Tehran producer Dana Eden was found dead in a hotel room in Greece, where the fourth season of the series is currently being filmed. She was 52. Local authorities have begun an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to a report in Variety, Greek police are examining the case to rule out any suspicious elements. As of now, no official cause of death has been confirmed. Eden had travelled to Greece to oversee the ongoing shoot of the internationally acclaimed spy drama.
Amid speculation on social media, her production house, Shula and Donna Productions, issued a clarification. In a statement, the company said, “The production company would like to clarify that the rumors suggesting a criminal or nationally motivated death are untrue and completely baseless”.
Eden co founded the banner with fellow producer Shula Spiegel and was widely regarded as a key figure in Israel’s television industry. Over the years, she backed several major projects and played an active role in shaping contemporary Israeli programming. Following the news of her death, condolences poured in from across the media fraternity and public institutions.
Israeli public broadcaster Kan, which co produces the series, also expressed grief. In a statement shared via Kan News, it said, “We are saddened by the passing of our friend and partner in a long line of productions, series and programs at the Israel Broadcasting Corporation – Dana Eden. Dana was among the senior figures in the Israeli television industry and was a central figure in the creation and leadership of some of the corporation’s most prominent and influential productions.”
The note further added, “The fourth season of the series is currently being filmed in Greece – a complex and significant production, which Dana came to closely monitor. Her professional work, uncompromising commitment and love of creation have left a deep mark on the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation. Here we share in the heavy mourning of her family, friends and colleagues, and embrace her dear partner, our friend Shula Spiegel.”
The series follows Mossad agent Tamar, played by Niv Sultan, as she undertakes covert missions linked to Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Although set in Iran, much of the show is filmed in Greece.
