SRK showers flower over Sallu

Shahrukh Khan at his 43rd Birthday bash with mediaThe tussle between Salman and Shahrukh has divided the Bollywood in two camps. News of enmity poured from every side after Salman humiliated Shahrukh at Katrina's birthday bash. While at various occasions, both the guys were asked to speak up about the spat, they partially divulged the issue of the brawl. Recently, speaking to a newspaper, Shahrukh exclaimed about Salman, "He's a wonderful guy, his family is wonderful, I really like them. I respect everyone."

Salman insulted King Khan but Shahrukh spoke only goody things about him and showed that he is above all hatred and animosity. "Perhaps the only good thing which came out of the tiff is that we both have realized that we're two different people. And I think we both respect that. He's wonderful in his place and I'm wonderful in mine" he added.

Though Sallu said that he would never forgive Shahrukh and they would never be friends again, SRK never countered him back and just remarked his comment as immature.

Pricey New Year ?
Mumbai Mirror told you yesterday about the exorbitant amount many
Bollywood actresses are demanding to shake a leg at hotels and clubs on New Year's Eve. So while the babes make fast money, did you think our dudes would be left behind? In fact, we can even credit them with acting pricey. Salman Khan was offered Rs 2 crore by Sahara Star to perform at their New Year event. But our dear Sallu did not find the offer lucrative enough and has turned it down. Salman quoted a fee of Rs 3 crore, which the hotel could not afford.

Telling us about the talks that took place between Salman and the hotel, our source reveals, "The hotel didn't want only Salman to perform. They wanted him to get along his brothers Sohail and Arbaaz too. They were even wondering if his sister-in-law Malaika Arora and her sister, Amrita Arora could join him."

It seems Salman found the demand too much and did not quite appreciate their bargaining.

Salman's official spokesperson, Alok Mathur says, "We were in talks with Sahara Star. But the deal didn't work out as the hotel started negotiating with us."

I have stopped doing films just for friends: Salman Khan

NEW DELHI: After the disaster of "Hello", in which he had a brief appearance, actor Salman Khan has made known his unhappiness about doing small roles in films and vowed not to take such offers anymore even if the proposals came from friends.

Salman feels doing brief roles disappoints his fans as many such movies do not have good scripts.

"There was a time when I used to sign films just for friendship but not anymore because my fans have suffered due to it. They go to cinema hall expecting to see me but they come disappointed," said Salman, who was here to promote his upcoming film "Yuvvraaj".

Salman has been known for doing small cameo roles in many films at the request of friends. He had made an brief appearance in now estranged friend Shah Rukh Khan's "Om Shanti Om".

"In a three-hour-long film I come only in few scenes but the whole movie is promoted on my name. Naturally when my fans come to watch the film they feel disappointed. They pay for a film with their hard earned money. It is unfair on them," he said.

Salman, who is playing the lead in Subhash Ghai's multi-starrer "Yuvvraaj" releasing on November 21, said, "Now I sign a film only after I like the script and the person I am going to work with."

Talking about his character in the film, the actor said, "I play a frustrated, angry and jealous man in the film. My character is basically angry with everyone because he has always been deprived of love."

"I don't think there is any scene anywhere in the world which would be difficult to enact for us Indian actors," Salman said, adding, "We are on our toes all the time."

He also praised Ghai's efforts in making "Yuvvraaj" which has "lavish sets and a grand story".

The actor, however, dodged a question on marriage in his trademark style.

"I do not know. It is up to Him. Marriages are made in heaven. I will get married when God orders me," said Salman.

Taking an apparent dig at Himesh Reshmiya's "Karzzz", which is a remake of Ghai's 1980 classic "Karz", the actor said, "There is only one 'Karz' and that was made by Subhash Ghai."

Asked whether the new version is a tribute to Ghai's style of film making, Salman said, "Well they tried that but it did not work."

Talking about Anil Kapoor's new found international success with "Slumdog Millionaire", Salman said, "Anil is all set to leave us for Hollywood where he will do films similar to what Om Puri does."

He praised the performance of Zayed Khan, who is playing the younger brother in this family drama.

"Zayed and I have traded few punches in the film. He is great in the film," said Salman.

Karan is okay to work with Salman Khan
Salman Khan

Karan Johar doesn't rule out a possibility of working with Salman. "If there is an opportunity, a film and a screenplay that needs his presence, I think I would," he said. At the same time Karan says SRK's wife Gauri was his soulmate. "SRK is not my friend. He is my older brother. I place him in my father's position in my life. If I am in a professional mess, I will make the first call to him. And If I am in an emotional mess, Gauri will be the first to know." he adds. He says that stories about his promixity to Shah Rukh have never made his relationship awkward with Gauri. "We laugh about this all the time. Initially, the talks did anger me. But then I became indifferent and now it amuses me. It's ridiculous," he adds.

Maneka Gandhi: Salman Khan is insanely violent and should be in jail

Maneka Gandhi believes Salman Khan is "insanely violent" and should be in jail having killed animals, run over poor people and tried breaking Aishwarya's arm.

November 24, 2008, (Sawf News) - Maneka Gandhi believes Salman Khan is "insanely violent" and should be in jail having killed animals, run over poor people and tried breaking Aishwarya's arm. In an interview with the Indian Express, the former union minister who is a rabid environmentalist and animal rights advocate, said it the way she saw it, commenting on the decision of Rajasthan court to grant Bollywood actor Salman Khan bail in early September, after a week in custody. Gandhi says Salman should not have got bail because it was his second conviction. Many poor people accused of poaching are languishing in jail as under trials. "Under the law if you get more than two years, you can't get a bail. Not only that, this man, Salman is facing four more similar cases of poaching. Why there is a different law for rich and poor people," asks Gandhi. Asked if she believed Salman's celebrity status earned him a reprieve, Gandhi said: "Of course, it is a travesty of justice. It is for everyone to see. Look what happened in the first judgment, he was awarded a sentence of one year (by a lower court), where the minimum stipulated punishment is of five years. It looks as if his celebrity status is helping him out. And, Salman Khan has not just killed the animals but has run his car over poor people too. He also tried to break Aishwarya's arm while she was shooting on the sets. He is insanely violent.

I can't understand how many times will this man (Salman) have to be convicted before he is put behind the bars. It is surprising to see a twice time convict coming out on bail."

Salman-SRK clash averted

Shah Rukh Khan (Left) and Salman Khan (Right)

Bollywood was abuzz with reports that films of the actors would release on the same date in Feb; analysts confirm that the clash will not happen.

It seems it was the clash that a lot of people in Bollywood had been looking forward to, but now it won't happen. The film fraternity was abuzz with rumours that Shah Rukh Khan's Billoo Barber and Salman Khan's Main Aur Mrs Khanna would release together thereby clashing at the box office in the Valentines week. But we spoke to industry bigwigs and analysts only to find out that the big clash (we would love to see though) is not happening.

Informs Amod Mehra: "Shooting of both the films are still underway and so it's improbable that they will release on the same day. There is still a lot of shooting left for Main Aur Mrs Khanna. So it would release sometime much later than February. So, the clash between the two Khans is not happening."

Another trade analyst Taran Adarsh adds: "I know about this speculation in the industry but I don't think they are releasing together as enough shooting is pending."

Our industry insider threw some more light on the issue.

"At one point it was really looking probable that SRK and Salman's films would open in the Valentines week but now it seems Billoo Barber will release much before Main Aur Mrs Khanna as Salman's film has considerable shooting left and then post production will follow. It would have been a great clash because most probably no one would have pushed back their release dates for sure given their current stand-off," says the source.

While Priyadarshan directed Billoo Barber that stars Irfan Khan and Lara Dutta in the lead, will see King Khan do an extended cameo, Main Aur Mrs Khanna (reportedly the name of the film has changed to Mr and Mrs Khanna) will see Salman play the lead role. The film also has Kareena Kapoor and Sohail Khan in it.

Salman turns choreographer

Recently, Miss Universe UK 2008 Lisa Lazarus got a taste of Salman Khan's chivalrous nature. He personally taught her a few dance steps which were too complicated for her
Salman Khan is quite a ladies' man. Ask Miss Universe UK 2008 Lisa Lazarus who was shooting with Salman on the sets of Veer.

Not only did the actor go out of his way to make Lisa comfortable on the sets of the film but also showed her a few dance steps when she couldn't get it right. The incident in question happened at Film City, Goregaon this Sunday.

Our source said, "Lisa Lazarus could not get the dance steps right for a song which she was shooting with Salman. During one of her attempts, she fell flat on her face.

Before she could get up, Salman rushed by her side and gave her a helping hand."

Although she tried hard, Lisa just could not get the steps right. That's when Salman decided to take control of the situation by helping her out.

He taught her how to make the right moves by performing all her steps himself. Slowly he made her master all the steps.

"Lisa was shooting for a number which required her to perform a few typical Bollywood dance steps. Since Lisa is not used to dancing to Hindi numbers, she was struggling quite a bit to follow the instructions.

However, all's well that ends well. Salman really helped Lisa that day," said the source.

When contacted, producer of Veer, Vijay Galani, confirmed this and said, "Lisa stumbled after which Salman helped her out."

We are sure that Lisa loved all the attention.

Friendship reborn

Salman Khan has buried the hatchet with Sanjay Dutt. Salman will now work in Sanjay's home production
The latest long-lost buddy that Salman has kissed and made up with is Sanjay Dutt. The patch up happened on Thursday, on the sets of Anil Sharma's Veer at Film City.

The initiative was taken by Salman Khan, a few days ago, when he heard that Dutt was shooting at an adjoining set.

A source close to the production house said, "It is true that Salman came all the way to Sanju's sets. But when he realised that Dutt was shooting for Bunty Walia, he quickly beat a retreat.

It is a well-known fact that Walia was a part of Salman's group until things soured between them. So he regretfully turned back without meeting Dutt.

When Dutt heard about this, he took charge of the situation. On Thursday afternoon, he walked up to Salman's sets. The bitterness melted away the minute they hugged.

They spent the next 45 minutes chatting with each other like long-lost friends. They have now promised to meet up regularly."

At the end of the reunion, Dutt and Khan have decided to do a film together. The film will be produced by Sanjay.

So what had gone wrong between Salman and his erstwhile mentor and role model? The two were thick as thieves until the world tour where Salman apparently cut his hand to impress Dutt… a macho gesture that didn't go down well with Dutt.

Salman also bonds with Akshay Kumar
The crew on the sets of Akshay Kumar's film De Dhana Dan at Filmcity were quite surprised to see Salman Khan come by at lunchtime on Wednesday specially on a day when Katrina Kaif was not on the sets.

Story goes that when Akshay learnt about Sallu's presence in Filmcity to shoot Veer, he promptly invited him over for lunch. Salman immediately came over and the two spent quite some time swapping stories.

An eye witness reveals, "Everyone was surprised to see Salman on the sets, asking for Akshay. They had lunch together and Salman even commented on Akki having boiled food.

They spoke of doing a film together. Another hot topic of their discussion was the recession. Salman had stories of Veer to share, as he has penned the script.

Akshay in turn, showed Sallu the promos of Chandni Chowk to China on his laptop. Salman stayed back for nearly two hours."

Can one survive a BO clash with Sallu?

Salman Khan is one of Bollywood's biggest superstars. Never one to be given tags or following any rules, Khan has had a great run at the box office on the whole since his Maine Pyar Kiya days. But what has happened when audiences has had to pick between the bad boy of Bollywood and the rest of the stars.

Did they choose Sallu or did they go for Emraan, Akshay and John who clashed with Salman at the box office?

2003: Tere Naam and Emraan Hashmi's Foothpath released on the same date. Since it released soon after the infamous split of Ash and Salman, the film brought in the viewers and earned mega buck at the BO.
2004: Dhoom released with Phir Milenge. Since Phir Milenge was more social in its story line, the film won critical acclaim but the masses revved their engines towards Dhoom.

2005: Salman's No Entry was in competition with Shreyas Talpade and Nasseruddin Shah's Iqbal. No Entry was a hit at the box-office. Also in 2005, Akshay Kumar clashed with Salman Khan as Garam Masala released with Kyun Ki but this time Salman was on the losing side.

2006: It was Salman Khan vs Sanjay Dutt as Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar and My Name is Anthony Gonsalves release together. But this time both films crashed and burned. Also in 2006, Salman's Jaan – E - Mann sunk hook, line and sinker when it tried to compete with SRK's Don.

2007: Partner was a solo release and won over audiences instantly. But Khan's other release of the year, Saawariya, clashed with King Khan's Om Shanti Om. And once again it was SRK who laughed all the way to the bank!

2008: Salman Khan has had a very disappointing 2008. He started the year with God Tussi Great Ho which lost out to Ranbir Kapoor's Bachna Ae Haseeno. Khan's Diwali release, Heroes, also didn't bring in audiences as they normally do and his most recent release, Yuvvraaj, was a total BO disaster!
