Part 65

They are disturbed, Aayush hits his forehead with his hand, Khanak smiles genuinely, Shaan is irritated…Khanak turns about to go to their room, to get changed…Shaan opens the door, finds Aman with a lady…Shaan welcomes him with a smile, shaan faintly remembers the lady in the hospital…

House staff, rearranges the couches in the living hall…

Aman: Hey!! Kya ho raha tha yaar?? (asks casually, seeing the arrangement of couches in the hall)

Shaan: bus aise hi!! (shrugs)

All three of them sits…

Aayush comes running to Shaan, with a bat and ball in his hand…

Aayush: papa mein bahar khelne jaa raha hun, aap mom ko bholdena…

Shaan smiles and nods, Aayush runs out…

Aman: Shaan, this is Dr. Anjali!! She's working OBG dept.

Shaan: oh nice!! Vohi toh main soch raha tha, ki maine aapko kahi dekha hain…

Anjali is not amused; she barely smiles, and looks over at the house…

Khanak comes down; she's now wearing a dark blue chudidhar, sleeveless one, her hair left out…

Khanak smiles warmly at Aman, Anjali looks curiously at Khanak. Shaan intros Khanak to Anjali…

Khanak excuses herself to kitchen to bring some coffee or tea, Anjali joins her, Khanak is uncomfortable, but she allows her to join her…

Khanak is busy boiling the water, and looks for some snacks in the cupboard…

Anjali: I heard that you are newly married??!

Khanak smiles and nods…Anjali is not amused once again…

Anjali: you have your mock test tomorrow right??

Khanak: yeah!!

Anjali: so prepared??

Khanak: kind of!! (smiles) (Puts the tea powder into the boiling water)

Anjali: ghar par kohi nahi hain??

Khanak: actually sab bahar gaye hain, aaj Sunday hai na…(fetches milk from the fridge)

Anjali: so your's a joint family?? (curious)

Khanak: yeah!!! (keeps the milk for boiling in a container)

Anjali: The kid?? (mentioning about Aayush)

Khanak: Aayush!! He is my brother's son, I lost my family in an accident!!

Anjali: oh! Im sorry…(hesitant)

Khanak: That's fine!! (brings out the tea set out) (Off's the stove)

Anjali: how's life going?? I mean tumhara exams hain, at same time, your still a newly married…difficult ho raha hoga na??!!

Khanak: (stops in her tracks, looks at her) No!! im able to manage!! Shaan is really supportive; he's helping me in my exams!! (smiles)

Anjali: that's good!!you are very lucky Khanak!! (smiles, but not a good one)

Khanak: I know!! I am indeed!! (smiles to herself)

Anjali: But still I think you should have waited for some more time..u know for marriage…

Khanak's expression changes… She looks serious, but still her face is inscrutable…She waits…

Anjali: I mean, agar Shaan tumse itna hi pyaar karta tha…

Khanak: karta hain!! (confident)

Anjali: oh!! Ok..you both could have waited…you do know that it's very important for you to focus on your career at this time!!

Khanak is not sure, why is she even talking about Khanak's life, Shaadi ki marzi Khanak aur Shaan ki thi, who the hell asked her opinion about my life!!! Khanak thought fiercely, at first…but then calmed herself thinking that, Anjali is a lady, who would like to gossip on other's life…Khanak is not interested any more…She continue staring Anjali, waits for her to stop, so that she could tell her that, she doesn't need her opinion on her life…

Anjali: abb shaadi karke, I think you made a mistake in your life, I mean Shaan will be too enthusiastic to have you around him, aur kya pata, his family would pester for you for a kid, I mean your's and Shaan's offspring….

Khanak: ek minute!! (Khanak composes herself to face her)

Khanak: agar aapko pata nahi hain, toh phir main aapko yaad diladeti hun, ki aap mujhse paanch minute pehle mili hain..you don't have any rights to talk about my life and my decision!!! Hope you got that!! And yes I agree that, you are elderly to me, that doesn't mean that you get to judge my family!! Please stop poking your nose!!! (smiles sweetly, places the snacks on her tray, she has poured, everything into the tea set, leaves out of the kitchen)

Anjali just follows her, this time she's amused…Khanak is strong, she won't be just hearing someone to talk cheap about Shaan or her family!!! Its simply not done!!

Khanak gives tea for all of the three, she excuses herself from the group, telling that she has work, she's not interested in their talk….

Goes to their room, drinks a glass full of water, to calm her nerves, paces the room for sometime, when she realizes that she's fine… She opens her book and buries herself inside it…

Aman and Anjali had visited for a formal evening, since Aman is new in the city, and as he liked Shaan's compny, he had thought of spending time with him, Shaan gets to know that Aman and Anjali are married and are divorced…Now they are just colleagues…Aman talks about having a new apartment, Shaan tells that he'll confirm about that, and they talk about the fellowship programme, they are supposed to post the application from now itself, so that they could attend their entrance exams in time…Shaan is thrilled to hear about it…

If he gets into the programme, then he and Khanak with Aayush will be shifting to America, may be if their fortune is good as it is now, then they even may have the baby there…Shaan smiles at the thought…Leading their own life!!! Forming a perfect family and happy life ahead!!

After sometime, both of them leaves…Aayush is returned back from his playing session, goes to see his mom, Shaan gets on a call from his new hospital, confirming his schedule for them…

Aayush sees Khanak immersed in her lappy, goes and hugs her from back, Khanak pulls him so that now, he's lying on the bed..

Khanak: Aayush!! Kaha the aap??

Aayush: mom!! Bahar gaya tha…aap kya kar rahe hain?? (gets up and peeps into her laptop)

This is not new for her, she tells him what she's looking for..he just listens…

Akshay and Khushboo returns, Shaan tells them that Khanak is preparing for test, they decide not to disturb her, Shaan comes back to their room, sees Khanak engulfing Aayush in her arms completely, her hair moved to one side, her back is towards the door, how can he be left alone…

He too joins them now Shaan engulfing both of them…

Shaan: kya kar rahe ho, tum dono, mujhe chodkar??

Khanak: we were planning a plot.. (playful)

Shaan: on??

Khanak: How to get rid of you?? (hides her giggle)

Shaan: what?? (pulls her back, so that he can see her face, now Aayush is out of Khanak's embrace, he's kneeling in front of them, and watches them with a smile on his face)

Shaan: kya main itna bura hun??

Khanak: aur nahi toh kya, game ko adhi chod ke chal gaye, bechara mera bachca, aap ki vaja se doop mein khelna pada.. (mock anger)

Aayush giggles hearing that, Khanak smiles at Aayush…

Shaan: achcha!! Madam abb complaint kar rahi hain, pehle toh bahut bhaav dikha rahi thi, ki mujhe khelna velna nahi hain and all…Kyun Aayush?? (Aayush nods sweetly at Shaan)

Shaan: dekha??!

Khanak: how mean Aayush?? Main tumhari side le rahi hun, aur tum ho ki…(sad)

Aayush knows the better way to get his mom into laughing mode, he without seeing their faces starts to ticle Khanak, Khanak is startled, she wriggles in Shaan's embrace…

Khanak: Aayush maine kya kiya??? (speaks in between her laughter) Shaan is completely enjoying…

Aayush: kuch nahi mom!! Aaj subah se aapne teek se hasi nahi hain, issliye…(continues to tickle her)

Khanak somehow frees herself from Shaan's grip, and moves out of the bed…

Before they could continue with their game… Dinner is served in their room…They eat with lots of teasing and laughter, its like she's out of her tensions, Shaan and Aayush are happy to see her laugh…

After dinner, Aayush bails from there, telling he's sleepy and before taking his goodnight kiss from his parents…

After he leaves Shaan locks the door and gets hold of her, she struggles, they both land on the bed, her back hitting his chest…

Khanak: Shaan, abb maine kya kiya???

Shaan: were you serious in telling that, you want to get rid of me…(rubs his cheek on her bare arm)

Khanak: Shaan, I was joking!!

Shaan: seriously??

Khanak: seriously!! (squirming) abhi chodo…

Shaan: kyun??? (turns her around to face him)

Khanak: Shaan, please aaj..i need to go through some stuff…please please…

Shaan: fine!!! (reluctantly) usse pehle…

Now she's underneath him, he crushes her under his weight…His lips cover on hers, she melts in him…

After sometime, she's settled on the couch with her things, he's asleep on the bed…

She continues her last part of going through some important points…She is said to have a good memory in her studies, thanks to her mom!!

Somewhere around 3am….she gets up startled, she's sleeping on the bed…Shaan senses that, he gets up too, he switches on the bed lamp, finds her sweating, pours a glass of water and hands it to her, she drinks it all…

Shaan: Kya hua Khanak?? Bura sapna dekha kya??

Khanak: hmm..(nods in yes)

Shaan: dream was about??

Khanak: main meri exam ko late pahunchi, aur mujhe exam lene se mana kar diya tha!!

Shaan stares at her…In no time, Shaan bursts into laughter…Khanak looks at him…

Shaan: Khanak!! Tum aur tumhare sapne!!! (laughs some more and controls himself)

Shaan: chalo ab so jao!!

Khanak: nahi!!

Shaan: Khanak tumne abhi ek ghante pehle soyi thi, agar tumhe kal ka test achcha dena hain toh, so jao!!!

Khanak is still in shock, Shaan shuts the light off, lies down and makes her lie down on his left arm…After some time, she sleeps in his arms…

Morning is a hurry for her, she had gotten up early, showered, made Aayush ready, woke Shaan, he being adamant, at first teased her, then he understood that, she's nervous, he got up, showered and he's ready…

Shaan dropped Aayush first, and then Khanak….Aayush had wished her luck, even Shaan!! Today he had to go to other hospitals, Khanak had nervously stepped out from the car, he had smiled at her back…

For her fortune, Anjali was there, she wished her luck, Khanak thanked her and smiled.. Raj had been there, he was appearing as though he had read each and every part, this made Khanak more tensed…

Seeing her tensed…

Anjali: maine kaha tha Khanak!! Maan lo, ki tumne galati ki hain!!

Khanak is like what??? Ek toh pehle tension kam hain kya uske zindagi main, ki yeh aa gayi hain!! Disgusting!!!

At evening, Shaan climbs the stairs up, he had not got a single chance to call her and ask about her test…He enters his room, to finds it messed up with the papers, he's shocked and woders where she is??

He founds her behind the door, seems like she has cried a lot, her eyes are red…Shaan is terrified looking at her…

He kneels in front of her…

Shaan: Khanak!! Kya hua??

Khanak: (after a long pause, she finds her voice) voh teek keh rahi thi!!!

Shaan: kya?? Kaun Khanak??

Khanak: ki…yeh shaadi galati hain!!! (looking down, her voice shaking)

Now Shaan has lost his voice…did he just hear her telling that, their marriage was a mistake???

He's devasted!!
