Whatever others think about Maneesh, I find him to be a good director (and screenwriter). All the five movies he directed were well made (I also enjoyed the movies he produced, btw).
Yes, until now his direction work (including as 3-times assistant director) had been produced by YRF. Initially Maneesh wanted to make Fan his directional debut (he had written the screenplay expressly for SRK) after having assisted in RNBDJ, but Adi wanted him to get directional experience before and Maneesh then came with the BBB script which he made into a very enjoyable and successful movie.
