Cinematographer Pratik Shah, known for his work on films like Homebound, Jubilee and CTRL, has become the focus of serious allegations following filmmaker Abhinav Singh’s public accusations. Singh described Shah as "emotionally abusive" and "highly manipulative," attributing these claims to multiple women who allegedly had troubling experiences with him.
Following the controversy, Dharma Productions, producers of Homebound, issued an official statement. The production company clarified that Shah’s role in the project was limited to a freelance capacity for a brief period. They stated that during his involvement, no formal complaints were filed with their Internal Committee under the POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) guidelines.
The statement reiterated the studio's zero tolerance approach toward misconduct of any kind and emphasized that the committee had not received any grievances from the cast or crew during the time Shah was engaged with the film.
Meanwhile, Shah has not publicly responded to the allegations but has deleted his Instagram account shortly after the accusations surfaced online.
Abhinav Singh, who has directed short films such as Sita and Yatri Kripya Dhyan De, shared the accounts of several women who claimed Shah exhibited disturbing behavior. These statements were later corroborated by reporting from The Hollywood Reporter India.
Further revelations indicate that this is not the first time Shah's conduct has been questioned. Sources linked to the Indian Women Cinematographers’ Collective (IWCC) confirmed that concerns had been raised about him several years ago. One account involved a young woman who approached Shah on Instagram for professional advice, only for the conversation to allegedly veer into inappropriate territory when he reportedly asked for a nude image.
Reports suggest that this incident prompted multiple inquiries within the IWCC community, indicating that more than one individual had encountered similar discomfort.
As the situation continues to develop, the focus now shifts to whether formal investigations will be initiated by relevant industry bodies. The larger conversation around professional conduct and accountability in the film sector remains ongoing.
