Hi Akshatha

Since you are more experienced in life (compared to me) I would like to ask this question:

Do you choose between being right and being happy. I guess u got my question. There are some times when we have to decide whether to do the right thing or do what makes us happy

What is your opinion about this?

Pallavi asked:Do you get time to read? If so,what kind of books?

Yes.I do get time to read and used to read anything from fiction to philosophy(not very high funda) to educational, but since I entered this forum,I don't seem to find the time.

In fiction I like thrillers and mystries. Read quite a few by James Patterson but started to find them too gory, although I liked the character of Alex Cross.I like biographies too.My son recommended Da Vinchi Code very highly....bought a copy but haven't read it yet.Someone borrowed it and has not returned it 😡

I like to read novels by Indian Authors too.I liked "The Suitable Boy" by Vikram Seth.
Even today I enjoy reading Archie,Tintin,Asterix.I like funny and humoros stuff too.
At this moment I have "Shantaram" by Gregory David Roberts on my hands.....a page or 2 a day 😳

How about you all? Any suggestions?
Missed you guys when you were MOWs so could not interact much.So sorry about that.

Hey Thanks Scorpio....was thinking of sending you a PM....haven't heard from you in any threads recently. Good to hear from you.

Hope u r enjoying the hot seat 😛

Yeah....everyone is so sweet,I think a little hesitant to ask naughty questions😉

Here r some questions from me:

1) Which is ur favourite fragrance?

As in fragrance in general....Lavender. In perfumes,at this moment CHANCE by Chanel and FLOWER by Kenzo.

2)Whats urs and ur hubby's zodiac sign?

I am a Capricorn and he a Pisces. The goat and the fish....My e-mail id is spicycorn86 ...I coined the word from pisces and capricorn....86 bec we married in 86😆...picycorn was too bland,so i spiced it up.😉

3)Being the mother of a teenager what are the problems and advantages u experienced?

Problems: Plenty😕 Mainly on how much independance to give and how to teach him the value of hard earned money....one learns by trial and error. Also to understand his problem of Peer pressure and help him cope with it.Oh!Thank God...it's all behind us now.

Advantages: He is like a young man in the house.... make him run to the store in an emergency😊,very good company because he has a good sense of humor.Don't have to worry about his meals when I am away.Have him on my side when hubbyand I have arguments.😉.He is smart enough to know when to stay out.

4)R u a good cook or just ordinary(I guess ur hubby can give the answer 😊 )

I do get a lot of compliments for my cooking.I don't consider it a chore...I really do enjoy cooking and trying out new recipes. My son and husband both provide incentives by eating well and are quite appreciative.

Whats ur speciality in cooking desi-foods ?

I don't know how to answer this but in HKG I think my Manglorean Sea food preparations are considered a speciality.

5) whats ur all time favourite pass time hobby?

My MSN username says it all...Chatterbox.😆

Hey Thanks for taking time out.Do be in touch even after Astitva is over.

cheers 😃

Cheers

Hi Akshata, Have you read Sidney Sheldon amongst the fictions? He wriets well - my all time favourites are Master of the Game and If tomorrow comes.. Very fast reads. Have you read Irwing Wallace's "The second lady"? One of the most gripping books I have read.. Also, Jeffrey Archer' short stories are great.

Amongst non-fiction I recently read "The world is Flat" by Tm Friedman and "Freakonomics".. You may enjoy those.. Have you read Jhumpa Lahiri's works like "The interpreter of Maladies"? Her works are mostly narratives, not stories with plots and twists..

What are your views on "love at first sight"?

I have not tried Indian authors... I will take your word and start with Vikram Seth and Jhumpa Lahiri.
Have you tried PGWoodhouse books? It has subtle humour... most people don't enjoy it as much...

I would most certainly do what is right because that is what would make me happy.I know what you mean Rajni, but honestly I have done things to make others happy even if I didn't feel they are right because I did not have the courage in the past but that has changed.

I may have upset some people initially but I know for a fact that I have earned their respect for my principles. To me that matters a lot.

My gradual lean towards spirituality has also helped me to stand by my principles and beliefs.

Oh yes. I have read all the books you mentioned and many more.Sidney Sheldon is amy all time favorite too. Archer too. I had to read "Not a penny less not a penny more twice to understand it.😳( I was in high school)

Jhumpa Lahiri's work sounds interesting.Shall try to get my hands on that one.

What are your views on "love at first sight"?

Some years ago I would have said an emphatic YES. But today I think it's Attraction at first sight.True love happens and gets stronger over the passage of time. But that whole feeling of being in love after the first meeting is heady....no doubt about that.

These are just my thoughts.
