The Ride to Mpower Mumbai Cyclothon 2025 wrapped up at the MMRDA Grounds in BKC with an impressive crowd of more than six thousand cyclists taking part. The turnout included first time riders, seasoned cyclists, families, and para athletes who showed up to support the cause of mental health.
The event was organised by the Loha Foundation in association with the Sports Authority of India under the FIT India Movement. Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Shri Krishna Prakash and Mahima Chaudhary flagged off the ride, giving the morning a strong start.
Community Comes Together For Mental Wellness
The cyclothon arrived at a time when India is facing a growing mental health burden, especially among the youth. Public gatherings like this one help people come together and bring attention to issues that often remain hidden. Mpower, founded by Mrs Neerja Birla, used the platform to highlight the value of early help and open dialogue. Volunteers and experts encouraged people to speak freely about emotional well being and learn how to recognise distress in themselves and others.
A significant moment came when India Post released a Special Cancellation Stamp dedicated to the Ride to Mpower Mumbai Cyclothon. The stamp was unveiled by Suniel Shetty, Mahima Chaudhary and Ms Deepshikha Birla from India Post. The stamp was made available for one day at the GPO in Fort and marked an official acknowledgement of the event’s influence.
A Fitness Event With A Purpose
The cyclothon offered five ride categories which were 100 km, 50 km, 25 km, 10 km and a Wheelchair Ride. Participants received cycling jerseys, finisher medals, timing certificates and personalised photographs. Hydration stations and medical teams were placed along the routes. The venue also hosted mental health information booths, Zumba sessions, live music and a breakfast zone. The Charity BIB section raised funds for Mpower’s outreach work.
The prize ceremony featured several guests including actress Nikita Dutta who presented awards to the top performers. The gathering closed with a sense of shared purpose as people celebrated fitness, awareness and collective support for mental health.
