Janhvi Kapoor officially made her debut at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, walking the red carpet for the premiere of Homebound. The film, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, stars Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi herself. The screening took place under the Un Certain Regard section at the 78th edition of the festival — the same category that brought Ghaywan recognition with Masaan a decade ago.
The red carpet event was also attended by Dharma Productions’ Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, who produced the film. Ghaywan walked alongside his lead cast as the film received its world premiere on May 21.
For the premiere, Janhvi opted for a mint-green, backless gown designed in sheer, flowing fabric. The golden embroidery on the bodice added a regal edge, while the soft silhouette brought movement and ease. The standout feature of her look was the jewellery — a thoughtful combination of antique Indian heirlooms and custom jade and jadau pieces, blending heritage with haute couture.

Many social media users pointed out the nostalgic resemblance to her late mother, actress Sridevi. A widely circulated video from the premiere also shows Janhvi being warmly welcomed, with cheers from the audience as she walked into the venue.
Earlier in the week, Janhvi teased her Cannes wardrobe with an outfit by Tarun Tahiliani — a sculpted corset paired with a handwoven real tissue skirt. That look too drew comparisons with classic Bollywood elegance, resonating with followers across platforms.
Meanwhile, Homebound marks Neeraj Ghaywan’s return to the Cannes spotlight. After Masaan opened international doors for him, this new feature is seen as a significant milestone. With Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa also part of the ensemble, the film adds another title under the growing list of Indian stories featured at global platforms.
Cannes 2025, through Homebound, offered a moment where fashion, film, and cultural pride came together — quietly but memorably.
