Hello Lovely People

I have just discovered my latest obsession with this show.😃 The cinematography is fabulous...the burning sun and the desert sands are captured beautifully along with SI and AS...who by the way are doing an amazing job at portraying their characters❤️...the story and screenplay could be better...but its a Daily soap so yea...we have to put up with the illogical...

Coming to the Point...I consider myself a Staunch Feminist...I am always up for Women's Equality...actually that is a lie...I am more inclined towards Women's superiority 😈 😆 Iand Yet I am loving this show and surprisingly I am loving Rudra as well...it baffles me to think exactly why am I so fascinated with the character and this show?

I saw the last couple of episode with Lahu in the Maang and the forced power-play of self mutilation. I was horrified with the thought, how desperate and cornered one must feel in Paro's situation? what must be going through a persons head to burn herself for 10 seconds on that pan...negating every human instinct and reflex of your nerve endings telling her to pull away, to flinch away...but she stood there and chose to take that pain

She thought she had won...and Perhaps she had...but Rudra doesnt loose...he wouldnt give an inch...not even for a moment...not even let her have this victory after going through so much pain...he forced her agony filled hands to apply the cooling Henna, all the while burning her soul in the process...just to prove to her that he will be relentless in his pursuit of justice for his men who died because of his mission.

I want someone to kick his ass!! (Read Paro) ...I want someone to beat some sense into him...some humanity into him...and more importantly I want to hate him...and Yet here I am...I am enthralled by him...No matter how much I hate what he is doing...I still admire his single-mindedness to achieve his goal...his absolute commitment to his cause no matter what...his devil may care attitude...his vulnerability...his sheer force of will that made him rise above his screwed up childhood and find some semblance of a life.

So My conundrum is...why 21st century, educated, independent women find Heroes like Rudra Pratap Ranawat so attractive? even after knowing what a woman hating, misogynist, messed up, control freak he is? why do women actually like characters like Rudra...the romance genre is filled with Characters like him...especially desi soaps...we had Angad Khanna, Thakur Digvijay singh, Maan Singh Khurana, ASR, RK and many many more...why do we women like these men? why do we watch them every day doling out their healthy doses of MCP behavior against our lovely pure heroines? 😕

Is it because we all are secretly fascinated with Stockholm Syndrome?😕

Is it because, the more someone is mighty, the greater their fall is?

Is it because we all think that Beast is the best type of Hero and should be treated with kindness for Beauty to win him over...no matter how cruel and unforgiving he is towards her?

Do we all want to be rescued all the time?

Or Is it because we all want to see these heroes eat their words and brought to their knees by their women?

These question has been bugging me for a while...I would like some opinions...please feel free to agree or disagree...these are all my opinions and thoughts not statements of fact 😉

Love
J

Bold- That is my case too... In all my soap experiences, I have always stood with the female protagonist no matter what... Somehow, here I am drawn to Rudra... I also have this question to myself- why?????

well written...J
You Qs and thoughts are valid...
Despite all the "not acceptable" doings of Rudra (from a woman's point of view) I admire him...

1)He is just too dashing...looks and expressions make my woman heart melt...
2)He is right which ofcourse one day his lady will come to know till then...we will all seesaw.
3)he is a man in uniform...they love a little hatke...let's not forget they are trained to hate their enemies...

More later...but yeah...I just love and drool over rudra/AS...

I can't comment on the other heroes, but I can comment on Rudra. The reason he's seen as so attractive is because he is NOT simply "a woman hating, misogynist, messed up, control freak" but because he's a grey character. Meaning he doesn't hate all women, he has misplaced anger towards them. It's a personal war he's facing. He's not messed up per say, he's had a tough childhood that has wounded him and made him a certain way. One would argue he's also a control freak, but he's a man in uniform who is protecting others via this authority and control.

I think the reason Rudra is so well seen in spite of his personality and actions is again because he's not technically on the bad side:
He would never hurt a woman- yes he may hold Paro's hand too tight- but he wouldn't physically harm her.
He would never sexually assault a woman- he get's in Paro's personal space to test her comfort zone, but he would never go beyond that or attempt something grossly inappropriate.

He's not a nice guy. He's also not the stereotypical "bad boy". He's simply a shade darker than most, and better then that his character is one that has walls built around him, that will eventually break down- and Parvati will be the hammer that chips away at his armor, slowly one gaze at a time.

there.. you said it.. we educated people preaches equality and wears mask of equality...but if you ever had lived in a village, you should see what equality is..in the day time we can hear the wife's roaring and in the night a boozed husband's roaring... then about women's superiority, who doesn't want to boss her husband, atleast once in a while.. likewise who doesn't want to see their dear heroine taming a beast and tying him on her saree's pallu..but one thing is must he has to be unique in expressing love..

Oh yes I like Such heroes- and Im not some starry eyed teenager- 😆 (a science researcher 😊)..

We like them because they are Not Hypocrites! They DoNot Deceive!
They may be brooding, rash, sometimes acting like Maniacs- But with right person beside them they could be reformed...
And such men Do exist-rare but they do, I myself know one

Gosh I am breaking my "bhishma pratigya"😆 (of not writing my own thots after yesterday's forum bizzare) by answering ur questions...ermmm with my thots!🤔
Ok so for me what stands out in Rudra despite all his darkness is his sheer genuine-ness to protect and stand up for Paro when she is put on fire for no fault of hers. Now u may ask what about when he puts her on the fire himself? Again...its psuedo-protection (man I am tired of this word "psuedo" as well😆)...He put her on fire only when he sees her wrong...tries to reason out but she fails to take any of his "decent" attempts.
In real life...tell me which man will stand up against his kaki...maa...sister or any family member to protect the honor...the dignity of his lady? I wont say I haven't seen any...coz my own father was one such rare breed...but then he had exact temperants that of Rudra...and a dark past as well. When he protected by mom...he was corrosive to every other...but he wud be equally angered at my mom for being so silly and putting herself in the line of fire.
But then...I have seen many other man who wud keep shut when his family member/s are taunting his wife in front of him for no reason. They wud humiliate the wife and the husband will simply ignore or justify the family member...or worst...add onto it by agreeing and saying a few more humiliating words extending to domestic violence for the wife trying to fend for herself. These are the kinds of men I have seen in real life. Men that are ready to let of his wife coz she cannot bear his child and run with mommy's words of getting a 2nd wife. Men that will have the wife beaten up by his family members coz she is not agreeing to his commands. Such is real life...
So if I can see a man like Rudra...who with all his might is trying to save and protect Paro...even if that mean he himself have to put her on fire (but not quite letting her burn at all) just to protect her...I will gladly take that. Coz yes...his course of action might be wrong in just that moment of stance...but the intent is that of noble-ness.
Rudra is the last person who wants this marriage to happen...and he is trying with all his might to get the message across to Paro...to stop it from happening...He wants her to wake up and see the reality she so blindly thinks is a pink bubble. Today he was down to almost begging her to stop pushing him and herself both from heading towards nothing but destruction. Paro is not wrong on her side coz she is too white to understand and even begin to imagine what "grey" is...let alone the "darkness" that she has grown up under...People like her have to be jolted...and sometimes prity badly to see the reality and its ugly after that...Rudra knows that already and he is trying to protect Paro from that ugliness...
This is what I love about him...he is genuinely protecting her and if in that he is taking some "wrong" actions...so be it...
I choose to take the destination (the intent) ...not the route (actions)!!

I couldnt agree more - I've asked myself the same question in my head over and over again - esp when I watched IPK. Glad to see some others struggling to make sense of the attraction to this genre of soap operas.
