Hindi films are full of songs, many of which have been filmed so beautifully that you will remember the situation as much as the song itself. Not like MTV in which jerky images come and go. In some movies the songs are memorable while the movie itself is forgettable!
One such song situation I loved was in "Nau do gyaarah". Dev Anand has suddenly inherited a pile of money and with that he buys a bus that he converts into a camper van. He sets off on a long journey without a care in the world and this song on his lips.
Hum hain raahi pyaar ke
Hum se kuch na boliye
Jo bhi pyaar se mila
Hum usi ke ho liye
His journey takes him to various places such as Agra, Lucknow and so on with fields on either side of the highway. He just drives wherever he pleases, sleeps and eats on the way. It's a pleasure to watch this song.
Do you remember such song situations which made your day?

In recent days – the pasteurization of Swdesh songs really stir up my emotions. But if you meant funny way then – "Woh Ladki Hai Kahan" was hilarious.

From old gold days – 'Paanch rupiya – bara ana" of Kishore Kumar 😆

Hi Punjini,
What a great post! I am a diehard fan of our dear old bollywood gaanaas....but mostly I prefer the oldies....ONE of my all time fav is as follows:
A chikna AND svauve Dev Anand is snubbed royally by Nutan for the first 20 minutes of the film...then he finds himself falling headlong in love with this lambi heroine! They climb up the Qutub Minar...SD Burman rendering a fantastic score and one can ALMOST FEEL that one is going round and round up the Minar...can you remember the sets of violins creating this particular sound....then it is NUTAN who hears a particular tune...and WHAT A TUNE....she calls it "KHAMOSHI KI AWAAZ...hm hm hm"....Dev says: "Apney ko to sirf ek hi awaaz sunai dey rahi hai....", "Woh Kaunsi ?", "Ddil ki awaaz...jo key rahi hay hum, hum, hum"....Then at the top of the Minar Dev says "Ek ek ek matlab ki baat sunti jayiye"...then Nutan hears the tune again and my Favourite song goes...."Dil ka bhanwar karey pukar...pyar ka raag suno"...what a song, what voices...what people (I mean Dev and Nutan)....in my personal opinion it is one of the MOST ROMANTIC of songs.....every time I hear it or see it...I get goosebumps.... 😳

I like many oldies.........

Lately I kind of like Adnan Sami's "Lift Karadey" as it makes me laugh and also think how close that songs is to our thoughts.........

"Aise Waison ko diya hai...... Kaise Kaison ko diya hai........

Bungla Motor Car Dila dey...Ek Nahin do char dila dey........"

Don't we all think the same way. Atleast I do most of the times that "Aise Waison ko diya hai"

--------:-) 😛

Here is another song situation from Aandhi that touched me. Suchitra Sen and Sanjeev Kumar meet after 12 years of separation and their romance is rekindled all over again. They wonder why they were away for so many years and wish they could bring those years back again. There is a kind of pathos and longing in this song that I can't explain. Especially in the way Suchitra Sen looks at Sanjeev Kumar.

The song is
Tere bina zindagi se koi shikwa to nahi,
Tere bina zindagi bhi lekin zindagi nahin

Oh Gulzar! You know what separation means.

Oh yes, I was going to put this song now but found your post. Isn't the song shot so brilliantly? Not only is the song so melodious, but the acting of Dev and Nutan is so realistic. I like the thrill on Nutan's face when a cool breeze blows on her face and she holds up her dupatta in joy. Also the way in which the passers by look at the couple indulgently. Did you know that one of the passers by was Vijay Anand, the Director himself?

Picturization of songs makes all the difference doesn't it. Taal has such wonderful songs, but I was very disappointed with the way they were picturized. Roja, on the other hand was so well done.

I can think of 'Tere mere Milan ki' from Abhimaan.
