Katrina upset with Salman plans to go her separate way

Rumours are rife that one of the hottest couples in Bollywood, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, is heading for splitsville. The final blow to their relationship came in the form of the spat between Salman and Shah Rukh Khan on Katrina's birthday.

After splitting from his former girlfriend Aishwarya Rai, Salman had finally cashed in all his emotions on Katrina, but he seems to have lost her too as she is quite upset with him. Industry sources said Katrina is no mood to forgive him for his behaviour with Shah Rukh on her birthday which attracted much media attention.

The sources said that after the incident Salman and Katrina are not on talking terms.

"Katrina is blaming Salman for the entire episode," said a common friend.

Katrina opined that Salman should have restrained himself as he was playing the host. "But certain things are not in anyone's control and it is destined to happen," Katrina told a leading TV channel in an interview.

A close friend of Salman said: "He is good at heart. He took initiative for the party to please Katrina. But everything went wrong."

Salman and Katrina's relationship was already going through a rough patch. Katrina's ambition is the reason for Salman's anguish. The British-born actress has long stopped taking his advice regarding her professional life, which irked the actor.

Salman, who is known for his hot temper, had objections to Katrina's choice of films, her co stars and even the outfits she wore for some films.

Salman resumes filming for Dus Ka Dum

Salman Khan will resume his shoot for Dus Ka Dum on July 31.The show had break of 20 days and now with only 10 episodes left in this season the actor will wrap the programme up in a couple of days. However the big question on everyone's minds is who will be a part of the two celebrity episodes lined up for the finale.

?It is not a continuous schedule. We will have break in between for a day or two in this schedule as it is just a 10 episode shoot .On August 7 2008, we will have finale of the show. There are 2 two special episodes we have planned,? says a source from the production house.

Initially Shah Rukh Khan's name too was being considered for special episode. But after the infamous SRK-Sallu jhagda is SRK still in the running as per the original plan?

?So far we are discussing with 6 celebs like Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Harman Bhaweja. But the final names have been not finalized as it will depend on their availabilities. There will be a bash too on the last day of shoot. Rains do not spoil our shoot; it is just a Salman who sometimes just decides to cancel the shoot on last moment!? says the source.

The show is expected wrap at the end of August and will be replaced by the fourth season of Indian Idol. Moreover the channel is already planning two more seasons for this show after receiving a good response from the audience.

Bollywood unites behind Khans

Bollywood has stood strongly behind the Khans the biggest stars of Bollywood saying they would not be divided by religion.

The terrorists behind the Bangalore and Ahmedabad blasts had sent out a threat to the Khans - SRK, Aamir, Salman and Saif - saying that as Muslims they should stop acting in films.

Director Aziz Mirza, whose Kismat Konnection was out last week, said the terrorists should be ignored. "The terrorists are stupid guys. You don't react to them. You just negate them. They can do whatever they want. Nobody listens to mad dogs."

Sanjay Khan said that there was really no issue and the matter of what Bollywood represented was settled. "I think this is a media created hype and it is completely blowing matters out of proportion," he said, "There is no threat to Bollywood so far as all of this is concerned."

Prashant Pandey, writer of Ram Gopal Varma's Contract, said "An actor has no religion. One cannot categorise an actor on that basis. His persona is different as an individual both on and off-screen."

Bollywood has always been very strong on the theme of national and religious unity in India and many of its directors have focussed on the subject, like Manmohan Desai with his Amar Akbar Anthony.

The Khans themselves have essayed uniting roles, such as SRK in Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (made by Aziz Mirza).

Filmmaker Jagmohan Mundra, who is making Shoot on Sight, a film on international terrorism, added: "India has always been a secular country and Bollywood has always advocated its secular character. A warning by a handful of people will definitely not matter to the industry."

Bollywood unites behind Muslim actors

NEW DELHI: Outright condemnation or tight-lipped silence. India's film fraternity onMonday united behind its Muslim actors -- including the four Khans Shah Rukh, Aamir, Salman and Saif -- who have been threatened by the little known Indian Mujahideen outfit that has also claimed responsibility for the Ahmedabad blasts.

The group has purportedly written an email stating that Muslim actors must stop working in films immediately or face death. The email was received Sunday, a day after 21 blasts killed 50 people and injured 200 in Gujarat's main city Ahmedabad.

Prashant Pandey, writer of Ram Gopal Varma's "Contract", an action thriller that released last week and is said to be uncannily similar to how the Ahmedabad blasts played out, said it was unfortunate if actors were being targeted in the name of religion.

"An actor has no religion. One cannot categorise an actor on that basis. His persona is different as an individual both on and off-screen," Pandey said.

Renowned director Aziz Mirza, whose "Kismat Konnection" has just been released, said terrorists must be cold shouldered.

"The terrorists are stupid guys. You don't react to them. You just negate them. They can do whatever they want. Nobody listens to mad dogs. Nobody in the industry will give a reaction."

According to Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh, people were "shocked but the producers, writers, directors or even the actors have not issued any statement on this yet".

Describing the threats as "very sad and very unfortunate", Adarsh said: "At the moment, there have been no official reports in the industry. What do actors have to do with the attacks? It is a free country and one has the right to do whatever she or he wants to."

Actor-turned-filmmaker Sanjay Khan, a Muslim by religion, refused to comment on the threats and just said: "I think this is a media created hype and it is completely blowing matters out of proportion. I don't want to contribute and give more air to this (issue). There is no threat to Bollywood so far as all of this is concerned."

Filmmaker Jagmohan Mundra, whose next release "Shoot on Sight" is a film on international terrorism, added: "Indian Muslims have not been associated with terrorist activities till date and if some of them have started taking part in such activities, then it is really sad for our country.

"India has always been a secular country and Bollywood has always advocated its secular character. A warning by a handful of people will definitely not matter to the industry."

Others refused to talk.

Actress Juhi Chawla and choreographer-director Farah Khan, both close associates of Shah Rukh, declined to comment on the threat.

Veteran actress and Saif Ali Khan's mother Sharmila Tagore did not respond on being contacted either.

Shah Rukh also did not react to any calls or messages on the issue.

Stars Ka Dum

Salman Khan is shooting for his last schedule of Dus Ka Dum but he is making sure he keeps in tact his bonding with all his star friends. Apart from Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, the five day schedule will have a number of celebrities as part of the show.

Our source from the production house informs, "On Friday Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Minissha Lamba came to promote their film Bachna Ae Haseeno. Ranbir won the first round of the show against Deepika. However, even after doing fine initially he gave the wrong answer of 1 crore question and ended up with only 1 lakh. We felt bad for him. All of them distributed audio CDs of their movie and Salman gifted Ranbir a painting of Raj Kapoor."

Adds the source, "On Saturday, Salman's brothers Arbaaz and Sohail were on the sets to promote their next, Hello. Arbaaz won first round but like Ranbir he too managed to win only 1 lakh in the end. They did not spend too much time on the sets even though their brother is the host. They danced to the title track of Hello Brother, which was their second film together."

Continues the source, "This week will be the celebrity week on DKD sets. We will have 3-4 more special episodes and the expected guest list includes Tusshar Kapoor, Jeetendra, Isha Koppikar, Katrina Kaif and Rani Mukherji. Though Akshay Kumar's name was being discussed he is not going to come on the show because of his other commitments."
The schedule ends on Thursday, August 7 2008.

Salman Khan , Farhan and Rahul rush aid

Salman Khan, Farhan Akhtar and Rahul Bose join hands to reach out to the Ahmedabad blast victims

In an exemplary show of empathy, prominent members of the Mumbai film industry have joined hands to garner support for the victims of the recent Ahmedabad bomb blasts.

"There are several prominent members in Bollywood who have joined me in my effort to collect funds for the treatment of people injured in the bomb blasts. Salman Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar and Rahul Bose are just some of the people who have already pledged their support," says social worker Teesta Setalvad.

She reveals that several other film personalities too have expressed their desire to reach out, but are yet to pitch in with the money. Unwilling to divulge any more names, Setalvad says that she along with Rahul Bose plan to deliver the money personally to the victims within two weeks.

"We have already identified people who are finding it hard to continue their treatment and we will ensure that they get well soon. Trust me, they are in real need of help and we need to act very fast," she adds.

Considering the fact that the Narendra Modi government has already announced a compensation of Rs five lakh for each of the blast victims, isn't this effort a politically sensitive one? "I know that Gujarat is a very politically-sensitive zone. Our effort is in no way to tell the government that they are not doing enough for the blast victims. At the same time, I feel there are a lot of people in Ahmedabad who still can't afford the costs of their treatment and it is our duty to get them back on their feet. I decided to lead from the front because I feel nothing is enough," says Rahul, who recently met up with the victims.

"We went around visiting hospitals where the blast victims are undergoing treatment and were shocked to see that some of them are actually starving. I told myself, 'somebody needs to flag it off (the relief operations)'. We went around collecting data about these people. They are actually daily wage earners and mostly live a hand-to-mouth existence. They are ones who we tend forget about too fast," Rahul adds.

Though the exact figure of the money donated so far is not available, the two are hoping that enough will be collected to clear the hospital bills of at least a 100 blast victims, if not more.

Shaadi ke baad

Jeetendra Salman Khan

Salman Khan had two special guests, Jeetendra and his son Tusshar Kapoor on the sets of Sony TV's Dus Ka Dum to promote their upcoming film C Kkompany.

While the three were chilling out in Salman's make-up room, Jeetu saw Sallu puffing away. Agitated, Jeetendra asked him that why he smoked so much. And urged him to quit the habit.

"Even I used to smoke 80 cigarettes a day. But I quit smoking after Ekta was born," said Jeetendra.

Jeetendra then gave him some tips to quit smoking. Salman heard him out, and then promised that he will quit smoking the day he gets married. His time, obviously, starts now.
