Good girls are always drawn to bad boys!! The challenge is on both the sides. The girl wants to tame the lion and the bad boy wants to make the cat purr like a tigress !! Lol.
Regarding the question why- It's the law of the nature I think.

Because its fiction and in fiction you know the alpha male will reform, change for the better and fall head over heels in love with the heroine. So we wait for that day and enjoy the reformation every step of the way.

In real life, you'd kick the guy out of your life, provided you have the mental stregnth to do so, because you really don't have the guarantee that after investing 1, 5, 10 or 20 years you will get a reformed man. In shows we see snippets of the heroine's pain and then we live on, in real life you will be a non-heroine, living the hellish burden every minute of the day and its not a pleasant passage of time.

So, i can take the alpha philandering male chauvinist of a hero in my fiction but not in my reality.

Because women want to believe in fantasyland there are no jerks...even leads who are jerks at times...are essentially good guys ... hopelessly in love (already or will be there) ...and are waiting to come out of their "frog or beast" cloak or what have you as soon as they are kissed by a Princess...

In other words...the princess is the one who holds the key...😉

Crazy 410 --- natures law... bang on the answer

My views:

It is the moony, lusty, ahankkar kinda of feeling of having somebody in your life who is strong yet vulnerable, blunt yet caring...

Split personalities are always interesting!!

We have been conditioned to it..not all of the girls find it romantic..a lot of my close friends don't gush about RR..nor they did about ipk...
Most of us who have read romantic novels in our teens.. Read as in devour romantic novels like mills and boon, regency romance avon romances.. Will find heroes build to this type of character..
I must have read thousand romantic novels..I have yet to read a male character build like Suraj..though he is an ideal hubby in indian sense... a logical girl will be happier with such a cring and supportive guy..

We always read about dark disturbed heroes.. With a checquered past..if the next generation of girls stop reading these flame and flower kind of novels..we will see a stop on the popularity of such characters in tv..
ASR was a typical mills and boon hero.. Built on mr Darcy..prototype..
rudra..has a lot of characteristics from novels from Kathleen E woodiwiss, Johanna Lindsey novels.

i think Rudra character is a two sided coin, one bad side and one good
and although i hate to admit it, men like him exist in real life that is why we are drawn to his character
