He does not believe his own ears, what he just heard from her…On the other side, she continues her blabbering…
Khanak: im the worst thing to happen in this whole world……..im a jerk….im….
These words bring him back on the earth, he looked at her, he gets that now, that she's in a concussion….
For a moment they are disturbed by Dhruv and Raj, who had brought her home safely….
Dhruv: Shaan…(tensed)
Shaan is just staring at her…Dhruv and Raj exchange looks.
Raj: Don't worry Shaan…she's fine…she just needs some time…(hesitates)
Shaan has got ears only for his wife…She continues…
Khanak: I really got to be the most selfish, cruel person in the whole world….im so wrong for you shaan…
That's it, Shaan gets closer, he's fierce now, gets hold of arms in both of his hands.
Shaan: Khanak!!! (shouts and strongly jerks her)
She looks at him, brought out of her concussion, tears roll down flawlessly, she hides in his chest, hugs him tightly and sobs into his test…
Shaan's terrified, but hugs her back…Raj and Dhruv gets that, they need some time, they both slowly walk out and closes the door behind them…
Shaan has no idea what to do, let her sob…
Tears, is an indication that we are immensely hurt, but at the end as they wash of the watery secretion from our eyes, in the same way, they some how manage to erase off our hurt…
They soothe us…
She's crying and hiccupping. He gets the glass of water for her from the table, makes her drink. Wipes her tears, gives her the napkin, she blews her nose into it, her face is pale, she once again starts to cry, he hugs her back, he feels terrible for her…
Shaan: shhh…Khanak..bus..bus…(calms her down)
After what seems like forever, she has stopped crying, she's leaning on him, eyes closed…
He slowly gets up and lifts her up in his arms, she hugs herselg more to his form, he walks over to the bed, places her gently on the bed…sits next to her, and she has his hand held in her hands…
She looks tired, he gets that she must not have eaten anything, he tries to extricates his hand, she further hold on to it tightly and moves nearer to him, places her head on his lap, she settles down with his hand held under her cheek, his other hand caresses her hair, he leans his head back on the head rest…
After some time, he gently release his hand form her hold, places her head on the pillow, gets up and lets himself out…He goes towards dining area, to get something for her…
In the dining area, Sunil, Akshay, Dhruv and Raj are seated…They see Shaan coming there…
Dhruv: How is she Shaan?? (worried)
Shaan: she's sleeping…
Dhruv: I'll just go have a look on her and come…(turns to go, Raj tries to stop him, but…)
Shaan stops him by placing his left hand in front of Dhruv, as if telling stop!!!
Shaan: Thanks for your concern Dhruv!! But let me handle this… She's my wife!! (cold yet possessive)
Dhruv: For surely Shaan…lekin…
Raj pulls Dhruv..
Raj: Dhruv, Shaan ne kaha na, voh so rahi hain, toh use sone dena..tu bait..(makes Dhruv sit)
Dhruv: lekin Raj….
Raj: Dhruv, chill!!
Shaan looks over and searches Aayush, but he is not there…
Shaan: Dad!! Where's Aayush??
Sunil: voh Shaan… (looks at Akshay)
Akshay: Shaan bait na… pehle dinner karle…
Shaan: bhaiyya…??
Akshay: he's in his room…
Shaan turns around and heads towards Aayush's room, opens the door…
He sees dadi is trying to feed him, but he's not eating…Khushboo and Madhvi are present too..
Aayush looks at Shaan, runs to him…
Aayush: papa!! Mom kaisi hain?? (looks up at him, he's scared, Shaan kneels in front of him)
Shaan: Aayush, abhi mom teek hain!! Abb aap dinner kyun nahi kar rahe hain??
Aayush: mujhe pata hain, voh teek nahi hain!! Kya main mom se milsaktha hun, dadi mujhe mana kar rahi hain…(Shaan cups his face)
Shaan: Aayush, abhi Khanak so rahe hain…aap mom se subah mil lena…abb please khalo…
Aayush shakes his head…
Shaan: Aayush, you trust me right???
Aayush nods…
Shaan: toh please aaj mere liye khalo…
Aayush nods, Shaan smiles slightly, kisses him on his forehead…lets himself out from there…
He just can't believe what's happening?? He had just been away from her for about 8-9 hours…What terrible should have happened?? That she's completely broken…
No that can't happen..he won't let that happen…
He enters back to their room, she's awake, her head is leaning on the head rest…she's looking away from the door, he has got food for her…sets the plate on the side table of the bed, sits next to her…
Not knowing how to start the conversation with her, fearing she would break down once gain, and this time he won't be able to control himself…
Khanak: teen saal…
Shaan is startled, looks at her, her eyes are dry now, like as though she's determined..but still she's mourning…Befor he could ask her…
Khanak: Aaj mera mom dad, bhaiyya bhabhi ka death day hain…(her voice quivers)
Events from the morning flood back…
After her encounter with Dr. Anjali, she rushes into the examination hall, takes her seat, Raj takes the seat next to her…
Dr. Latha had given the question papers to everyone, Khanak's face had broken into a big smile…
Latha: kya hua Khanak?? Itna muskura kyun rahi ho?? (asks fondly)
Raj: obviously she'll be happy, shayad Shaan ne use pehle se hi batadiya hain, ki kya kya questions hain…Kyun Khanak?? (may be jealous)
Khanak: (smiles at Lata, turns towards Raj, gives him a dirty look) Whatever Raj!!!
Lata: abb bus karo!! Ok students time starts now, 3 hours paper…And all the best!!
She leaves the hall, an invigilator is appointed…After 3 hours…Invigilator starts collecting back the paper…Khanak realizes that she has not written the date and her name…writes her name, but date??
She asks the invigilator, she tells her…As Khanak hears the date, her hand goes numb, since it was getting late, invigilator takes the paper from her…
Memories which we try to bundle up and throw away from our mind, are the ones, which make their way back to our life….
No matter whatever you are, who ever you are, your past haunts you, till you go on a complete halt on your life…means till your last breath…
Everyone leaves…Raj is looking over the question paper once again…She sits there like a rock, how could she just forget this day?? Her tears dare to leave her lower eyelid…
Raj: (still looking into the paper) how was it??
She doesn't respond, she gets up from her place, unmindfully, starts walking outside…Raj gets to know that only when he hears the door, but her things, her pen, mobile just lay there…He looks suspiciously at the door, she's long gone…
She's walking through the corridors of the hospital, just like a zombie…She just want to scream her guts out..how could she just forget?? Had she been so busy in her own life, that she had forgotten that this was the same day, which had changed her life to eternity…She feels like a jerk for forgetting, at another moment her mind screams telling her that..is she even deserves this?? All the warmth, love, affection…
Everyday, whenever she used to wear her doator's apron, it would scream and tell that, she had fulfilled her parents wishes, and she had been a great daughter to them…but now…Just how?? She clamps her mouth by her right hand…
World starts to revolve, she feels like as though even her head is spinning, and in any moment she would hit herself to something or someone…She sits on a chair, which were placed on the sides of the wall for patients, waiters…
She holds her head in both of her hands, her mouth is wetting because of extra salivation, the same feeling which we feel before puking…She see that someone's standing in front of her, she lifts her head ever slowly…
This got to be the worstest day of her life, and she thinks it will remain for the whole of her life…
It's Dhruv's mom…Khanak just sits there, puts her head down….
Dhruv's mom: hello Khanak!! (with a smile)
But Khanak doesn't see that….for now her mind is just scolding her, just how??
Dhruv's mom: I see that you are still mourning the day…
Raj has walked upto her, but sees Dhruv's mom talking to her, he just listens, mourning the day, he stands far away, but he can listen to them…
Dhruv's mom: ofcourse you have to…tumne mere beta ko jo miss kardiya…
Khanak is lost in her thoughts…she just wants to yell at that lady, but when she herself has done such a huge mistake…scolding the lady means nothing, she just now want to cry her hearts out for her own loss…But she sits there, till now not even a drop of her tear had fallen down nor she had spoken even a word…
Dhruv's mom: anyways, mujhe koi afsoos nahi hain…infact im very happy…u know finally Dhruv ne shaadi ke liye haan bholdi…
Khanak just runs her hand over her face, her hands have started trembling, she has started sweating profusely…
Raj senses that she's not feeling well, and little did he guess the day..
Dhruv's mom: mujhe pata hain, that you are thinking about your mom and dad…poor girl tumhe unke chehra tak nahi dekhna mila tha…
That's enough Raj gets it, he moves to side tries to call Shaan, but it tells its switched-off. Raj being a faithful friend knows that only Shaan could calm her down, or give her the comfort which she's looking for, he tries once again, but not able to get…
Khanak gets up from her place, starts walking, Dhruv's mom stand stunned, but she can't care for her she strodes in an opposite direction…Raj comes to the place once again, but Khanak is missing, he starts looking for her…
She had moved to the end of the corridor, she was standing near the stairs, her back towards the stairs…Since it's a busy block, she's hitted by someone, she misses the balance, about to fall back, but once again she's saved on the same day…
It was Dhruv, who was taking the stairs, he had come over to meet her, he had got hold of her at the right time, she just stands like a doll, Raj finds her with Dhruv…
They both make her sit on the chair, Raj gets water for her, she refuses…Raj is tensed, Dhruv is worried…
They manages her to walk, gets in the elevator with her, she leans on the steel wall…
Once again to her fate, this time its Anjali…
Anjali: oh! Khanak! I was looking for you…(talks casually, Khanak's eyes are fixed on the floor of the elevator)
Raj and Dhruv wonders about the lady…
Anjali: I see you being dejected…I think tumhari test achchi nahi gayi hogi…
Dhruv: excuse me???
Anjali: do I know you?? (to Dhruv) stay out!! Obviously achchi nahi hogi, agar tum apne married life ko zyada importance dogi then you have to face this…(shrugs)
Anjali: it doesn't surprise me you forgetting things…
These words hit Khanak's ears, it just stays in her brains…
Anjali: I mean main yeh nahi keh rahi hain, ki tumhe shaadi nahi karni chayiye tha, Im just telling that you had been very early…Because of your foolishness…you have made this marriage a mistake!!!
These words struck in Khanak's mind…
Raj: will you just shut the hell up…
Anjali: oh please, stay out of this…agar main galat keh rahi hoti, toh Khanak kuch bhol kyu nahi rahi hain…
Her floor comes, she gets out…
Dhruv and Raj are like who the hell she is…
They get out of the elevator and had given her the ride to her home …She had been the same doll, when she had entered back…Aayush had hugged her, but she had gently moved away and had walked away from him…Aayush had felt really bad, even the whole Khandelwal clan had been in shock, looking her like this…
But they had let her be, as Raj had narrated the whole story…
After about an hour Shaan had returned, and had found the room and her in that state…
When he had uttered her name..the last words which she had heard from Anjali, she had repeated it, as she blamed herself for everything…Just everything….
At present, she has her head rested on his chest, softly sobbing, his arms around her….
