Danish Pandor, who plays Uzair Baloch in Dhurandhar, has responded to Hrithik Roshan’s recent review of the film, becoming the first member of the cast or crew to publicly comment. Hrithik had praised the storytelling and performances but mentioned that he did not agree with the political aspects of the movie.
In an interview with IndiaTV, Pandor addressed the remarks, stressing the research-backed nature of the film’s political elements. “This is very subjective. There are some things that you would prefer and I wouldn’t, and vice versa. As far as the political aspect goes, these are all research-backed elements. Even if you take into consideration the 26/11 attack, you can’t deny that it happened. The voice notes of the handlers and terrorists were played on screen; it literally gives you goosebumps and, at the same time, disheartens you as a person… what exactly have they done,” he said.
Discussing the 26/11 attack scene further, he added, “There were so many hostages inside, and when everything was unfolding through the media perspective, as we were watching it at that point in time, you couldn’t really realise what these people were going through. But just that voice note that has been portrayed on screen makes you empathise immediately. And what if you were there at that point in time? Empathising is very important.” Pandor also revealed that after filming the scene, he checked on lead actor Ranveer Singh, who found the sequence emotionally challenging.
Hrithik Roshan, while sharing the Dhurandhar poster on Instagram, wrote, “I love cinema, I love people who climb into a vortex and let the story take control, spin them shake them until what they want to say is purged out of them onto that screen. DHURANDHAR is an example of that. Loved the storytelling. It’s cinema. I may disagree with the politics of it, and argue about the responsibilities us filmmakers should bear as citizens of the world. Nevertheless, can't ignore how loved and learnt from this one as a student of cinema. Amazing.”
Earlier, on December 6, Pandor praised his co-star Ranveer Singh on social media, recalling the actor’s energy and commitment during filming. He highlighted the dedication Ranveer brought to every scene, inspiring Pandor and enhancing the on-screen chemistry between them.
Dhurandhar, featuring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, and Rakesh Bedi, released on December 5. The film, produced by Dhar and Lokesh Dhar under B62 Studios with Jio Studios, has already collected over ?500 crore in India and ?700 crore worldwide. It is set against major geopolitical and terror events, including the Kandahar hijack, 2001 Parliament attack, and 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
