It's not 'Salman Khan Almighty'

Sohail Khan refutes reports that the next Salman Khan starrer is lift from Bruce Almighty
Rumi Jaffrey's forthcoming film 'God Tussi Great Ho', that has Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra, has not even released and people are comparing it to the Jim Carrey and Morgan Freeman starrer 'Bruce Almighty'.

Incidentally by the plot of the film, there is an uncanny resemblance to the Hollywood film. Sohail Khan, who has acted in God Tussi Great Ho, says it is unfair for people to compare the two films even before anyone has seen it.

"It is actually not fair for people to say that our film is a remake of the Hollywood film. There may be similar characters and the plot may seem similar but that does not mean that the film is same. We have five songs in the film does the Hollywood film has this? There are other differences also which people will realise after they see our film," Sohail says confidently.

Amitabh Bachchan plays God in the film who hands over all his powers to Salman Khan. The plot is similar to Bruce Almighty in which Morgan Freeman hands over his powers to a 'loser' Jim Carrey who works in a television channel. Interestingly, God Tussi Great Ho's setting in also in a television channel.

"I play a television journalist in the film. The film is about how problems start when I get start working there," says Sohail.

Sohail and Salman was last seen sharing screen space together in Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya? in 2005. They have teamed up for this comedy after three years.
"Salman's always a pleasure to work with. The situations are so funny in the film that I hope people will like our performance," he laughs.

No longer a Partner?
Katrina Kaif will not feature in the sequel to Salman Khan's Partner

A still from Partner

Sohail Khan Productions' sequel to Partner, titled Partner 2, will not have Katrina Kaif in the lead. Does this professional decision have anything to do with Salman and Katrina's souring personal relationship?

Sohail Khan confirmed the news when he said, "The sequel to Partner will have the same leading actors - Salman and Govinda, but we are looking for different leading ladies."

David Dhawan is now working on the script of Partner 2, which will go on the floors in March, or latest April, next year.

Sohail Khan

After which Dhawan is slated to do another film for Sohail Khan Productions, Amar Akbar Anthony.

Katrina had an important role in Partner, released in 2007, where she played the unattainable beauty that Govinda lusted after.

Salman played the love guru who helped Govinda attain her.

This time, obviously, it will have to be another beauty. Is it a blow for Kat's flourishing career? Well, considering she has been heard saying that she doesn't want to do films with Salman any more, perhaps not.

Marriage proposal for Salman Khan

Every girl who comes on Dus Ka Dum has professed her undying love for Salman. Looks like a majority of the Indian women population nursed a secret desire to marry Salman Khan.

Even those who are happily married today propose to him in the hope that they still might have a chance!

Same was the case with Afsana Khan, a contestant on the show. "She begged and pleaded with Salman to marry her. He finally told the teenaged girl that he became an actor when she was not even a thought on her dad's mind," says our khabroo.

"Undeterred she begged to go for a ride on his bike. He promptly told her his father had sold off all his bikes! The girl of course showed no signs of backing off and made him promise that he would oblige her with a ride on a bike. He did oblige her: He gifted his leather jacket for her to wear when she went for a ride with somebody else," adds the source.

Another interesting incident that took place on the sets was when a question was popped that how many Indians would live to live the life of film star for a week and the audience reacted without batting an eyelid. Afsana desired to be in Kartina's shoes. Though Sallu did not answer but one saw him blush.

It's time for the industry's most eligible bachelor to tie the knot. What say?

A wish to tie a rakhi on Salman's wrist
PATNA: Thirteen-year-old conjoined twins Saba and Farah have stopped eating so that their wish to tie rakhi (a ceremonial thread) on Bollywood actor Salman Khan's wrist is fulfilled.

Salman Khan is the favourite hero of Saba and Farah, who had met him once in Mumbai three years ago on his invitation.

"We love Salman like a brother. We sleep and breathe with Salman's image in our minds. He is in our soul. We have decided to tie rakhi to Salman this year. We are without food and water," said Saba and Farah with smiles on their faces.

The poor parents of Saba and Farah are finding it difficult to fulfil their wish. But the Siamese twins, who are identical twins with bodies joined together, told them that they would not touch food until they meet Salman Khan to celebrate this year's festival of 'Raksha Bandhan'.

The festival is traditionally celebrated in the month of 'Savan' with the sister tying a rakhi on her brother's wrist to express her love for him and the brother promising to protect her for life.

?We are poor people. How can I approach Salman Khan, who is a big star, to request him to share a few moments with my daughters,? asked Shakeel Ahmad, father of Saba and Farah.

Saba and Farah are restless to meet Salman. They hardly miss 'Dus Ka Dum' which is hosted by Salman and want to participate in the programme. But they have no knowledge that it is not easy at all,? said the twin's elder brother.

"The girls are eagerly looking forward to welcome Salman Khan at their residence here. They strongly feel that Salman Khan will visit them one day,? said Rubina Khatoon, their mother.

Khatoon said that Saba and Farah are not keeping well "as they have stopped taking food and told us that they will not touch food until they meet Salman".

Saba and Farah, who are joined at the head and neck, have spent their lives side by side, but have never been able to look each other directly in the eye.

Ahmad recalled that a few years ago, there was a ray of hope for his daughters when Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, then crown prince of Abu Dhabi, decided to help the twins after seeing their photograph in an Indian newspaper. He announced he would bear the entire medical expenses of the operation to separate the conjoined twins.

But after some move at Delhi's Apollo hospital, everything was forgotten. We are left with only a promise. I fail to understand what happened to the offer for help. We are still waiting for surgery,? he said at the small roadside eatery he runs near Bakri Bazar here.

In 2005, after the Abu Dhabi crown prince offered to bear the estimated cost of $1 million for the operation, the twins were examined at Apollo Hospital. American neurosurgeon Benjamin Carson travelled to New Delhi to study them. The US-based Johns Hopkins Children Centre expert agreed to perform the risky operation assisted by Indian doctors.

Carson had said then that though the surgery was risky and there were chances of only one girl surviving, a surgery done early would have led to better results.

Although the twins have distinct brains and are neurologically and psychologically normal, only one of them has kidneys.

But the delay in surgery has affected their health condition. The two sisters are getting weaker by the day. They have been suffering from health problems - and getting weaker, said Shakeel.

In an exclusive interview an exhilarated Vipula says, "Well it was very nice experience for me to play with Salman and win one crore. He is not only a good host but also a nice man."

Elaborating on her experience she explains, "It was all like a dream come true. Initially I was not sure whether to go ahead with the one crore question or not. I just took the name of God and went ahead. And won! "

Talking about Salman Khan she says, "He is very sweet and he even asked me whether he can call me didi. I agreed with it as I have lost my younger brother nine years ago. Now I have got one in Salman. For Raksha Bandhan which is just in a couple of days I'm going to send him a rakhi."

Have you decided of what you will do with one crore? "I haven't yet decided of what I will do but will be soon visiting Shirdi to thank God with my family. Besides that I'll pay off my loans and invest some money to secure the future of my family," she concludes happily.

Why don't you get married?
Mumbai:

Shaadi aur main? Salman Khan
Here's what happened when host Salman Khan invited Singh Is Kinng stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif on his show 10 Ka Dum.

According to an insider, "The proceedings of the show went quite smoothly, given the history of cold vibes between Sallu and Akki. The combination of Katrina with her real life hero and reel life hero was quite lethal but ultimately it all went off well, minus a few hiccups."

The insider continues, "Sallu was his usual witty and sarcastic self. Akki took all the jibes in his stride and when he felt the time was right, he made a few of his own. At one point Akki asked the host, 'Why don't you want to get married to your beautiful girlfriend Kat?'

"Salman who has never admitted to his relationship with Kaif, didn't like this public outing. But Kumar didn't stop here. He went on to tell the host that he has a nice girl like Kat and he should treat her properly. Then he added the final blow by saying Kat was young and Sallu was getting old he should think hard about settling down as one shouldn't be alone at his age," said the source.

Cool Sallu

The eyewitness continues, "Sallu was clearly annoyed by Akshay's remarks but he surprisingly kept his cool. He got back by making cracks and jokes at the Khiladi's expense."
Katrina appeared shocked at Akshay's comments but didn't say much. Akshay won Rs 10 lakh and donated it to a charity of his choice.

Salman Khan cancels DKD filming; goes for SiK screening

On August 5 2008 when Akshay Kumar landed in India to promote Singh is Kinng, he and his co-star Katrina Kaif shot for Salman Khan's Dus Ka Dum. And, on August 7 2008 which was supposed to be the last day of shoot for the show Salman cancelled the shoot.

A source from production house revealed, "Salman cancelled shoot by informing us that he is not well. But then we heard that Sallu went for a special screening of Singh is Kinng and that is why he could not make it for shoot."

Adds the source, "We shot with Katrina and Akshay three days back. Akshay opened the episode as a host instead of Salman, who walked in with Katrina. Both Akshay and Salman were at their best pulling each other's legs even as Kats was quiet. She spent most of the time in Salman's special room on the set."

Continues the source, "Akshay played the game and was about win a crore but unfortunately he gave the wrong answer and managed to win only 1 lakh. But the channel decided to give him 10 lakhs. The three of them ended the episode by performing on Singh Is Kinng's title track."

Before this Salman also shot with Priyanka Chopra and Bobby Deol, who came to promote their film Chamku. Bobby played the game and won a crore. Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan, Jeetendra and Tusshar Kapoor too have shot for the show.

'Everything's okay between Salman and me'

MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has shot a special episode of Salman Khan's television game show "Dus Ka Dum", brushing aside reports of differences having cropped up between them.

Priyanka appeared on the show along with her good friend and "Chamku" co-star Bobby Deol. The actress had reportedly refused to appear on "Dus Ka Dum" along with beau Harman Baweja before the release of their film "Love Story 2050".

Priyanka said the shoot was done in the early hours of Wednesday and that she had a great time with Salman, her co-star in forthcoming film "God Tussi Great Ho".

"We shot the episode from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. I had a tough time keeping my eyes open. But Salman entertained us all through. He played a double role - He was both the host and the hero of one of the films I was promoting."

Asked about the rumoured cold war between them, Priyanka said: "When did I ever say I had any problems with Salman? We make a fantastic on-screen pair. We proved it in 'Mujhse Shaadi Karoge'. And now again in 'God Tussi Great Ho' we rock together. Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) plays god, by the way. As for Salman, he's always fun on the sets.

"He had me in splits during the shooting. He had Bobby and me entertained throughout 'Dus Ka Dum'. And yes we both won a lot of money."

While "God Tussi..." is set for an Aug 15 2008 release, "Chamku" is to hit theatres Aug 22 2008.

I cannot be friends with Shahrukh Khan: Salman Khan

Actor says there has always been animosity between the two, but this time it has gone so far that he is not interested in patching up

MUMBAI: Actor Salman Khan has had it with his on-again, off-again friendship with Shah Rukh Khan. Talking, for the first time about their public spat a few weeks ago, Salman says he can never be friends with SRK again. "I cannot really tell you what happened at the party," Khan said when DNA caught up with him on the sets of his film Veer on Saturday. "But I won't deny that there is a problem between us. There has been this kind of animosity between us for a long time. In fact, this is the third time we have fought. We have tried being friends, but it just doesn't seem possible. We are different people."

Asked if he would like to sort things out with Shah Rukh this time, Salman said: "No, why should I? Not interested. We are two different individuals. He may be a great person, but his values and scruples are not the same as mine. I can't continue being a buddy to someone I don't get along with. I am not the kind who would pretend to be great friends with someone and then back-bite about the person."

The incident took place on July 16, at a party Salman had organised for girlfriend Katrina Kaif's birthday at Olive restaurant in Bandra. Almost the entire industry was there, including Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan.

Towards the end of the party, when most guests had left, an altercation broke out between Salman and Shah Rukh, allegedly over their respective television shows, Dus ka Dum and Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass se tez Hain? SRK apparently stormed out of the party, with wife Gauri and friend Karan Johar in tow. According to sources, Aamir tried to intervene, but the two Khans were in no mood to make up.

Sources added that Salman allegedly compared his show to SRK's and said despite his (Shah Rukh's) being a superstar, Paanchvi Pass was not doing well. Apparently enraged by this, SRK passed a snide remark about Salman's love life.

On Saturday it became clear the fight was indeed over TV shows. Salman was overheard comparing his show to SRK's earlier show, and saying: "My show is not like Dus Karod (referring to SRK's Kaun Banega Crorepati?) where there may be some ghapla. People end up winning phenomenal amounts. I would be the last person to support something like this. People in my show get out after having won just about a lakh, but it's genuine...

Asked further about his misunderstanding with SRK, Salman added: "It's sad but that's how life goes. His way of thinking is totally different from mine. Doesn't look like we can be friends."

Rani-Anil in DKD finale?

Rani Mukherjee and Anil Kapoor are likely to be the special guests on the farewell episode of Salman Khan's Dus Ka Dum. Since, the shooting for the finale could not take place on August 7, it will now be taking place on August 22 and 23.

Our source informs, "Our finale was going to take place on August 7 but Salman cancelled the shooting. Tentatively, the guests for the finale are Rani Mukherjee and Anil Kapoor. For the pre-finale episode Annu Maliek and Kailash Kher will be on the show to promote the fourth season of Indian Idol."

Adds the source, "Further, for the finale, we are all planning something huge and unique. Our current location in R.K.Studios cannot encompass a huge crowd so we are going to arrange it at some other place most probably at a ground or something like that. We will have a media interaction too on the last day."

DKD is expected to be replaced by Indian Idol 4.
