I read in your reply to Sree about having more than 1 kid being better for the kids and parents.. I have some questions here because I guess that pertains to me a lot. LOL. I am one of those persons who has consciously decided to have one kid (who is now 6.5 years old) for many reasons - both hubby and I work full time and I know I would not be able to give my 100% if I did have a second. Also, insctinctively I have never really yearned so much for a second and my maternal desires are fulfilled by one and of course my daughter feels so close to her cousin and has never yearned for a sibling.. I would like to know what your observations are regarding the pros and cons of having more than one?

Hey Pallavi,

Having or not having a second child is a personal choice.Your reasons are so valid and make a lot of sense. We felt the same for many years, although we love kids. But raising them is another thing altogether. After 35,I was against having a baby.

The kids learn to share and co operate and parents don't have all the focus on just one child. They can get over protective/possessive which may not be healthy for the child, though it is well meant.

I can speak for myself that we had to make a conscious effort not let that happen. Now a single child home is a common thing and I'm sure parents can seek guidance....no big deal.

Thanks Akshata! That was very encouraging, indeed😃. I wanted to hear from you as your son is in his teens and you have crossed through many stages that I have not yet seen and would be able to explain better.. You are right, single child homes are common in Asia (including in India) but it is sooo uncommon in the US and I get questioned by so many here that I started to wonder if it is just me who is the odd ball or whether I am doing something wrong. LOL. I do know that I don't feel that way in India and since we are planning to return to India in a couple of years, I know she won't be the odd ball there either..

Which is your dream place for vacationing? Both in India and abroad?

I don't mind any topic.....it's just that I'm pressed for time and in a session like this I thought short answers would be appreciated as the MOW 'game' would move faster.

I shall reply to your "life after40" tomorrow😊

I have a questionnaire ready...already mentioned to Sree...shall mail it to those interested or in the forum next week. It's fun....answers could be real or just witty.

What do you guys think???

Cheers

Oh that's wonderful! You will be going back to India. I'm sure you will do all right.

Kerala Backwaters because I have been dreaming about going there,

but any place with my husband is a dream vacation.😳 I wish to revisit Marcara(Madkeri) in Coorg where we had been for our honeymoon.

Actually my husband has been telling me about taking me to St.Petersberg.He has been there several times on office work.He says it is an amazing city....very picturesque and the museums are out of this world. Till I actually go there it's a dream, right?

Hey, I know you ask the questions here but where in India would you be going back?

No problem, to me MOW thread is an interaction thread:-) We plan to be going back to someplace in the South as we are from South - to Hyderabad, Madras or B'lore.. Have not decided which as it depends on opportunities that come our way.. We might even consider Pune as that has many opportunitis these days.. How is Pune for Doctors? Would you categorize Pune more in the town or city category?

Pune is a great place for anyone. Honestly I am not selling the place here.Find out for yourself, It's a great place to live...has a good blend of city and small town. With the new expressway(freeway) for you, one reaches Mumbai in less than 3 hrs by car.

Pune has some very good hospitals with the state of the art equipment.

I have already mentioned and it's a well known fact that it is a seat of education since the British, not just in Maharashtra.

I can PM you any info you want.
