Tanushree Dutta is once again in the headlines, this time for defending her food choices during the holy month of Shravan. The actress, who recently shared a video discussing her post-fast meal that included mutton, faced online backlash from netizens who questioned her commitment to the fasting tradition.

In the video, Tanushree explained that she followed a Shravan fast and broke it at 7 pm with a meal of rice, kaali dal, and mutton — a combination she said works best for her health and aligns with both her cultural background and Ayurvedic nutrition.

Her caption read: “So I fasted today for Shravan till 7 pm and then cooked this high nutrition kaali dal with mutton and rice for dinner. Religious fasts don’t need to be rigid, one can customise according to individual physical needs. This kind of fast works best for me. Fasting bhi ho jaati hai, fasting se mental strength bhi build hota hai, phir fast break mein high protein and nutritious diet bhi le leti hoon Taki body bhi top performing rahe."

In the clip, she mentioned how diet plays a big role in her overall well-being. “Food works as a form of medicine," she said, adding that her meals are carefully planned to help her stay mentally and physically strong.

One user commented sarcastically, “Shravan… fast… mutton… fat… #respect," adding a laughing emoji. Tanushree didn’t hold back in her response. “In Bengal this is how all fasts are done. We fast only on water till evening then after sunset we eat bhog given to Devi which is goat meat. Different cultures are different, shouldn’t be any judgement. See the whole video then jump to comment. Aa gaye religious ppl with their nasty judgemental attitude."

Things escalated further when another user accused her of hiding behind religion while harming animals, and the actress clapped back sharply. It sounds like things got pretty heated. “What the hell nonsense are you talking about? Ur insulting Devi I think. You Don make any logical sense. Tantrik mantrik?? Video ko dekho phir comment karo?? I think ur mentally unstable. This diet is followed heavily in Nepal, where Pashupatinath is worshipped in every household. Sanatan dharm pe toh mujhse tark vitark mein koi nahi jeet sakta. Ok, my knowledge and experience is not only comprehensive, inclusive of cultures from all over India but also is factual. Bas kuch bhi like dete hai log half baked knowledge ke saath."

This social media moment follows closely after Tanushree's emotional video alleging harassment at her Mumbai home, adding to her already overwhelming situation.

The video showed a visibly distressed Dutta contemplating legal action against her family members.

“I am being harassed in my own home. Mujhe mere hi ghar mein pareshaan kiya jaa raha hai. I just called the cops. They came and asked me to come to the police station to lodge a proper complaint. I will probably go tomorrow or the day after. I am not well. Mujhe itna pareshaan kiya gaya hai pichle 4 to 5 saalon mein," she said.

The actress further added, “Meri tabiyat kharab ho gayi hai. Main kuch kaam nahi kar paa rahi hoon. Mera pura ghar messy ho chuka hai. I cannot even hire maids because they planted maids in my house. I had such a bad experience with maids. They came and stealing stuff from my house. I have to do all my work. I am being troubled in my own house. Please someone help me."
