OMG...I dont know what to say...
Rangrasiya seems to be playing colors with lots of minds here...Every scene and we have people divided in the forum with 1 side going "oh-so-hot" while the other going "oh-how-painful"
Like why cant people watch the show as a whole...why individualise the characters here when they both are actually part of the same story with each aspect of their characterization being reasoned out.
No I am not saying I cant feel Paro's pain...I am a woman...and 1 who has first hand experience of domestic violence...intimidation and manipulation...so I know what it must be like to be in her shoes.
But I cannot ignore Rudra and his die-hard commitment to his work...to his dead soldiers and to himself.
Yes ...he is stooping low...he is intimidating her...manipulating her...but he has reason for that and he is being honest and upfront to Paro about it. He is NOT enjoying any of this...infact he is the last person who feels ready for a commitment like marriage...But he has bowed down...to his work...his nation...his commitment...much before Paro came into his life. I may not agree to his "TACTICs' which is what I will call dis facade of his...but I will appreciate the man for his honesty of his work towards Paro.
He is time and again telling her why he is doing what he is doing...and he agrees and admits that he is stooping low...but the reasons weigh much more higher for him and that's exactly where he falls a prey to his own actions.
And since I do watch the show as a whole...I can still see that the man ...no matter how strong a resolve he has to break Paro...is falling short somewhere...and that because the human in him is still alive. He may say he doesnt care...but he still fiercely runs to rescue her. Someone here said..."its not like he knew"...TRUE!
His mind is made up..."he has to break Paro...by hook or by crook"...and his puts it all into action less knowing Paro wont belittle here...and his heart gives way. He harms her...but in a calculative way...till he realizes she has gone beyond his calculations...
Putting mehendi...all I saw was a man trying to hit 2 shots with 1 bullet. Smart...sharp...but HUMAN...
He cudnt' lose the round...but he cudnt let Paro suffer either...so mehendi was his solution...it will win him the round...it will soothe her pain...and that's where it ended for him. Yes Paro is having to go thru a feeling thats prolly like dying a thousand deaths...but to him...her outer pain AND his win weighed more...
If only shrewd...if only win was the matter...he cud have smashed hard the mehendi on her palms...but he was delicate with her...all the while...he ensured his win...but he encompasssed her pain along as well!!

Thank you for this sensible post. She is the one suffering, she has been dragged away from everything she knows and the people she loves to forcibly marry a man she doesn't know, want or love. This forced marriage in most countries is a crime, there is nothing romantic about it, however, it seems when watching these shows we have to check our brains at the door.😉

Totally!!

PrettyPri and Shreya (and others)---

The issue is being looked at fro different perspectives, as any issue that cuts so close to the bone among thinking women should be. I am glad you guys are arguing your take on it so thoughtfully and with such good points--none of the "he is hawt! Lolz! He touchiya her handiya! Hai mein maarjawaa! Rudra can do no wrong" crap among the ladies here!

Thanks for writing your posts--I hope you understand my dissent is just my viewpoint, and anything but personal!

Sorry to butt in- I can't help but wonder how many members are admitting to have experienced domestic violence and other kind of abuse. That you all are talking about it is commendable.

Another reason why this post is worth appreciation.

yes, and for argument's sake, in the real context women often get forcefully burnt by their inhuman, abusive husbands and in laws or when they try to commit suicide to escape that tremendous psychological torture, they are not soothed by their caring better halves with cold waters,or herbal pastes.

i found the advances an attempt on the part of the CVs to demonstrate paro's helplessness which i found very close to abuse(from paro's point of view) i saw paro today rather than what led rudra to act that way

sure he has a justification to it , but the justification was selfish(in my opinion) to put a girl in this situation ,and like i said that is the premise of the show

we cannot forget that paro is innocent , and i didnt see any attempts to check that
the dynamics of the forums is interesting , we can always have diagonally opposite views 😊

@Sajni..
the Mehendi was torture (in my perspective) ..he was invading her sexually and amid an audience of her own social circle ...Slamming it on would have been actually not cruel at all.

a million thanks for this post. actually, i was literally in tears while watching that scene. agony, disgust, anger, helplessness.. i dont know what all things paro might had felt at that moment.. feeling for a character is not the first time for me... when i put me in her place and thougt, i realised that i would have been dead by this time.. i'm happy that i didn't miss the chance to watch such a well written script enancted by a talented actress.. i'm not a promoter of domestic violence or manhandling.reel and real are like earth and sky, seems to meet at some point but not in reality. i am watching a love-hate story, so mentally prepared to see these type of scenes. but the intensity of today's scene shocked me. well done creatives. even though rang rasiya is a bit heavy for me, i started the habit of counting the hours for the next episode..

No I didn't mean it was personal.. I meant that an opposing view point should not be viewed with total disbelief and the notion that the people holding it are actually glorifying the acts being abhorred in the original post.

And I wont argue ur perspective...u just stand a different window than I do.
To me, if I was in Paro's shoes...the insult that I would have felt in public (a public that is in a remote village and who gives man of the household a status of GOD and who has witness but misunderstood his gestures as love)...while being slammed with mehendi on my palms...would have been added torture amongst all the intimidation and manipulation that is already going on!
