Monetji, Chitralekha has the classical song "kaahe tarsaaye jeeyara" which is a dance sequence. The song is wonderful - based on raag Kalavati.

thanx punjiniji. but no monetji for me please.😊

This is such a great topic and is soo loooooong, I don't know whether the songs of Kabhie Kabhie are discussed. I love almost all songs from the movie. The title track, if I am not mistaken ( one version of it) is picturised on Amitabh and Rakhee, there seems to be so much of love between them in this song. Rakhee keeping her head on Amitabh's lap and singing, the entire atmosphere seems to be very peaceful. The other song, tere chehre se nazar nahin hatathi, picturised on Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor. This is how young lovers should be, I feel. Both dance with great abandon and care a damn about everybody else. Mein pal do pal ka shaayar hoon, Amitabh singing inside a classrom and Rakhee sitting in the audience and blushing so ... No dream sequence (as is usually the case in such situations), just the classroom and people in it. So believable!!

BTW, anybody has sansar se bhaage phirte ho from Chitralekha? I would be grateful if it is uploaded on cooltoad or any other such site...

At last I could log on! Thanks Shekhar and AD for writing to the moderators!

My next song. "Ajeeb dastan hai yeh, kahan shuru kahan khatam". It's sung by Meena Kumari in a party held on a boat. The message in the song is understood only by Raj Kumar while the entire crowd doesn't is just having a good time. Beautiful song!

Punjini, you always manage to beat me to it...I have been meaning to write about this song....It was Dil Apna Aur Preet Parayee.....The song is picturised so very beautifully.....black and white but still managed to capture the beauty of the mahaoul.....superb!

Fantastic song indeed and as you said, it is a beautifully picturised song.

Kisiikaa pyaar leke tum
nayaa jahaan basaaoge
ye shaam jab bhii aaegii
tum hamako yaad aaoge

As Meena Kumari sings this verse, Raj Kumaars eyes go down and away, and one of her friends, ( I can recollect her face, but not her name) looks on, sees the reactions of Meena Kumari and Raaj Kumar and suddenly catches on the meaning of the song, is about to react, but control her facial expression.

I love this picturisation as it says a lot without much words and just the barest flick of eyes to convey the emotions.

Has anyone seen "nahin main nahin dekh sakta tujhe rote huey" picturised on Amitabh Bachhan in Majboor? The song is not great but it has been shown so well. The way Amitabh comforts his crippled sister with "ek din bigdi kismat badal jaayegi, yeh khushiyaan hamse bachkar kidhar jaayegi" is so touching. Young Amitabh with sincerity written all over him and cute Farida Jalal make your day. I like the way AB finally makes his sister smile and see the brighter side of life.
