ppl go to the cinema to be entertained not to see good performances.

While dirty picture had skin show, entertanment, hit music, great performances, and a good script.

Vidya had a sucess with TDP...now let's see if the same can be said with Kahani. Afterall she is no Katrina.

Yes I think the outfits were similar. Vidya looked like she was trying too hard to look sexy. Tabu looks sexy and erotic without trying too hard☺️😉😆

The timing, which means just plain luck.

Nowadays, people, specially younger people watch movies like Paa, Ishqia , NOKJ. So they have business and arw talked about. Also social media, networking, blogs have been risen a lot giving word of mouth publicity to such movies. These were not the case when tabu was working

Movies like Maqbool were not so much talked about, younger people had no such networking to generate interest in such offbeat movies.

Most of all perception is changing. Before people thought such movies cannot entertain, they are too high brow intellectual. Now they are seen as helthy and thought provoking entertainment.

I dunno why many people think Tabu wasnt successful. She was very successful in her genre. She was the first choice for offbeat roles. I think today Vidya has more competition from others like Konkona and Chitrangada compared to what Tabu had in her times. Yes Tabu didnt have a 50cr + blockbuster like TDP but those times were different.

Vidya should stick to off beat roles because she's a good performer in these roles. But I dont consider her a versatile actress, bcoz she is meant only for roles like TDP, Ishiqya, Parineeta. She cannot pull off roles the one in Kismat Konnection, then Salaame ishq her pairing with John was soo thanda.

I feel sad for Tabu that inspite of good acting she didnt get the attention she deserved. I would choose Tabu in Chandni Bar over all Vidya's movies.
