Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce have taken their relationship to the next step. After two years of quietly building their bond, the singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end confirmed their engagement with a joint post on Instagram. The photos showed the couple surrounded by flowers, with Swift wearing a diamond ring.

In a lighthearted caption, they wrote, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

The relationship, which initially flew under the radar, has become one of the most closely followed celebrity romances in recent years. Kelce first hinted at his admiration for Swift during an episode of his podcast New Heights in July 2023. Referring to her tradition of exchanging friendship bracelets at concerts, he revealed he had wanted to give Swift one with his phone number on it.

Swift later admitted she was charmed by the gesture. “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she told Time. The pair began spending time together privately before their first public sighting.

By September 2023, fans believed they were witnessing their first date when Swift appeared at a Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears. However, Swift clarified that the couple was already well past that stage. “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date,” she said.

Kelce, who has embraced the media attention with ease, reflected on the unique pressures of dating someone with Swift’s global visibility. “Obviously I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them. I’ve never dealt with it. But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it,” he told Wall Street Journal magazine.

Swift’s past relationships often unfolded under heavy scrutiny, most notably her long-term partnership with actor Joe Alwyn, which ended in early 2023. Unlike then, Swift now appears comfortable with public attention. “When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there, and we don’t care,” she explained.
