Singer composer Amaal Mallik has issued a public apology after facing backlash for liking tweets that criticised fellow Bigg Boss 19 contestant Baseer Ali. The online activity led to sharp exchanges between their respective fan groups, with many questioning Mallik’s stance. Addressing the issue, he clarified that the engagement was not deliberate and expressed regret over the controversy.
Mallik, who shared a close bond with Baseer during the reality show, said the matter had been blown out of proportion. Responding on X, he wrote, “Most important thing I’d like to point out that my friend and manager Krish & Mourjo have not spoken right about Baseer, it may not be direct but by indirectly by targeting his song or how he is moving in his career is completely wrong."
He further explained that the likes from his account should not be seen as an endorsement of criticism. According to him, the activity happened during a busy period around music releases and without checking the full context of the posts.
“I apologize for all of this & I am dil se sorry for the mudslinging happening towards my brother @Baseer_Bob," he stated. Thanking Baseer for maintaining dignity amid the noise, Mallik urged fans to avoid hostility and respect their friendship. “This is not for any music video that I’m saying this, I genuinely feel bad about what has gone down. Sorry to Baseer and his entire fandom," he added.
In recent weeks, Mallik has remained in discussion over both professional and personal matters. A previous social media post about distancing himself from family had sparked speculation. He later clarified his relationship with brother Armaan Malik, maintaining that their bond remains intact despite rumours. The two have collaborated on several projects and continue to support each other publicly.
On the work front, Mallik recently featured in a music video with Farhana Bhatt for the romantic track Yahin Guzaar Doon, sung by him and Shreya Ghoshal. The song centres on companionship and emotional intimacy, adding to his ongoing slate of releases.
