Varun Dhawan wraps Scotland shoot for Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, shares BTS moments with cast

Varun Dhawan has officially completed the Scotland schedule of his upcoming film Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Directed by his father, David Dhawan, the film also stars Pooja Hegde, Mouni Roy, Mrunal Thakur, and Maniesh Paul. The actor shared a set of photos on Instagram from the wrap-up celebration, featuring his co-stars and the film’s crew.

One of the pictures shows Varun posing with a Bollywood-themed cocktail menu at a Scottish restaurant. He’s also seen posing with producer Ramesh Taurani, along with solo and BTS images from the set. The post concludes with a heartfelt photo of him and his mother, Karuna Dhawan. In his caption, Varun wrote, “It’s a schedule wrap for us here in Scotland on #haijawaanitohishqhonahai. So many days everyone pulling together to make this happen. Bringing u all the laughs soon. Now back home (sic).”

The shoot in Scotland lasted nearly a month. According to a source cited by Pinkvilla, the team filmed a variety of sequences, including comic scenes, chase sequences, and two upbeat song numbers. “It’s a big 30-day stretch packed with comic sequences, chase scenes, and two vibrant song shoots,” the source said. “A lot of combination scenes featuring the ensemble will be filmed in Scotland, leading to the signature madness and confusion that David Dhawan’s comedies are known for."

During the overseas shoot, Varun, Mouni, and others regularly posted behind-the-scenes content on social media, giving fans a glimpse into their shoot days. These photos and videos highlighted the camaraderie among the cast and crew.

In the comments section of Varun’s post, Arjun Kapoor praised producer Ramesh Taurani, saying, “Ramesh ji !!! The hypebeast.” Janhvi Kapoor also dropped a cheeky message referring to their upcoming film together, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari: “Sunny Sanskari is needed back in the bay asap pls."

Produced under the Tips Films banner, Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai stars a wide ensemble cast including Jimmy Shergill, Chunky Panday, Rakesh Bedi, and Ali Asgar. The film is slated for release on April 10, 2026.
