I have a request to you , can you write something on the settings just like " Wuthering Heights " was written. I love Bronte sister's works. I know that Sanskar is Heathcliff, in his own way. Best wishes 👍🏼.

Hi Aparna! Thank you for reading and leaving me such nice feedback. I am glad you enjoy my writings, that is such a compliment. Oh wow- I am a huge Bronte sisters fan too:). I studied Jane Eyre as well as Villette by CB as part of my literature studies and as for Wuthering Heights, I have always been morbidly fascinated with it. There is something so dark and horrible about Heathcliffe- I have never liked Heathcliffe as how can you "like" someone who never had anything good in him save that he lost- his love for an equally selfish wilful creature, but am still utterly fascinated with him. I have always seen Sanskaar as more Darcy (obsessive P&P fan) and some of us had huge debates on this but there are certain elements of Heathcliffe to him, only not in the overtly destructive way of Heahtcliffe. The mystery and sheer ability to wipe himself out is there and perhaps in this story you will get closest to that side of Heathcliffe I think Sanskaar resembles! If I get a chance in the future, will certainly think of a moor type setting! Here too, it will be similar as you will see in later chapters but set in the desert not the moors:)! Thanks so much for this exchange!

Best wishes,
S

In everyone century Sujju has to be 🤢 As crass as ever. So she is more of a mother here to Laksh thenWonder what nonsense this ma beta jodi will get into in the future🥱

I liked that you kept that scene from the show where SwaSan feel each other's presence😳 Wonder what news Sanskaar is waiting for

Shruti 🤗

Thanks for a super quick read and comment mmwah. 😆😆 I so see Swara jumping around, happy and chirpy and irritating Sanskaar 😆. Yes! Sujata has to be annoying I thought, even in olden times. I think the show has spoilt her for me 😆. Yes, its something we often comment on right? Lakshya seems more Sujata's son as Sanskaar does Annapurna's so wanted to tackle that.

Glad you liked the SwaSan connection scene, yes I took the one from the show and modified it to make it more extreme and intense I guess. It will soon be revealed what plans Sanskaar is trying to execute.

Lots of love xoxo

RES.

EDITED.

Finally read the latest update! I was so eager to read it since yesterday and the wait was unnerving but SO worth it!
Wow Shru this chapter! 👏👏 I have no words at all, everything is so perfect. And your imagery girl, its fabulous.👏 And so we have the entry of the Gadodias. First of, I love AP's character, she seems very perceptive. She's truly Sanskaar's soul mother. And her presence is so strong that she just owns the scene if she's in it. She's a pleasure to read.👏 And Ugh Sujata is the same. 🥱😆 Now coming to the Gadodias, cant say much about Shekhar but yes I loved how you brought out the characters of his wives and the difference between Shomi and Jhanki. 👏 And I liked Ragini's description too, it perfectly fit the setting. So Ragini already has some resentment towards Swara? Hmm..She showed signs of irritation..could it be that she already dislikes her sister? Does it have something to do with their mothers? God I'm so intrigued :OO
And Swara! Haha I loved how you described her, it's just SO Swara 😆. Complete contrast to Sanskaar, isn't she? 😉 At least for now she is. And you've shown that in the scene too. Loved how you showed her exuberance. 👏👏 And also, was my guess right then? Sanskaar isn't insane, that was all an act? :O I loved his parts, they were short but it was so good to read and know more about this Knight of ours. 😳
And now for my favorite part, SwaSan's cosmic connection. Wow I just loved this scene, we're in for a great ride. Keep giving us more scenes like this Shru. ❤️
Now I could see this whole scene play out before my eyes and I LOVED what I saw. For some reason I kept seeing Jodhaa Bai's Amer fort palace from the movie Jodhaa Akbar when I read this scene, maybe because of the Rajputi connection? They way you've described it is just as surreal and regal. ⭐️

As I've already told you 😆, I LOVE anything related to history and all this just exudes a different aura which is so strong and enchanted and I''m so thrilled by this FF I just can't stop gushing over this amazing backdrop you've chosen and the amazing description, you've seriously bewitched me with all this. 😲❤️
Eagerly waiting for the next update! Can't get enough of this gorgeous piece! 🤗

Lots of love,
Yukthi.

PS -
Okay I couldn't help myself from adding these 😆 This is what I was talking about.

Hey Shru dear...🤗 🤗

First off, loads of jhappis for that special mention in the intro. I was really very touched. I am always eager to lap up anything you write, and if that encouraged you to pen this piece in this different genre, then I'm so very glad you felt I had motivated you. 😊

I don't know if I have mentioned this before (I guess we did discuss this over scraps, when you were writing the despatches series), I am a HUGE fan of historical fiction and movies.

I have gorged on Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe, Quentin Durward; as well as Sir Howard Pyle's Men of Iron. In the Indian setting, I LOVE reading up on Indian History. My favorite non fiction (but narrated stupendously, bringing out all the derring do and chivalry; as well as the sordid plots and intrigue of the era): Is Abraham Eraly's Tha last Spring: The Lives and Times of the Great Mughals.

I also loved The Mountain of Light by Iradj Amini---detailing the tumultuous history of the emperors and dynasties who possessed the Koh I Noor diamond. A factual and lovely read.

Apart from these non fiction works, I guess there isn't too much really frontline Indian history fiction writing. Indu Sundaresan is the only author I can think of (Feast of Roses, The Twentieth Wife, Shadow Princess), but I am not too much of a fan, really, as she tends to get facts woefully wrong. I remember reading an edition where she'd mixed up the names of Akbar's Mother and his Chief wife!!!

Anyway, I digress...what I was trying to get at, is that there is a dearth of really wonderful Indian historical fiction writing, and I am so glad, that you have decided to try this genre for this SS. I am really looking forward to it.

Your descriptions for this prologue had the "Shru mark" which I always associate with your pieces. Your trademark intensity and attention to detail. I could really imagine the dank, forbidding darkness of the dungeon, sadistic Bagri actually deriving pleasure from the torture he's inflicting on Sanskaar. 😡 🤢

Torture is anyway abhorrent, but here, to make it worse, there was the definite feel that it wasn't just meant to be a deterrent to Sanskaar from his attempt to escape. Bagri wanted to inflict that pain, that lashing on him.

And Oh God, Sanskaar----the way you described the whipping being inflicted on him, I was actually involuntarily frowning and clasping my hands tightly in distress.

The line which stood out for me in this prologue, was your description of Sanskaar's blazing eyes, the windows to his defiant, magnificent soul. As you put it: " Eyes blazed like twin torches, pinpoints of silent rage and flaming abhorrence" 👏 👏.

He isn't really mad, is he? Is that an act put on by him? But then he wouldn't be showing so much defiance and attempts to escape isn't it? I get a sense its just a proforma excuse given by Rani Sahiba Annapurna Maheshwari, to engineer his release?

And again, our shared fascination for the sheer aura, regal bearing and depth of character of this lady comes to play. Saku, You & I have all delved into Annapurna's nature in various ways in our works, and its such a pleasure to see her persona here. Wonder why it took her so long to get him released though? 2 years or near unbearable torture, and 1 year before that, imprisoned while awaiting trial. I just loved the way she firmly asserted herself over Bagri...the way she says that her husband may be the King and the commander of the prisons, but he cannot be everywhere...in which time she can easily make Bagri disappear!! Wow, such menace!

Looking forward to Part 1 as soon as you are able to get some of the workload off your back. 😊

Viji my love 🤗
The mention to everyone was heartfelt, you all do keep me going and give me the courage to try different things, knowing I can rely on support and constructive feedback both.

I would have guessed you love historical fiction, we all are cut from the same cloth as far as our "reading" gang goes so that is no surprise! I am the same, I read a wide range of it. My particular obsessions have usually been anything based on the Greek and Roman era such as Troy (I know thats mythical but well!) and then grand battles like Thermopylae and others, so more historical fantasy fiction but part historical too like Philippa Gregory's work. The works you mention sound fascinating, have not read so will put on the list to devour soon. In terms of Indian writing, I confess I struggle, usually the flow of the prose just doesn't gel for me and I am rather picky, having always been partial to the classics. My work is nowhere near the standard of any published authors, liked or not liked but I so could imagine SwaSan in that setting, couldn't resist.

So happy to read your comments on the prologue sis, if you felt moved, I must have done something right! You will have read Part 1 now so will know the answer re the madness:) Annapurna is a real fascination for some of us as you have said and I wanted to show an Annapurna capable of all I see her able to do. There will be a simple explanation of why she couldn't get Sanskaar out before in one of the upcoming parts:).

Mwwah for this and will wait to see what you think of Part 1, this journey is proving rather challenging already!

Lots of love like always xoxo

Shru,

What a wonderful first chapter again left me begging to read more! Please continue soon!

I am loving Annapurna's character and I find her so interesting. I like how she assesses situations and people before passing any judgement. She notices everything and there is something about her that I can't put my fingers on. She is smart and shrewd and I think I am going to love her character in this TS.

Hahaha! You have described Swara perfectly. Her exuberance and her liveliness is so well defined. But I do think that there is more to her than she lets on and I felt that in SwaSan cosmic interaction. Looking forward to understanding her character more!

Love the little SwaSan cosmic connection. Ofcourse, there is no surprise that the man is our Dark Knight, Sanskaar - who wants to play games with Lakshya and his fiancee. I loved how you showed him to be distracted by our little joyous Swara. Loved how they felt each others presence and how even though they could not see each other actually, they still caught on each other's presence. It was so beautiful! 😳

Cannot wait for another chapter!

Love
Anna

Anna 🤗

Thank you love! I know you where you were and to have still come and unres this so quickly deserves a big xoxo!

I am super relieved you liked this chapter! Thanks for encouraging me to continue.

I am myself liking Annapurna as I write her! Yes, she is a truly intelligent woman which is how she used to come across on the show before they made her stupid and then swapped her back 😆.

Swara 😆, I just see her as bubbly and happy to start with but yes! There are depths to Swara that I'll have to try and explore and of course the true fun of that will be when Sanskaar starts to decipher her and she him! I wanted to show that they had a straightway connect, and hence that scene which is a variation of the one in the show where ages before they had a story she sensed him and looked up. So glad you liked the way that played out!

I'll try and update soon.

Much love, mmmwah

Awaiting the next update. Please update soon :)
