Can't remember how Mera Saaya was picturized. Vaguely remember Sadhana and Sunil Dutt climbing up some steps leading to a temple.

i also loved the song 'Yeh tera ghar ye mera ghar'. It just shows a normal day-to-day life of a young married couple Farooq Sheikh and Deepti Naval. What i loved was the positive attitude of the couple and the simplicity of the life. In todays fast paced world, when everybody is running in a mad rat race, one longs for the simplicity of earlier days when there were no mobile phones, i-pods,etc etc to disturb you. As pooja Bhatt rightly said on the show 'one rarely gets to see/hear anything simple in life nowadays', this song is all about simplicity (for me atleast). The song itself was nice too.

I didn't find the song all that great but yes, it was well picturized. Farooque and Deepti made a charming couple.

Its so lovely to relive all those songs by reading all of your posts...such great songs with equally great picturisations. Thanks all of you !

Another wonderful number that I recollect is one from Tere Ghar Ke Samne again..this is the climax song..."Sun Le Tu Dil Ki Sada..how both Om Prakash and Chattopadhyay realise that they were being very childish by putting their petty differences above the happiness of their children - Dev & Nutan. The lyrics were so very apt and thought provoking !

All the songs in that movie are well-made. What about "yeh tanhaai haai re haai, jaane phir aaye na aaye"?

Yes...all the songs in the movie were indeed well made....the yeh tanhai number was good. Aso liked "dekho rootha na karo re"...I think this was one of the best roothna manna songs with Nutan at her impish best !

Oh how could I forget this song from Kala Bazaar. Sitting on the lower berth of a two-tier train, Dev Anand sings "Apni to har aah ik toofan hai, kya kare woh jaan kar anjaan hai, uparwaala jaankar anjaan hai," while a gorgeous Waheeda sitting on the upper berth in confused whether Dev is singing this song for her or whether it is a bhajan addressed to God.

The funny part about this song is that Waheeda's parents watching the whole thing are also confused about Dev's intentions. Whenever they get suspicious that it sounds more like a love song, they frown but the moment Dev closes his eyes as if he is praying to God, they get reassured.

If you haven't watched this song, you've missed something. It's as much a treat for the eyes as the ears.

How about 'Mera kuch samman' from Ijajat - the song, the lyrics and the picturization - all poetry!

One cannot forget 'Jeena yaha marna yahaa' from 'Mera naam Joker'.. amazingly shot.. Raj Kapoor just hears the news that his mother has passed away, but he is a Joker and has to make people laugh.. he comes to the stage with his final performance.. all the 3 ladies who meant so much in his life are now settled with their partners.. the way raj kapoor carries the song is simply amazing..

some of my favourites:

koi door se awaz de from sahib, bii aur ghulam- meena kumari is a wife neglected by her husband and very lonely. the visuals show the huge desrted haveli and the song is hauntingly beautiful.

jaane kya tune kahi, pyasa- waheeda rehman is a prostitute trying to seduce guru dutt singing this song never realising that the song was written by him. guru dutt follows her right through which pleases her. at the end she realises that he is penniless and gets angry with him.

will add some more later.
