Confession: Dark fascinates me. and my idea of dark is little twisted. it is not.. angsty, hormonal heroes with sob stories and issues taking there frustrations of innocent girls, pinning them on walls and that being passed as romance. nopes.. i like my dark characters to be unapologetically bad ass. no excuses, justifications, reasons given. no effs given or taken.
no damn given at all.
take it or leave it.
for me giving reasons or excuses for being who they are take away their aura of darkness. (i bet i made no sense).
every dark character has some sad story, heart rendering past, reason to be who they are. but taking that past in their strides and wearing their attitude on sleeves is what separates ordinary grey shaded ones from stunningly dark shaded ones.
but there is being dark and then there is being a horrid human being.
unfortunately Suraj as a character fell into latter category lot many times. So why am i so fascinated with this character?
because of the actor who went beyond the script, risen over it and added whole new dimensions, nuances and layers to the character. his genuinely good looks are merely icecream, chocolate sauce and roasted nuts topping on the sizzling brownie. but what really scores here is his raw and sheer acting prowess. take him out of the equation and Suraj won't be even 2 percent of what he is.
i just chanced upon him and the girl; chakor one fine day... and fell in love. there is just something about them together that .. connects.
and then went back and tried to be a part of their journey from beginning. but must say it is indeed a very difficult ship to sail.
he stands for lot many things i hold abhorrent.
him and her together feels wrong on so many levels of ethics and morality.
yet... together they just make... sense. beauty. togetherness.
she is not perfect.
he is antithesis of perfection.. but throw them together and they are just.. imperfectly perfect.
like those jumbled pieces of puzzle who on their own makes no sense. but fit them together and you get a kaleidoscopic beautiful picture.
more than what he was, what he is.. what i find fascinating is .. what he could be!
i hate the concept of good girl taking a brush and white paint on a bad boy and making honest good citizen out of him.
that's why i am rooting for Suraj. because he has changed and is changing. NOT for xyz or Chakor but simply he feels like being who he is. (well he still knocks down a peg (make that two pegs) of daaru and can even spike her drink for her own good. so yeah).
he needs to haul himself through coals for all his kaands and the hurt he piled on the girl.. but i would hate it if he goes for an entire personality change.
i love her the way she is. difficult, impossible and beautiful and all.
i am so looking forward for their journey.
their story.
their ever after... that of two flawed beings coming together and making that one imperfectly flawed and impossibly beautiful love story.
