Mouni Roy wraps ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ shoot, reflects on journey with co-stars

Mouni Roy has completed her shoot for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The actor took to social media to share her experience of working on the David Dhawan film, calling it a dream fulfilled. The film also stars Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, and Mrunal Thakur in pivotal roles.

Sharing behind-the-scenes photos, Mouni wrote, “If anyone of you understand magic & the theory of a dream come true this is it. Working with David sir was a life long dream.” She referred to Dhawan’s films as her personal version of Friends, and credited both David and Rohit Dhawan as the “pillars” of the project.

In her detailed post, she thanked her co-actors and team. Addressing Varun Dhawan directly, she wrote, “Varunaaaaa @varundvn you are the most earnest, hard working, loving, handsome superstar I have worked with. Unlucky for you, the person you are overshadows the actor/ dancer you are, and to me it’s a good thing.”

Pooja Hegde, who also features in the film, received special mention for her support. “@hegdepooja you are beautiful inside out and I shall never forget the support you gave me yesterday for a scene I wasn’t prepared for.”

Roy also praised director Farhad Samji, saying, “Thank you for being the kindest and helping me out the most in this film.”

She didn’t hold back while appreciating Mrunal Thakur either. “@mrunalthakur uffffff. You are so f****** brilliant I’m at loss of words... Keep working hard and the sky is the limit.”

About veteran actor Jimmy Shergill, she wrote, “Have loved @jimmysheirgill sir forever... He has set the tone of every scene he has done in the film. And truly, is the only Gangster!!!!!”

Varun Dhawan responded in the comments, “Mouni, so happy to share screen space with u... to many more.”

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by David Dhawan and produced by Ramesh Taurani under the TIPS banner, is currently being filmed in Scotland. It is slated for a theatrical release in October 2025. The film features a large ensemble cast including Maniesh Paul, Chunkey Panday, Rajeev Khandelwal and Kubbra Sait.
