Bhediya Vs vampire in Thama? Varun Dhawan reportedly shoots for six days with Ayushmann Khurrana

Thama starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna is a movie with immense buzz around it. Maddock’s horror-comedy universe is one of the big franchises of Bollywood. In 2024, Stree 2 surprised everyone with a box office collection of close to Rs 600 crores. Thama is going to be directed by Aditya Sarpotdar of Munjya fame. We will see a cameo from Varun Dhawan who will reprise his role from Bhediya in the movie. It seems his screen time in Bhediya is a lot more than what it was in Stree 2.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Even in Stree 2, he was a highlight and here, the makers have ensured that the impact of his performance is many notches higher. He shot for as many as 6 days, which clearly indicates how crucial he is to the narrative.” The movie has the trope of a vampire versus the werewolf. We have seen the success of Hollywood’s Twilight series even in India. The producers want to cash in on this factor. It seems Aditya Sarpotdar has shot their sequence on a huge canvas. The source added, “The action sequence between the two is expected to be a visual spectacle in terms of VFX and scale. The scene was shot in March-April this year.”

Bhediya that released in November 2022 clashed with Drishyam 2 at the box office. It made around Rs 80 crore made on a budget of Rs 60 crore. However, it was a huge success on TV and OTT. The character got immense love from people. Thama will also give a hint about Bhediya 2 that is expected to release on August 14, 2026. However, there are chances of it being pushed further. Thama is going to be Ayushmann Khurrana's big release after two years.
