Salman's Trainers Talk About His Fitness Routine

Salman's physical trainer, Manish Advilkar, has this to tell all his fans across the world.

He has also trained Salman through six tedious years. When he first call me in 2001, I concentrated on fine-tuning is exercise routine, making it more structured and streamlined,"Advilkare calls.

Today, of course his body speaks for his dedication. No matter how punishing his shooting schedule, salman will find time to exercise... He even calls me up at 3-4 am for a training session.

Exercise releases endorphins, those feel good hormones in the brain, andriding the wave , trainer and pupil sculpt the body that earned bollywood star the moniker, "Shirtless Wonder".

While weights have gained for Salman the contours the camera captures so vividly, his cardiovascular routine is punishing too. When the mood overtakes Salman , he goes cycling three hours to panvel," explains Advilkar." personally, I would find that a real challenge too."

?He does unbelievable stuff like 1,000 push-ups a day or 2,000 sit-ups a day? says Manish Advilkar, who is a fitness trainer and has trained Salman for over 6 years. Discipline and dedication have been the two pillars of Salman?s fitness success. ?Today, of course his body speaks for his dedication. No matter how punishing his shooting schedule, Salman will find time to exercise? adds Manish.

Salman Khan?s Fitness Trainer D?Souza uncover Salman's fitness mantra.
Body type:

?His body structure is not like a body builder's but good muscles, perfectly in shape and no fat? says his personal trainer D?Souza.

Work keeps Salman busy most of the times. Thus, at times he starts his workout as late as 2 am. ?Salman works out for at least two hours continuously. His workout includes one hour of cardio- concentrating on any two body parts each time- triceps, legs, back and biceps? says D?souza.

He is very particular and serious about his workout and once in the gym, nothing affects his concentration. While in the gym, if someone approaches him for an autograph or a photograph, he asks them to wait until he is finished with his training. He has got perfect abs and works a lot to keep them in shape. ?He does five hundred crunches, pull-ups and chin-ups? adds D?Souza.

I don't like manipulative women: Salman
Salman Khan reveals what puts him off in a woman and why he doesn't talk about his past relationships
Rumours are rife that Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are drifting apart and how the couple has got into numerous squabbles. But Salman says that he doesn't like getting into a jhagda with the woman he loves.

"I like simple, nice and straight-talking girls. Not the ones who do chik chik," says
Salman when questioned about his kind of a girl. "I don't like women who are manipulative and scheming. Whatever you have inside you, you say it straight out. I am okay with that fact, and that will never be brought up ever. But if you're lying to me then that becomes a problem with me," adds the star.

The actor who has been portrayed as 'an angry young man' in real life says it's important to have a bit of anger. "Everybody should have anger. It's important to have that fire in you. I don't mean frustration and jealousy. I mean the drive to be somebody.
You can't be cribbing saying 'I don't have any backing' or that so and so got his success through unfair means. You need to look at a hero and say, 'Aisa banna hai mujhko…aur iss se bhi aage jaana hai', " says Salman.

When asked why he doesn't prefer talking about his past relationships Salman says,
"It's my personal matter and it stays with me. Why would one want to spoil a person's name? You share moments with a person, good, bad, whatever….you cherish them. You hold them in your mind somewhere and then eventually they go away. There is no reason for animosity and vindictiveness," he says.

Though Salman's 'Bang bang' song in the forthcoming Hello is a hit, he says he finds it difficult to match steps with the hip hop generation. "This whole culture of 'hip hop, bro and yo' doesn't come easily to me. For kids who have grown up with the R&B culture it's different. We've grown up on disco dancing. So it's difficult to adopt the body language but we're trying," he ends.

Salman's look swept me off my feet: Preity
Preity Zinta just can't stop raving about co-actor Salman Khan's Sikh look in their forthcoming release Heroes.

We have worked together earlier, but I had never complimented him before. But Salman's Sikh look swept me off my feet, says Preity.

This is the first time that my male co-star's looks made me go completely in awe of him. Salman plays a Punjabi in the film and every time I saw him in his get-up, I?d go ? Wow! You look so good, Salman!? Preity adds. In the past, Salman and Preity have worked together in films like Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Jaan-E-Mann but most of them bombed at the box office.

What Salman did for Bruna

Denying an affair with the Khan, the Brazilian model admits that he was concerned about her career, writes Prithwish Ganguly

There's one more life that Salman Khan seems to have touched?that of Brazil's finest export to India model Bruna Abdullah. The model who has Bollywood dreams says that she has met the star only twice. But even in those short meetings, Salman helped the aspirant in his own way. Salman and I are not friends. But yes we met twice? once when he referred me to a modelling agency. The second time I met him, he was with Katrina (Kaif),? Bruna says adding, ?He was very concerned about my career. He is good friends with the owner of my agency who handles Katrina's work also. He put me in the right hands. I don't react at all to the rumours about us dating. I know whose arms I go to everyday.?

Incidentally, it was reported that Bruna and Salman were often seen enjoying bike rides together. Nevertheless, who is the mystery man in this 21-year-old headturner's life?
His name is Sunny (Sara, restaurateur). I have been seeing him for more than a year. I know his parents, he knows mine. I want to settle here but I'm still young. I will think about marriage later, she says.

Bruna continues, ?I am not ready for films yet though there are a lot of offers. There?s lot to learn and understand about the industry. I?m attending dance classes, doing an acting course and also learning Hindi,? she says.

Has she come across the ?casting couch? syndrome?Yes I did. I have met some weird people. They will call you for dinner but not to their office. One of them said, ?Bruna I have heard about you. Do you want to come out with me? I have a very nice offer?. Some also say, I have an item number for you. Would you like to come to my house? I would like you to hear the music ? she reveals.

Bruna landed in India two-and-a-half-years-ago. Today, she is a proud owner of a flat in Bandra. ?I love working here, I love the people. It was hard to adapt in the beginning because it was a cultural shock. I came here just to see Bombay. I ended up getting into a modelling agency and becoming a VJ and a model. I did not expect all this ? she ends.

The star who bounced back
Meet the big star who simply refused to quit and is now on top
Salman Khan

Although Salman's first commercial success was Maine Pyar Kiya, this star made his debut as a second lead in Biwi Ho To Aisi in 1988. He then went on to give four hits in a row ? Baaghi, Sanam Bewafaa, Patthar Ke Phool and Kurbaan.

Even as these tremendously successful films left a mark at the box office, he made some serious mistakes and ended up giving at least half a dozen flops between 1992 and 1993. He bounced back with Andaz Apna Apna and Hum Aapke Hain Koun, the latter becoming one of the biggest grossers in the history of Hindi cinema.

A couple of flops followed after which came Karan Arjun and then another string of debacles. It was left to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's love saga Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam to salvage Salman's flagging career. It was where he met Aishwarya Rai and also manage to deliver a fantastic performance. Ever since there has been no looking back?

Muslims should be progressive like Salman: Shiv Sena
PUNE: Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his father Salim have found favour with the Shiv Sena for their self-professed Hindu values which the saffron group feels will "help the country remain undivided".

Referring to a reported statement of script writer Salim that he was a Muslim by birth but a Hindu by 'samskara' (indoctrination), an editorial in the Sena mouthpiece 'Saamna' on Monday said it reflected progressive thinking of the father son duo and should be welcomed.

"Salman is different from the other Khans in Bollywood. He installs Ganesh idol at home and follows in the footsteps of his liberal father," it said.

'Saamna' said the Muslim clergy have issued fatwa against Salman ostracizing him for his actions but both the son and father appear to be least bothered.

"If Indian Muslims imbibe these values as demonstrated by Salman-Salim, the country will remain undivided by religion and they will lead happy lives here.

"Muslims in India need Salim Khan and not Amar Singh or Abu Azmi of Samajwadi Party who can be sent to Pakistan where Islam is in danger," the editorial said.

Light, crackers, action at the Khans' house!

The Aroras and the Khans mirror a secular spirit with their family members following different religions. However, the diversity only packs in an extra punch to the celebrations, be it Diwali or other festivals, writes Shubha Shetty-Saha

Amrita Arora and Malaika Arora Khan's father, Anil Arora, is a Punjabi while their mother, Joyce, follows Christianity. Malaika's hubby Arbaaz Khan's father Salim Khan is a Muslim while mother Salma was a Hindu before marriage. His stepmother Helen is a Christian. However, Diwali in both their homes is celebrated like in any Indian home says Arbaaz. "At home we always do the usual. Since our family comprises of followers of different religions, we celebrate all festivals. For Diwali, we burst crackers, make sweets, call friends over and do all that is a part of tradition. Right now, my biggest high is bursting crackers with my son Arhaan. He gets so excited about them!" he shares. In fact, Arhaan has been actually hounding maasi Amrita to burst crackers with him a week before the festivities actually began!

Amrita and Malaika, both having busy schedules, try to spend as much time together on Diwali as possible. Amrita says, "Since dad is a Punjabi, we have always celebrated Diwali with a lot of gusto. We have the usual special lunches and dinners and light up diyas all over the house."

This Diwali is all the more special for the family because Amrita's film Golmaal Returns and Arbaaz's Fashion is releasing on Diwali day. It would have been a triple whammy if Malaika's much-talked about film's (EMI) release was not postponed. Malaika says, "While it's not unusual for Amrita and Arbaaz to have releases, it's a rare thing for me. What's interesting is that all the three films are totally different," she ends.

Salman unplugged
Most don't bother to know the real Salman Khan and that doesn't bother the star at all.

The world may see Salman Khan as arrogant but tell him that and he says that people who do not know him, have never made an effort to do so. "Most people know of me than knowing me and so they don't bother to know me as a person. Maybe I'm at fault there. If you really want to know something about me, I will tell you honestly. But if you are going to use that answer for a headline or for breaking news then I would not," Salman says candidly.

The actor says that he is not somebody who would shy away from admitting if he has a shortcoming. Adds the star, "So, if you are concerned about something that my fans would want to know about me, a plus point or a shortcoming of me, I would openly come out and say, 'Boss I have this problem'. But perhaps, I don't let them come so close to me because I don't see any concern for me from anyone. I just see breaking news, headlines and controversies. That's why I shy away."

And guess what? Salman Khan has still not cooled off after the spat he has a couple of months ago at his girlfriend, Katrina Kaif's birthday party at a restaurant in Bandra.
Never mind how many times journos prop up the question of going for a handshake with Shah Rukh, he still prefers not to budge from his stand.

We asked him the question again. Does he want to want to make it up with SRK. The answer again was a short, "No".

The star has acted with his girl friend Katrina Kaif in Partner but it is Subhash Ghai's Yuvvraaj that will see them pair up as lead actors for the first time. "We have acted with each other before and we waited for the right film to come by where we could act opposite each other. It was great to act with her. She is a talented person and I'm looking forward to the release of the film. The story of the film is really good and I think it will do well," Salman ends.

Salman's six pack packs a punch
Salmans%20six%20pack%20packs%20a%20punchAfter Shah Rukh Khan, it is now Salman Khan who has slogged to achieve a six pack abs for one of his most ambitious films, Veer produced by Vijay Galani and Eros International. This period musical love story is directed by Anil Sharma and has music by Sajid Wajid.

Our source close to the unit says, "Salman wanted a warrior look for the film that he has been waiting to make for 15 years. When the film was finalised, he worked hard on the script. He wanted a distinct look in the film which is set in the 19th century. After much deliberation, Salman decided to have long hair and a stunning physique with it. In fact when he went to London, he followed a strict diet and exercise regime and is now ready with the six pack."

Alok Mathur, official spokesperson for Salman Khan, says, "Salman bhai had vowed that he would be back with this look and he has kept his word. He was on a strict diet and completely gave up rice. He was eating boiled chicken and proteins only. He gave up oily and fried stuff. The results are there for everyone to see."

Vijay Galani the producer of the film says, "When I had signed Salman, we had not decided on the script or the director. I just signed him since I wanted to work with him and he gave me the idea of making this film. I knew that the film had a huge canvas that needed a lot of pre-production work. Then
Anil Sharma came on board and we did research and decided on our shooting locations.

The film is set between 1860 and 1900 and we travelled all over the country to look for a story. We then decided to make a film on the Pindari tribe from Rajasthan which did not give in to the British rule. Salman plays a member of that tribe. After much discussion we decided on this look with long hair. Salman has worked very hard on his body and his look. We are all set to shoot the film now."

The film will be completed by April or May next year and will be shot in various parts of India with a major schedule in London.

Salman Khan liked my Ghajini look: Aamir Khan
By SM, 28 October 2008, Filmicafe.com
Aamir Khan launched his much awaited film, Ghajini?s first teaser promo amidst a media gathering at a suburban Mumbai multiplex. We caught up with the actor -director at the even.

The film releasing worldwide on December 25th was earlier scheduled for a Diwali release. ?It was only because of my leg injury that the makers had to postpone it to the year.? Aamir told us.

Aamir had not seen the promo on the
big screen but had seen it many times over on the computer at the editing studio. Aamir unable to hide his excitement said, ?I am dying to watch the teaser on the big screen. I want to get the same exact feel that my fans shall when they see it for the first time.?

After watching it first time with the media, an excited Aamir requested the promo to be shown one more time. He then even further requested to play the digital print promo in the analog format. Why was that?

That?s because Analog format is the one that is generally used in majority of
cinema halls across the nation.

How did you manage to get such an awesome physique in such a less time for this role?

It wasn't an easy task. I dedicated three hours daily for it with considerable amount of time spent on doing ab crunches. I realized sometimes our body doesn?t want to do the workouts but it is our mind that should be stronger to take us to the workouts. But my day was made when
Salman Khan complimented me on my physique after taking a look at my Ghajini's first look poster. He liked my look.

Why such a violent film? Don't you think your fans comprising mainly of females would find it appalling?

No I don't think so. There is violence but it is a shot in a totally different manner. One of my main reasons for doing this film is that I was getting to act in a hardcore action
thriller probably for the first time in my career.

The teaser was very slickly shot but was very short Aamir.

Yes perhaps that is why it is called teaser! (Laughs)

Why hasn't A.R. Murugadoss been present at this event considering it is his debut film as a director?

He wanted to be here but he is held up in Chennai busy working on the post production and the background score of the film alongside.

Is Ghajini purposely being released on 25th December to coincide with Taare Zameen Par?s release date last year?

(Laughs) No nothing like that its just co-incidental. But I hope Ghajini is as bigger a success like TZP.

Aamir left the event leaving everyone wanting for more just like Ghajini's first promo which is simply mind blowing and leaves you asking for more.
