Yeah I mentioned this song in my post, along with others..remember?

Yes you mentioned it. But I can't remember how it was filmed.

koi door se awaz de from sahib, bii aur ghulam- meena kumari is a wife neglected by her husband and very lonely. the visuals show the huge desrted haveli and the song is hauntingly beautiful.

jaane kya tune kahi, pyasa- waheeda rehman is a prostitute trying to seduce guru dutt singing this song never realising that the song was written by him. guru dutt follows her right through which pleases her. at the end she realises that he is penniless and gets angry with him.

will add some more later.

What about the other song from Saheb Bibi Ghulam "Bhanvara bada naadaan hai". Waheeda rags Guru Dutt completely in that!

Almost all the songs of Guru Dutt's movies were picturised very well...from Aar Paar, to Mr & Mrs.55, to Saheb Bibi, to Pyaasa...somehow, I find an element of sensitivity in all of his songs...

Yes and one I have always found to be just too good.

Wakt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam
Tum Rahae na Tum Hum Rahae Na hum

It's from the movie Kagaz ke Phool. The effect of light and shadow with the song is just too good.

I thought this one was sung in a jail and not in a train ??

Someone else also mentioned this song. A lot of effort went into filming this song - giant mirrors were used to focus the light on one corner of the room to give the light and shade effect.

Another song that I love to "watch" is "O Saathi Chal" from Seeta or Geeta...Hema looked gorgeous as ever, but also had this mischeivous look which was very endearing...and with Hema and Sanjeev on roller skates, which I thought was a novel idea indeed....though I have to say that there was this one shot..close up of Sanjeev that showed he had put on just too much of make up... 😉 Barring this, its an evergreen song.

Hahaha Aparna, you said it! If only Sanjeev Kumar had cut down the lipstick and powder 😆
